  9. 1988 Elektra reissue Exceptional sound on this Elektra reissue. Defined, rich with supreme clarity and smooth delivery. Super punchy, realistic drums you can feel and beautiful midrange tones make the guitar work really cut through. Vocals are lush and intimate and the bass is profound. I’m very impressed with the sound on this 80s reissue. Quite a stellar pressing, no flaws to speak of. I definitely recommend this pressing. Comment from Discogs so well described this pressing I had to copy it.

  14. I have this feeling that my luck is none too good This sword here at my side don't act the way it should Keeps calling me its master, but I feel like its slave Hauling me faster and faster to an early, early grave And it howls, it howls like hell I'm told it's my duty to fight against the law That wizardry's my trade and I was born to wade through gore I just want to be a lover, not a red-eyed screaming ghoul I wish it'd picked another to be its killing tool Black blade! Black blade! Forged a billion years ago Black blade! Black blade! Killing so its power can grow There's death from the beginning to the end of time And I'm the cosmic champion and I hold a mystic sign And the whole world's dying and the burdens mine And the black sword keeps on killing 'til the end of time Black blade! Black blade! Bringing chaos to the world we know Black blade! Black blade! And its using me to kill my friends Black blade! Black blade! Getting stronger so the world will end Black blade! Black blade! Forcing my mind to bend and bend The black blade Forged a million billion years ago My cosmic sword goes on for eternity Carving out destiny Bringing in the lords of chaos Bringing up the beasts of Hades Sucking out the souls of heroes Laying waste to knights and ladies My master is my slave Ha ha ah ha ah ha!

  17. Basically, you're all stuck w/me. It was an old Army buddy from F troop. lol I was the first to get the call and let the boys all know. She called them all going right down the list she had. After having been thru the thick and thin of it all (mostly thick) We vowed to stay together for the rest of our lives. PTSD? We handled our own PTSD like we did everything else. I'll drop this here just for a hoot. We'd all have been certified, bona-fied bat sheet crazy. 😂 Yea, I know there would be comments here but just a like or non-like works for me. It's done and bittersweet but one thing for sure he was a damn Patriot for sure. Just think about it and scroll on down. It's all good! "The whole world has gone mad!" Nils Lofgren This just popped in the head from an old meme I saw once that resonated. Ashes to Ashes and dust to dust. NOW ya know why I NEVER dust. Ya just don't know today! 😂 Funny! This song just popped into my head. Crazy!

  23. Finally have the room downstairs carpet installed and moved the Jubilee speakers down there. It sounds fantastic. Imaging is so beautiful and the room sounds great. I started playing with the SVS sub and the Jubilee's this evening. I am aware the Jubilee speakers go down to 18hz but it was interesting to see how bass-heavy music would respond with the sub. I set the crossover frequency for the SVS at about 20hz and it added just the right amount of low-end. Not sure if I will sell off the SVS in the long run as the cabinets still sound pretty good without it. Pics for the team:

  24. Typically horn flare rates (areas)are described by the term "cut-off" frequency aka "Fc"; at freques below this this the horn just about stops working. You put Fc into the exponential equation however, PWK often used the term "lamedh" (I'll use "Ld") to describe the horn area expansion; It is the lengh of travel down the horn in which the area doubles (or halves). Therefor the expansion works like animals / bacterium doubling every time period. If my math is correct, the cuttoff wavelength (I'll call it "Lc) is 18.1 times the length to double. We can examine the LaScala's two paths (combined) and notice the area at the throat is 0.5 ft^2; then the paths go across the back to the interior corners where the area is 1 ft^2; then toward the front for a foot to where the area is 2 ft^2; then another foot to the mouth where the combined area is 4 ft^2. Therefore we see the Ld is 1 foot or 12 inches. The Lc is thus 18.1 * 12 and we dived the velocity of sound 15,00 in/sec by that wavelength to get an Fc of 62 Hz. We can check the PWK article on the K400 horn and notice that the length to double is given as 2.75 inches. The math like the above shows that it's Fc is 270 Hz. PWK was really getting it to go as low as possible to where the bass bin on the Khorn is running out of steam! Good night all, WMcD

  30. Woot, today's the day. Not much on the plate so turnin up the gas. One to unzip and who knows what else. Might even put a few away but that sounds like work. Looking at 6 stacks leaning with each being about a 18" long. Depressing. I've been eyeing a piece of shelving board about 8 feel long I've saved in the garage. It's from my original concrete block shelving circa 1962. Too late to use that and I'm not gonna take a chance but... There IS the front hallway if I move a bunch of gear and give my oldest a nice oak panel door cabinet she's been craving. I've had that board since the beginning of it all... 😂

  35. https://www.discogs.com/release/247822-Michael-Jackson-Bad His last good album IMHO, before switching to "saving the world god-mode"... Was it 1988? We saw him here in Berlin, infront of the Reichstag. Paul Young sang as warm-up, but people were impatient to see Michael and booed all the time... Poor Paul, it was undeserved.

  36. Good evening friends, wasn´t here for while as I have seriouse online issues here . The district where I´m living gets a brand new fiberoptic cable net for internet applications. So far there isn´t anyone online here , except the users having a mobile hotspot on their smartphone . That´s my connection I´m using that at the moment to be online . It isn´t that fast and threads take a lot of time to be loaded . Takes a while till all works are finished here . Today I was in the mood to spin some records .... Jimmy Page & Robert Plant " No Quarter " recorded in Marakech and London in 1994, didn´t spun that for a couple of years than Queen II followed by Pink Floyd " Animals " finally Manfred Manns Earth Band " Solar Fire "

  37. Time to ride or die! THAT was yesterday around my place. Rode that coaster once and it's killer. How's yer heart tough guys??? Mine was thumpin last night just like it was when I rode that thing... 60 miles north of me on the coast of Lake Erie here in Ohio. Bring your A game & the kids. I got the lodging covered here. Hour north to heaven or H3ll ! lol Being the tallest roller coaster and the first to top 300 feet wasn’t the only records broken when it opened in 2000. It debuted having the longest drop and the fastest speed topping out at 93 m.p.h. Ranking as one of the world’s best steel coasters year after year since its opening, this behemoth shoots riders over hills, past lagoons and through tunnels, all at unthinkable speeds. With its silhouette illuminated in the night sky, it’s hard miss the iconic coaster on the Cedar Point skyline. About the only way I can describe last evening. A roller coaster. I unzipped the Dom Martin lp's, quick eyeball and laid them here on the arm of the couch for later. Finally figured I'd throw them on for a listen. After I ordered them I'd heard them on youtube and thought this dude's act IS together. Little did I know HOW together. Turned on my "aura" over the table to take a quick photo for in here and filled my shorts. Signed? Personalized? WTF is going on here??? I didn't buy any signed copies so I hit the site to make sure. Nope. How? Why? It was going around in my head and I was loving it. So this dude tours then gets home and signs lp's for people randomly? Who knows but I'm forever grateful and WILL be sittin front row or preferably a tour case (it's cheaper and my rear fits one) when he hits the US. It was almost as nice when my youngest daughter walks in the door @ Christmas. Home from Phoenix. Just crazy! Forever grateful for him doing that. They'll be in Crate #2 of signed stuff. That way I'll know where to find them in this mess of lp's stacked everywhere. Dom Martin (29) is a Belfast born award winning singer/songwriter, inspired but not constrained by the blues. In the past 18 months he has burst onto the UK and European music scene with a unique guitar style and voice captivating the audience at every venue. His main influences are Rory Gallagher, Tom Waits, John Martyn, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Howlin Wolf and Muddy Waters. With five BBC Radio live sessions prior to a first album release, Dom impressed with his 2018 debut original EP “Easy Way Out” with BBC presenter Cerys Matthews describing his work as “absolutely wonderful stuff.” His debut album “Spain to Italy” was fully released on 4th December 2019 to critical acclaim and was an IBBA “Pick Of The Month” gaining airplay on around 100 stations globally. bluespowr.com - 'Spain to Italy is not just one of the best debut releases we’ve heard in some time but among the best albums we’ve heard from any artist this year' makingascene.org - 'The likes of Dom’s talent only comes around once in a lifetime' Fatea Records - 'A musician of unbridled talent and a future that is assured’ After his debut sell out “Spring ’19 UK Tour”, Blues in Britain Magazine said - "Now and again you stumble across a rare talent of such sheer genius that you actually wonder whether what you have witnessed can possibly be for real. Dom Martin is one such talent" (Last FM) Sooooo, he's influenced by Jimi? Watching this I saw that flair and thought Jimi, Mitch and Noel??? Welllll yea, but now it's on him to reach way down and perfect it. He's on the right track imo... Gonna be a great watch for sure. Yea, the old curmudgeon is waitin... Listen up. Ready GO! Only time will tell. An added bonus??? Seriously? On to his latest "Buried in The Hail." Just enough bump to catch ya and that Rory Gallagher twist w/an added touch of Jimi once again? Crazy good! First thoughts? These two are totally KILLAH lp's. More to follow as I kick back and take it all in. Lyrics, his work, his band they just push all the buttons. The acoustic side? Smooth and clean! If ya can't catch a groove you're either deaf or dead! 😂 Get off those gold cards your sittin HARD on! Get ya sum!

  40. It is instructive to look at US Patent 4,210,223 (Note this is corrected)which concers the big MCM bass horn woofer. The Length to double area is 23.3 inches which gives an Fc of 31.95 Hz. You can find the document at USPTO.GOV or Google Patents. There is in that patent document some design information. And Klipsch and Gillim use the 18.1 figure (so I was correct!) Many thanks toJames and also to John A for helping me through this stroke time. WMcD
