Guest " "
This has been posted a few times. A great site to predict SPL potential. You need to know your speakers spl rating, and have room/seating position info. http://myhometheater.homestead.com/splcalculator.html

DaveInNashville
After putting my cat in the car so its ears won't bleed and shooting earplugs in my own for the same reason, my setup will peg out a Radioshack SPL meter at 126db. And that's not full volume. I really don't have any idea how far it will go above 126...... All I know is that it gets loud enough...... seti
RESULTS16 dB Gain from amplifier -7.7 dB Loss due to dispersion (distance) 3 dB Gain from sonic reinforcement (multi speakers) 6 db Gain from placement (reinforcement from reflected sound) 121.3 dB SPL at listening postion If I am rocking out at the house it is generally only 90 - 100 at listening position. If beers are involved a little over 100 but only for a couple songs. If I just have tunes playing in the background or have people over 85-90. InnerTuber
I don't know about the dB's, but her lips move, but I can't hear what she's saying. Eventually, the dirty look shames me into turning down.

Oh, but you KNOW what she's saying.... it's instinct (and can also be the product of the consequences of saying you could not hear what she was saying the last time she said it....)[]
