rplace
I sure liked the ability to make a poll with the forum software a while back. Since it is a slow time of year, check out this auction. Read the Q/A at the bottom. The auction title says MFSL. A question is posed asking if it is a MFSL LP or CBS 1/2 speed. The seller basically says he put MFSL in the title to drive up hits. If there was a poll feature I would have options for: 1. Dishonest tactic2. Perfectly fine, buyer beware3. Rich, get a life...who cares. So what is your pick? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150027968928&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:
Cal Blacksmith
1, 2 and 3 This is a dishonest tactic but it is perfectly fine and the buyer should beware so Rich, get a life, WHO CARES[]
Frzninvt
It's spamming and against eBay policy, report the auction and have it shut down. Other examples are: Orion amp like PPI, Fosgate, Teac, ADC Done to get more exposure and it is illegal. Turn it in!
rplace
Frzn, where do you report such a thing? I just took a quick look at the ebay site and it is not obvious (poor UI design in computer geek speek). I actually had a fairly high dollar snipe set up on this thinking it was a MFSL LP. Then I looked at his other items and I notied they were mostly CBS discs. So I took a closer look and deleted my snipe. I would have been mad had I won the auction then realized it. Sure I should have taken a closer look...but I would not have found the LP at all when I searched had that not been in the title.
BEC
Scroll to near the bottom of the listing page. There is a link that says "Report This Item". Bob
damonrpayne
I see that stuff a lot like "Aragon amp, NOT adcom or bryston or B&K ". I report them regularly.

rplace
Before I can vote, I need to know what... "MFSL" means. [:$] JJ Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs. Depending on what side of the fence you are on they are either great (typically) sounding audiophile LPs or they are snake oil. I am in the former camp...I love them. The MFSL version of this LP in Near Mint condition will sell for 50-80 dollars. That CBS one will sell for $20. It would only take two people interested in this and mistakenly thinking it is the MFSL version and the auction would top $40 for a 20 dollar item. Not the end of the world...but still not cool in my book.
Moderators Travis In Austin Posted August 31, 2006 Moderators Share Posted August 31, 2006 I don't like it at all. He does have the photo which clearly shows it is CBS (assuming you know a little bit about what you are doing, which you would think someone would if they were looking for MFSL). I see a lot of sellers put something in like "not MFSL" or "like MFSL" This gets them their hits but is much more certain not to create confusion or something that could be considered a misrepresentation. For those reasons I am going with . . .
colterphoto1
The unaware buyer could get easily taken on this. Yes often other brand names appear in the title for 'search' purposes, but usually preceeded by 'NOT' by honest sellers. Yes he answers the question honestly in the Q&A section, but some buyers not think to ask or peruse the photos that clearly. Misleading- yes. kev313
Yeah - this one is pretty sketchy. I don't generally mind title spamming, however, as it sometimes clues me in on the existence of something that is like the item I am looking for of which I would have otherwise been unaware.
