USparc Posted November 25, 2001 Author Share Posted November 25, 2001 The DV-525 does the job very nice. It plays everything. Indeed the remote sucks, but I don't use it. All the functionality is programmed in the remote of my onkyo. There are still some "minor" things that will forse me to upgrade soon or later: Display can not be dimmed (who taught I would need that but still it can be handy) The transfo can be noisy at times (just a pitch tone my ears are sensitive to.) The tray when opening/closing could also be smoother. Don't mind this, it still is a good player. I like it's simplisity. Indeed the RF-3 are certainly not small. When I got my first pair they looked so huge in the room. In the store they seemed a lot smaller. Standing waves amplifies or attenuate certain frequencies. So in my case the frequency response is more flat. The music sounds more natural because of this "more" flat frequency response. And indeed a dome would be perfect because nothing is symetric so no standing waves can occure. The list price of the Thomson here in Belgium is 100.000 BEF(2180$). I got it for 85.000 BEF (1853$). The picture quality is very good. I wouldn't go back to a normal TV. We went to the girlfriend's parents' house for a third Thanksgiving dinner in four days. I checked out a couple hi-end stores in the area. The most promising one had a sign on the door saying that appointments are being accepted and look for the new store soon, this note put up some time in July!! I'm not sure what street it was on but it was near Miller Road (we stayed at the Motel-6) and the other was about 5 miles south off Route 23. Boy, coming home on 23 and 75 South was pretty rough yesterday. The wind was blowing from right to left on the highway about 40mph or so. Spent nearly four hours just trying to keep the car straight and the SUV's off my butt. Is it just me or does everyone up there drive crazy? I mean, the speed limit is 70mph, o.k. that means I may be able to push it to 85 if I'm lucky.
