P Bear
Thanks for the info. Do you think with the Khorns 17' apart and sitting 10' back that they would have a hole in the middle? My biggest fear is if the bass would overwhelm the room? I don't really know what kind of bass they have.

Man, these things image so much you'd swear that the center speaker is running when in stereo!
garymd
The horn-loaded bass of the khorns will not sound as deep at first or as punchy as the cornwalls although they do go a bit lower. They will not overwhelm the room. In fact, you may be underwhelmed at first. I've heard them in a similiar sized room (Tom Longo from this forum) and there was no hole in the soundstage. TheEvan
You'll have no trouble with the bass overwhelming the room. There's more danger of that with the Cornwalls. Because the K-horns' norn-loaded bass deliver such quick and accurate bass, there is no bloat. Many listeners interpret them as bass shy as a result. Until they cue up something with substantial & sustained bass content. Then look out! Nothing can deliver as much so clearly. That said, I'm thinking the room is a tad shy for Khorns. P Bear
So what is the effect of a smaller room on Khorns?
Audio Flynn
Cool post "Bear". Not owning them I think they need room to "breathe".
Frzninvt
Mine are on a 17' wall and I sit about 10-11ft back and they sound stellar. When I switch to 2-channel operation you would swear that the center La Scala is playing. I had to get up and check a few times! I get great bass as well, you don't need a huge room to make Klipschorn's sing trust me. I have another pair in the back as well!

P Bear
Thanks for welcome guys. Alright Frzninvt! That's what I wanted to hear. I just gotta get some Khorns. Judging by how the Corns and the Belles sound, they must be outrageous. I plan on building one of Al K's XO's for the Khorns, which one do you suggest? Colin, looks like it. I have an all tube system when I am playing records. E80CC's and 12SX7's being the money tubes in the Wright pre. 2A3 and 12AX7's in the ASL Tulip. As far as George Wright knows I was the first one to try the European E80CC's in his WPL-20's 12AU7 socket. The worst E80CC is much better than the best 12AU7 that I have in this preamp. I just got the Tulip Saturday. Gonna try Sovtek 2A3's and the new Chinese 2A3 C's. This is my first SET. It sounds much better than the ASL AQ1008 100w monos I used for the Maggie mid/tweeter for use on the Corns. Fun hobby.

P Bear
What's a Cornscala?
BS Button
A chunkier version of the Cornwall with a 400/401 midrange horn and a variant of the type B network. Everyone needs a Cornscala
P Bear
My, that's a big horn! I take it you built that yourself.
