seti
My older brother is almost finished with some home built jbl's and after talking to some people he has decided on tube amps. I told him of Dee's MK III's I heard in Hope and was wondering if anyone is selling Dynaco Kits again or is the only option to buy a used MK III and upgrade it. Is the MK III the best of the Dynaco line? Any advice much appreciated.
crazytubepower
No one is selling dynaco kits
Daddy Dee
Seti, There are a number of suppliers of rebuild kits for various Dynaco amps. Some of the kits include a stuffed pcb that is ready to install or a completely ground up bag of parts. I am sure that there are others on the forum who can help you locate some of these options. NOSValves
I have some information that the new owner of the "Dynakit" name is planning to release kits of many of the Dynaco amps at some point in the future. But when that point will be is a big? Until then you have no choice but to source a nice pair used. Craig

Lurch
I've seen replicas of the Dyna III chassis on ebay. Triode Electronics (aka Uncle Ned) sells the transformers, the cap board and the input board. You'd just have to scrounge up a few pieces of wire, etc to put a new set together.
fini
Yeah, but where are you going to find wire? There's always a catch...
Marvel
wire you asking me? you expect me to know? Shannon Parks sells a board for an amp called an Eiclone. Similar to a MarkIII. Has lots of options. You have to supply your own chassis though. Very cool and pretty low prices. There is a forum for support. He is in Champaign-Urbana. www.diytube.com Bruce
Daddy Dee
http://community.webshots.com/album/354063825LZnHlO Here are some eiclone pics. Thanks for the post Marvel. This is a new one up on my radar screen. Very cool.
Marvel
Shannon did have a website with other pics, but moved more to a straight forum. It's pretty neat stuff. He has an EL84 based amp as well, that is sorta based on the EL84 Dynaco. The same only different if you know what I mean. Even all new parts aren't that expensive. seti
Hey thanks for all the information! My brother is one of those guys that must build things himself and he was very interested in the parts but your right Fini the wire is going to be tricky.... Perhaps I could get him some of that cryogenic silver cable blessed by twelve virgins and the pope : ). It is good to hear that Dynakit is going to be available sometime in the future too cool. thanks again
Daddy Dee
Yeh, that is some REAL wire. If you get a good deal, let me know. I gotta get me some of that.
Erik Mandaville
Fini: LOL! Wire is always the tough part with all of this! Erik
johnyholiday
i use spark plug wire because it's plugged against sparks
Marvel
Hi Erik, Glad to see you checking in still. That Eiclone board is way cool. The circuit has a 12ax7 feeding a 6sn7 that drives the EL34s/6550s/kt88s. The board has a 6sl7 pinout around the 12ax7 if you would rather use that tube.
