    Dead receiver?

Just did. Again, nothing at all. Speaker selector knob set on correct speaker output terminals?Just taking you step by step. There is no speaker selector knob. If you mean Speaker C switch, it is set to off (for normal speaker connection)

    Dead receiver?

Well after I got home, and let it sit out for a while, I tried again. This time I hooked a speaker up to it. No dice. Didn't think that would matter since there isn't even a standby light now anyway. I'm really bummed.

    Dead receiver?

Not yet. Haven't been home and didn't get a chance to before I left work. It set it out open on my desk for a few hours before I tried to power it up. I'll probably leave it out in my house overnight before I try anything again, although I fear the damage is done.

    Dead receiver?

The thing is, how can they prove that it was, if the packaging is great and all? Also, I'm not doubting Daryl's honesty at all, based on what everyone has said about his past sales and his correspondence with me. Just to make that clear.
  8. So, I bought a Marantz SR8001 from fellow forum member darylomer12, and it arrived today at my desk @ Klipsch. I got the receiver today. I put it on my desk for a couple hours, then decided to make sure it would power on. So I just plugged in the power (and nothing else), and saw the standby light. Hit the power switch, and heard two clicks from inside, about 3 seconds apart. Nothing on the front display, and no standby light. Subsequent power button tries yielded no results. So I unplugged it for about 10 minutes, and plugged it back in. No standby light, and no power. So, I took it to our electrical engineers here and we took the case cover off and looked at the internal fuses as best we could without dismantling everything, and the fuses look fine. I'll try again later when I get home. Nothing in the packaging looked amiss, and Daryl did a great job of packaging. Maybe the internal protection tripped and I have to wait a couple hours or so for the capacitors to discharge. Maybe that's it. Fingers crossed. Anyone else have any insight?
  9. I haven't MUI'd yet. I'm sure Sherriff Chad would pull me over. Hell, I'd probably join in. Congrats Carl!
  10. check the power supply. PC power supplies have a pretty limited lifespan, especially the cheap ones.
  11. The post editor auto-saves posts as you write them periodically. I'm not sure it does this for a topic-starting post however. For a post within a topic, if you see that it has saved your post during your writing it (it'll say so at the bottom of the editor window), you can come back to the thread and click on the editor, then click "View Auto Saved Content" (again, at the bottom) to see what you had previously written which would let you paste it back in.
  12. Anyone seen anything like this? I pulled this off our living room wall. The wires inside were connected, so I cut them. There was only this one wall plate, and I have no idea where each pair of wires end up. Looks to be some sort of old TV audio wall plate? Or maybe antenna?
  13. Actually, I'm doing away with badges. They were a carryover from the old forums anyway. It looks better without them.
  14. LOL I actually matched the dimensions of the old "spam patrol" badge. It looks way bigger now because of the color scheme. I'm gonna make them much smaller ;-)
  15. BTW - I just did a search for "Marantz 3250" and got some results dating back to 2006 (this was after I made a slight change to search setup so I don't know if that affected it)

There is a completely new search engine in the next major version of the software, which is likely coming out this year. There is a workaround (aside from the google search workaround I mention in a post linked above) that MAY improve it in the meantime that requires some forum downtime to implement, and I've not had a chance to do that. I sincerely apologize. I wish I was cloned!
  17. Congrats to Boxx, dtel, and CECAA850 for being added to our moderator team!
  18. The Warning System The Warning Point system gives moderators the ability to "warn" members when they obviously break a rule. Sometimes, we should ban a user - like when someone signs up specifically to spam their links everywhere. Most of the time though, we'll want to assign a warning point, and give a reason for the point given. Users can see their own warning points and nobody else's. Moderators can see everyone's points. I've set up some stock warning reasons. Each is worth one point by default, and most will be automatically removed from a user after a period of time (usually 30 days), unless overridden by a moderator. In addition, there are certain actions that automatically take place when a user reaches so many points: 10 points: the user's subsequent posts are put in a moderation queue to be approved/denied by moderators for the next 10 days. 15 points: the user cannot post at all for the next 10 days. 20 points: the user is suspended for 10 days. 30 points: the user is suspended permanently (banned). Those may evolve over time. I just wanted to inform you all about how we'll be using this from now on. It's a fairly common moderation system that can be effective when used properly. Not to worry, I've informed our moderators that we are to moderate only when truly necessary. Please let me know if you have any questions.
  19. I'm working on this still, tweaking here & there. So it may look different soon. The reason I put this in was because my process that strips out whitespace from pasted-in URLs had a side-effect of also removing empty paragraphs.

    ?

Geesh. I leave for 3 days and everything goes to hell. Heh. I'll be giving our new moderators their wings soon along with some guidelines. Also the warning point system will be back and actually be used.
  21. In the editor, when you hit enter, it signifies a new paragraph. There is padding between paragraphs now. To get around this, you can try to hit shift-enter instead.
  22. I'm sure if the parents are loving to their kids like any parent should be, they will be fine. I worry more about kids' parents that shouldn't be parents in the first place. I worry more about kids being exposed to Kim Kardashian syndrome.
  23. We actually also use Dropbox extensively here at the Klipsch Marketing dept.
