Ray Garrison
uh, guys... I don't know what you found by "looking it up", but the lyrics I posted came directly out of the liner notes for Peter Gabriel's Security album which I had on this morning... Same album with Lay Your Hands On Me, Shock the Monkey, San Jacinto... hardly obscure. Oh, for the collectors of arcane trivia, this was one of the first all-digitally recorded pop/rock albums ever done... And Reggae's not obscure? Don't worry 'bout a thing, 'cause every little thing gonna be alright, mon...
rplace
Sorry, Ray. All the ribbing was in good fun. I did not know the song and seemed like others did not. A quick search turned up Heather Nova as the artist for me. Ya mon, ya did good with the Marley tune only two lines of the song. Three Little Birds is actually the title. You are up! oldtimer
OK. From the sublime to the ridiculous. You sure know how to hurt a girl Fewer hugs and no more kisses Just water for your carburetor And bearings for your pistons Rev her engine for your pleasure Caress and fondle her steering wheel When you moan and hug her gearshift Stop! Think how it makes me feel
Ray Garrison
Did you ever hear the story about the photo on the cover of that album? Short version - they needed a cover shot to replace one that they had been planning on using, and had no money, and the photographer was coming over to the hotel, so their producer stold a bunch of towel from the hotel linen service and said "Okay, everyone take off your clothes and put on some towels and smear this face cream on... this'll be cool..." They all thought she was nuts, and hated the cover, which, of course, became the most famous image of them... oh, Skidmarks on my Heart... In keeping with the same vein... Told my girl Ill have to forget her Rather buy me a new carburetor So she made tracks saying This is the end now Cars dont talk back Theyre just four wheeled friends now
oldtimer
Love that pic. Nothing like an all girl band for photography. It's Queen isn't it?
whamo
That's I'm in love with my car. From the album a night at the opera.

whamo
O.K. I hope this isn't too obscure, here goes: When he was young you'd not find him doing well in school. His mind it turned unto the water Always the focus of adolescent ridicule He has no time for farmer's daughters Alienated from from the clique society a lonely boy finds peace in fishing His mother insists John this is not what life's supposed to be Can't you see what your missing As he says "when I grow up I want to be" "one of the harvesters of the sea" "I think before my days are done I want to be a fisherman" good luck, Mark
whamo
No guesses? I don't want to be responsible for killing this thread.
Jeff Matthews
What you can do is start dropping hints. Or you can post a new one.
whamo
O.K. Hints: 1) The fellow that wrote this song also wrote the theme song for the animated show "Southpark" 2) He's to fishing like Ted Nugent is to hunting. 3) The guy that wrote this song has had many solo and side projects and has played with Stewart Copeland, Tom Waits, Warren Haynes, Trey Anastasio and Bernie Worrell. 4)He's one of the best contemporary bass players. 5)The idea for this song came from an actual event where a fishing boat was sunk. The last radio message from the vessel "The starboard bow,Oh my God we're going down" was included in the lyrics of the song. 6)meagain would probably know this song
meagain
Les Claypool of Primus (brilliant) 'John the Fisherman' off of Frizzle Fry. Re #6 - You are correct sir. Gosh! I'm going to play some Primus right now! Edit: I didn't know Les was into fishing. Do you know he's coming out with a novel. I haven't checked on this in a while but I thought it was due out this summer. He just couldn't stop coming up with stuff if he tried. whamo
Yes he appeared on two episodes of Fly Fishing the World from the Outdoor Life Network. If you're a loyal fan you'll find both of them on the end of "Five Gallons of Diesel". Now it's your turn to come up with one Meagain.
