  1. I agree with everything that's been said and have come to the conclusion that Chad must be summarily banned.

  2. I have not been posting much lately, but by posting this want to point out that I have not forgotten you all. I have been a member for many years. In those years a lot has happened as it does in a life. I am glad you were a part of that and I that I was and still am a part of this community. I was helped out many times. For the old members; remember the MC30's scam I stepped into? Thanks to a bunch of Klipsch Comrades, you know who you are, I did get beautiful MC30's in the end. After that tubes, Scott 272, Mapletree Audio, Heresy's, records, a cd, two networks I still haven't installed and thanked the maker for, and best of all: laughter, friendship, grief and sadness and useful information, all shared here on the forum. So, here's cheers to all of us from my traveling friends, Molly & Dolly (the VW campers), and me! My John Deere clothing by Audionectar...

  3. Islander, thank you for the time and thought you put into replying to my post. You are correct of course that nothing made by the hand of man is perfect, if you look deep enough. I just thought it was odd that both speakers were off the same amount in the same direction, leading me to wonder if I had made an error or if it might have gotten off in assembly. I suppose Im obsessing about them because I tend to over my gear..Maybe I should rethink that and just let go and enjoy them! There sure is a lot to love about them including the visual impact in the listening area..wow. So thanks once again for the help. To the poster that asked for some pics, let me see if I can figure this out. I'd be glad to post a few if I can

  5. here is a video i made real quick https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jv2JKMDqCH4 you can see that of course the klipsch are very efficient, as we all know. and that actually is with the loudness on, and bass at +2 out of 6 on the pioneer. now i am sure they cornwalls make the bass a little easier than the rf-7ii's due to paper single 15 vs the dual cerametallic cones on the rf-7ii's. wish i had a pair of rf-7ii to run on em for you. hope this provides a little help.

  6. I remembered Youth has a problem finding a bunch of candy wrappers under the seats in the HT even though he doesn't let the kids do that. I decided that space behind the speaker mounts should not be wasted and stayed up last night making the most of it. I thought what if I could put mics in the room, listen for the sounds created by candy wrappers crinkling, triangulate the position and target that spot. I needed 3 mics to triangulate and I wanted to keep it simple since I don't have much time so I used the guts of 2.4Ghz cordless phones to communicate between the two speakers and the small base station that will be located at the front of the room. It made it easy to communicate RS-232 protocol commands over that frequency and cut the cost of Bluetooth components. The "bullet" is a capacitor charged by a ten's unit that has been modified to reach 10,000 volts similar to the way a stun gun works. When triggered the barrel pops out the top and stepper motors take it to the target and at that point it is a simple CO2 air canon that fires a charged cap to the location giving the offender a quick pop as a reminder to keep the candy out of the HT. Triangulation Mic in second speaker mount. The RS-232 interface is for programming the PIC and not used during operation. My targeting is getting me within +- 8 inches out to 10ft. I think it is close enough, but would probably need to either add a 4th mic for better location proximity or a stepper motor with tighter tolerances.

  7. Schu, If you like it, go for it. It may offer you good piece of mind also. I know when I plugged my REF1000s into a conditioner, it did seem to limit the bass punch. Even though the Bel Canto's are IcePower, mine will dim the lights for an instant when I turn them on, and I have pretty good / clean power.

  8. The Panmax is made to work with HT use. The noise from the amps plugged into the wall directly may be related to both of them fighting for the earth ground. Class D amps are so efficient compared to the other amps that it sounds like a great ideal to run HT, Full range mains with a class D amp. It also makes more power available to the rest of the equipment on the curcuiit. Just my 0.02. Besides, I am getting tired of super heavy gear, lol.

  9. I'm almost embarrassed to show this but I've been wanting to look at this anyway so I took out the woofers on my 1976 LaScalas. This wood has really shrunk... see the separation in the middle? I'm thinking some silicon caulking, maybe even some backer rod, should take care of this. I can't imagine this opening has been good for the smooth flow of air!

  10. . The La Scala bass will be louder too if you turn it around and face it to the wall or a corner but it works fine faced into a room, same with the Tuba, plenty of output unless you are trying out for an SPL contest. Even at very loud listening levels with my THT facing my listening position there was no lack of bass. I never had an issue personally at Bills forum.

  12. Heresy-based 2.1 systems can be every bit as engaging as much larger systems. Especially with a really good sub as in the Table Tuba or the like. Taking into account that listening space is usually at a premium for most buyers...in the majority of residential applications, the design arguably gives up nothing at all.

  13. I don't need to read all the posts to see the intent.... you have no business posting in this thread at all. I wonder why we can no longer have technical discussions on this forum without somebody getting offended. That used to be the fun part of this forum for me. Now, just does not seem worth it.

  14. I understand, and know that there can be an influence. However, my wallet isn't too fat, so I can't even begin to go down that road. Have you ever talked to anyone at Klipsch about all the esoteric cables they use?Bruce Who said cables have to cost alot to have an influence? Not I...! Klipsch doesn't use expensive capacitors either does that mean they don't have an influence? Does an increasing cost of a capacitor always correspond to an improvement in sound? Cost isn't a good or complete indicator of performance in any product or given situation. Edit: I have found that construction and materials can to some degree be used as an indicater of a good cable in my experience based on my listening experiences. No need Marvel....I've done my own research and came to my own conclusions and implemented what I've learned into my system. miketn Edit: I sure hope my equating capacitors and cables having potential audible influences doesn't wake up the mighty Thebes...I see he is lurking on the forum this morning.! OFFICIAL FORUM REFEREE CAUTION! CAUTION! CAUTION! Cables and capacitors are not ever, and I mean, ever, to be used in the same sentence. Any implication that an rca cable built outside of the construction specification for skinning etc. can beneficially benefit the sound of music must be immediately labelled by any Forum member in good standing as "balderdash!" However, references to oxygen free copper" will be allowed, because copper is copper and if you like your copper without oxygen, it certainly won't affect the taste. Quite frankly, oxygen free copper is too brittle in taste, doesn't really go with any dish, not even fish, and gives wine a bitter and metallic aftertaste. OFFICIAL FORUM MODERATOR OUT

  15. [8][8][8][H][8][8][8] The Chinese workers for the most part are very hard working but lets face it being exploited. More or less so depending on the copmany involved. Same situation in Mexico..... and now they're getting too expensive. And guess what. In some things the labor cost is ridculousely small. And the savings even if doucle don't justify the putting the American worker out of work. Sneakers for example. $150 sneakers. Labor $3. That may inclulde materials? In any case/ US labor $6. Sneakers $150 either way. PURE GREED. And with higher reject rates from offshore labor so real labor costs may be MORE. JMVHO. Source what I"ve read from others so may or may not be true. But give Klipsch a lot of credit even without bringing work back... the have peope at the Chinese plants full time and monitor things and I'm sure are one of the better companies in China to work for. It's just who they are and how they've ALWAYS done busines. And it's good business sense. Their biggest market for the Heritage many of us love (and other lines) is Asia with booming economy who demand Made In USA. Kind of sad when the same countries kicking are derrierres in the job category understand that American craftsmanship is second to none. And Klipsch has always been at the top of excellent craftmanship. Many factory rejects are hard to spot so brand new speakers,,not many, as the level of REAL QAULITY is second to none, occasionally makes brand new hard to tell they're not perfect speakers available for a $ONG. And they're getting back into pro audio.... as in live convert pro audio. At least that's my impression. And with Audiovox buying them out we all (many) thought the sky was falling .... can probably only help. From a pure business standpoint, Audiovox is smart enough to let a company that's growed over the last few years in one of the worst economies in decades (and yes, Klipsch, before Audiovox, did panic and reduced it workforce... but it's not a goal as in other companies). And many of the once great brands Audivox owns and are blamed for killing? Hell no. They were long dead for years before Audiovox bought what was left. Basicallly the brand name that used to mean someting. A few come to mind.... Jensen, KLH (do they own KLH?), Advent, AR, and more. The one's listed have a very common connection. Passed away not too long ago, within the last couple of years. Also involved / founded Cambridge Soundworks and Tivoli audio. Intials H?K. Great innovator at getting new product to market. Running a business..... see track record. Audiovox may provide what Klipsch is missing marketing BUDGET. They do a great job of marketing but on a showstring.... add a budget close to the Energizer Bunny's (yep, an Audiovox brand), even a fraction with Klipsch's market leading sound quality based on VERY SOUND PROVABLE SCIENCE and Dr AB may start crapping his drawers as it's easy to prove scientifically that Klipsch's products often causing MUCH less blow his company's out of the water... Sorry rant mode...... Maybe I should be a political blogger or talk show host.... no real qualifications. The only thing I'm missing is some scandel, or drug addiction, and I'm good to go .... oh, some talent to at least be entertaining. Yov've read the above on the internet so it must be true ..... lol

  16. Welcome, enjoy the ride down the slippery slope, as I know few people, that once they have experienced the Klipschy goodness, can resist the urge to add to their stable, usually going larger each time. Just don't get too nutty or you'll end up losing them one at a time, as you try to pay off your student loans, car payments, mortgage, etc. Klipsch tend to serve a additional benefit, that many are unaware of at first and that is acting as a prospective future wife filter. If she doesn't mind even the big 'uns, she's a keeper!
