You realize you had the title of the song in your challenge? Think for Yourself, a little tune by Goje--

How about this:

Lots of people talk and few of them know,

Soul of a woman was created below. yeah!

Dazed and Confused - Led Zep.

When people keep repeating

That you'll never fall in love

When everybody keeps retreating

But you can't seem to get enough

I got faith in ya Ray...you will get this one quick.

Just as I wanted to post....

"Midnight Special" by CCR (well, they copied it, I believe).

Next:

"You search in your bag

Light up a *** (it blocks this out, another word for cigarette, which is what gays are commonly called)

Think it's a drag, but you're so glad

To be alive honey"

Name that Tune!

I was never much of a Who fan, but that song was sorta unescapeable

Let my love open the door

Not quite a Who song...solo Pete T. But who wants to split hairs. I knew you would get that one.

Allman Brothers, song was something blues... don't have album, could

never figure out what they were singing when I heard it. Always

sounded like "Skateboard Blues" but that didn't really make any

sense. Just another mondegreen...

...and The Midnight Special was written by Leadbelly, guys...

So what are the "Statesboro Blues"???

The time I like is the rush hour, cause I like the rush

The pushing of the people, I like it all so much

Such a mass of motion, don't know where it goes

I move with the movement and...

Statesboro (Georgia or Alabama) was known for a false story of a black man who raped a white woman and was lynched for it. And many knew it was false but he was still lynched. The original song (by I think Elmore James) was something of a statement of overall oppression of being black in the South at the time, even though it didn't reference the lynching. The Allmans just kicked the song into high gear--"

I looked this up--to me, pretty darn obscure, RayG-- artist is nice on the eyes, though-

Wow, that is obscure...at least to me. I had to cheat too.

I wonder if the singer is realted to Aldo Nova....ha ha...I crack myslef up. Anyone remember Aldo Nova?

Posted

One of the song challenges several pages back was Aldo's one big hit -- all I remembered was the lead guitar melody--

I did notice that this song has the same title as a darn good Peter Gabriel album cut--

RayG--please put up some Beatles or something!

Where is King Jeff to toss this one on the scrap heap and start us off with a new one?

Did somebody call for the King? [:D]

Try this one:

"When they said you were high class, well that was just a lie."

Name that Tune!
