oscarsear
Get a fan...convective heat dissipation...in the apparent absence of conductive temperature gradients...essentially better than nothing.
Dflip
I second the fan, a good 16 or 18" oscillating one on either low or second speed at least gives the illusion of it being cooler. It should help with the sleep pattern. I use one in the second floor bedroom even though I have AC.
seti
i think my idea for the dry ice or air conditioned space suit would work. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7700875831&category=13903&rd=1 http://www.canadiancontent.net/en/jd/go?Url=http://www.spacecollecting.com Hell yeah ! tigerwoodKhorns
Get a fan and a spray bottle of water. Mist the water on yourself and let the fan evaporate the water. As the water evaporates, it will absorb heat to transform from a liquid to a gas (called the latent heat of vaporization). You will get much cooler than the actual temperature of the room. If you live in a humid place, you may also consider a dehumidifier. Less water vapor in teh air stores less heat (total heat being a different animal than temperature). mandi
No, no, no.....get a big metal tube and go to the local ice house and get a huge block of ice, then put the fan behind the ice. If you want the block to last longer put a wet cheese cloth over it!! Now that is air conditioning. (I have actually seen this done on a front porch and it works great!! jacksonbart
Break into your Dads liquor cabinet and make your self a high ball. Will lower your body temp and make sleep easier.
lynnm
An inexpensive and very effective technique you could try. My wife and I close all windows and doors in our house except for one window at the front of the house and the window in our bedroom. We place a fan in the window at the front of the house which blows to the outdoors. This fan pulls the hot air from the house which is replaced by air that is drawn into our bedroom from the outside. On numerous occasions we have had to get up and turn off the fan in the middle of the night because the bedroom was getting too cool. Often others have complained to us the next day that they had had a poor night's sleep as their house had stayed hot all night long.

fini
Do these teenagers need to be told to do this? I thought it was an automatic, daily activity for young-uns. While you're "at it", strap a fan to your wrist. That'll help, especially if you're, uh, rapid.
No Disc
This thread went downhill fast... I wonder when the censors will kick in? No Disc
