  1. But even splitting a CD still is just duplicating left and right... You could just connect a pair of rear speakers to the B speakers of your amp.
  2. quadrophonic was somewhat of a fad. I never heard it but I am sure it was quite good. Not sure if you want to invest a lot in this as you will have to find records to play too. Obviously you know you can't just simply split the rca output of a turntable to get Quad sound. After Cds appeard there was SACD as well as DVD audio could support 5.1 sound however they never really took off. I have a few 5.1 DVDs audio discs and they do sound amazing. Unfortunately there is not enough demand for this format. Wiki has a good summary.

I would have grabbed them 9 months ago... traveled further for my KLF20s. Hang in there.. someone will bite
  4. US dollars converted from Canadian dollars in 2016 at 0.75 exchange rate KLF20: $550 KLF C20 2 for $150/pair and 1 @ $110 RC-3 surrounds $120/pair plus $100 photo radar ticket....
  5. Do you not think that the C7 is enought? it is one of the biggest centers. Not many dual 8 inch centers on the market!
  6. Hi have the same setup... KLF20s with C7 center (my signature says KLF10 center but I have not built that yet.. may never) I think the setup is fantastic!
  7. Balanced interconnects are good to reduce noise for pro audio when you have very long cable runs. Not much advantage for a 3 foot run between components in your setup. The reason is that with balanced 2 conductor plus ground cables, any noise from external sources that the cables lie near will be induced equally (or nearly) on both conductors. When this noise gets to the input, it gets cancelled because the inputs are + and - . Technically this is called common mode noise and common mode signal rejection.
  8. this is too weird.. Are you sure it was not just a coincidence? was it solid state memory or hard disk? very very high electric and magnetic fields could erase memory but not a vacuum cleaner. If you vacuum around your electronics every week over a few years.... and by chance it breaks down randomly.. there could be correlation but not causality. I cannot imagine a mechanism for a vacuum to do this.
  9. yeah that sucks. So you didn't want to retrieve the sucked up memory stick from the vacuum cleaner bag?
  10. mag shielding was necessary when placing speakers close to an old tube type TV because the electron beam is directed by magnetic field coils. You dont have to worry about that any more with LCD or even Plasma.
  11. made perfect sense after I had a few shots of whiskey ...
  12. ugh.. what happened... how can I delete multiple posts?
  13. My Elite SC71 can also bi amp. Basically this is a poor man's bi amping because it still sends the same signal to both amps. So both amps have to amplify the entire frequency range, negating much of the advantage of having separate low and high amps. With all the DSP in these HT receivers shame they cannot add basic low pass and High pass electronic crossovers. Car audio receivers have had them for over a decade.

  15. " The result is a generation of more static and stochastic phase error sounds at different directions from the loudspeaker. The stochastic phase error sounds appear because there may be different types of unlinearities in the low- and high-frequency paths. " There you have it! Obvious! It's a techno version of Chopra wisdom!
  16. try ebay.com.... then try this if you have difficulty shipping to russia... this is totally legit service https://www.fishisfast.com/en
  17. Um not ... crossovers are not heating up... High pass does not dissipate the woofer's low frequency signal and vice versa... when bi amping with passive crossovers AFTER the amp, the Xover presents a high impedance to the amp over the unwanted frequencies. So the amp is sending the full frequency range to the XO but at the unwanted frequencies, the current is very low, ergo watts dissipated by the amp is very small for unwanted signal. Bi amping with passive XO does not prevent clipping. If a very strong low frequency signal hits the rails it will clip, creating massive harmonics.
  18. what is the risk of woofers failing on these? I understand Klipsch no longer has OEMs. So it is risky to pay much more for 20 year old speakers no?
  19. people.. remember these are Canadian dollars! worth around US 75 cents....
  20. he said he would go down to $2k canadian.. that is US$1500... so maybe only 50% more than going rate...
  21. Not mine.. http://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?requestSource=b&adId=1197696425
  22. I am running a Serbourn Pre-1 with a Bryston 4B amp... KLF20s.. sound great to me!
  23. Most stereo audio amps, and many HT receivers even have a bass/treble control when listening to stereo sources. Maybe just an old graphics equalizer in your preamp/PA loops could do the trick? I see many for sale in online classified ads.
  24. My KLF20s will need the job soon too... you thinned the titebond with water i gather. What would we thin the Gorilla/urethane glue with? acetone? laquer thinner? Not that I can't take them apart, just trying to expand the discussion.
