rplace
Sure thing...will do.If he was from venus, would he feed us with a spoon? If he was from mars, wouldnt that be cool? Standing right on campus, would he stamp us in a file? Hangin down in memphis all the while. They sing Im in love. whats that song? Im in love with that song.Cerebral rape and pillage in a village of his choice.Invisible man who can sing in a visible voice.Feeling like a hundred bucks, exchanging good lucks face to face.Checkin his stash by the trash at st. marks place.I never travel far, without a little big starRunnin round the house, mickey mouse and the tarot cards.Falling asleep with a flop pop video on.If he was from venus, would he meet us on the moon? If he died in memphis, then thatd be cool, babe.
maxg
Do we still not know if my advisor was right? I should add that apparently he is 22 and no longer regards himself as a teenager. In the meantime: "Roupi Glukeia. Ela xana konta mou Ela prwi, Me thn augh Esu soun san hliou actida Rouph mou mikrh " Yes - it is Greek - but it is not as hard as it appears. maxg
OH great - 2 going now - what happens?
rplace
OH great - 2 going now - what happens? Max looks like somebody besides the two of us has to guess (correctly) both songs now. That should effectivly end this thread.[] EDIT: I tried the Babble Fish site to translate greek to english...no luck []
Olorin
Rich, is that The Replacements, "Alex Chilton?"
Ray Garrison
I am completely stumped. I resorted to Googling Max's lyrics to see what song that was - I know the answer, but I still don't know the song...[:'(] The one posted by rplace I think I've heard - lyrics sound familiar in a few places, but I have no clue on the melody or who might have sung it. And yes, I posted lyrics from N*Sync. All I can say is you guys must be batchelors - any parent with a teenager over the past few years heard that song (Bye Bye Bye) more than *our* parents heard I wanna hold your hand... and in all seriousness, they sing great, some of the songs a pretty good, the production is way above average and at 110dB they rock. Okay, I'll come in out of the rain now. I'm all better...
jacksonbart
I am lost, we need Jeff to straighten this out.
Olorin
Nah, I had that cassette from The Replacements when I was in college. I haven't heard the tune in ten years, but it rang a bell so I Googled to confirm my suspicion. So if The Replacements are fair game, let's see who can pull this one out of the hat: Is it sensible that life is what it seems when you're living in a dream Could you care enough while pausing on a thought can you think of what you've got? (Only you know what matters in your life) When it's pouring out, you're pondering inside and all the times you shouted, everybody cried you've got to learn to compromise to live inside the others' lives It's not peculiar, there's nothing to devise at all a-a-a-a-a-a-all right (at all) a-a-a-a-a-a-all right
maxg
OK something by way of a clue or 2. Obviously the lyrics are Greek - but the song isnt - and neither was/is the singer. To the best of my knowledge that makes this song unique. A clue: The singer isnt now what he was then. The problem is that I am now going to bed. So you guys will have to wait to later this evening (your time) to know the answer - unless Ray looked it up correctly of course. (N'Sync? I should have go the young assistant to spell it out to me. No teenagers actually in the house. I assumed a more normal spelling.) Last clue: REd Jeweled adoration by feline father of steam engine designer what? Not. sputnik
Haven't we learned any lessons about Greeks since the Trojan War?
Olorin
A singer who is not now what he was then, feline father of the steam engine, is Cat Stevens. EDIT again: Ah -- red jeweled adoration = Ruby Love I'm leaving for about five hours -- high school soccer starts tonight, and I'm a referee. [<)] Hopefully you've got it by the time I'm back. sputnik
Well done on both ends there. I got the Cat Stevens clue finally and I could hum the song but I could not remember the name. "Red jeweled adoration" - and I thought I was being clever when I posted the lyrics to Louie Louie.
maxg
Well done Olorin. I had a feeling that, faced with Greek lyrics we might get nowhere but a crossword clue is a crossword clue for anyone that does 'em.
Jeff Matthews
Olorin, you're up.
Olorin
Already posted, about 5 up. [] Oh, and Max, good clues. I love crosswords, and "red jeweled adoration" was ingenious. Oops, new page. Here it is again -- Is it sensible that life is what it seems when you're living in a dream Could you care enough while pausing on a thought can you think of what you've got? (Only you know what matters in your life) When it's pouring out, you're pondering inside and all the times you shouted, everybody cried you've got to learn to compromise to live inside the others' lives It's not peculiar, there's nothing to devise at all a-a-a-a-a-a-all right (at all) a-a-a-a-a-a-all right
Olorin
No guesses yet? I thought Rich would have this one in no time. Hint: Feeling Minnesota.
rplace
O, the a-a-a-a-a-all right part seems oh so familiar. It has bugged me on and off all day.
Olorin
Here is another clue to keep the game from getting old and Mouldy.
rplace
I checked the Feeling Minnesota soundtrack and there is a Replacements song on there...but not with those words. I have just about every Replacements album and am a big fan...don't think this is a Replacements song. Another hint please[:^)]
