Yeah, HK isn't known for their room correction that's for sure. The HK is all about SQ IMO, they lack the bells and whistles most AVRs have.

We watched this last night, it was a good movie. The audio/video was very good and if you're like me and grew up in the 80's you'll get a kick out of it.

Yup, I graduated in '92. When I started looking into car audio again after a long hiatus in the mid 2000's or so, I was shocked that MB Quart had been bought and butchered and were no longer making killer speakers. Kind of like you, my last memories were of them being the best out there.

When Maxxsonics USA, Inc bought out MB Quart, they moved all manufacturing to China and the brand went out the window. Back in the early 90's MB Quarts were awesome speakers.

Yes, we also keep reading that Klipsch is harsh, bright, honky and so on. Focal is at the top of the food chain when it comes to car audio. If you want something a little softer then Dynaudio is also amazing with a much softer tone using silk domes. I'm not sure how much you want to spend on your components but you can get a set of Focal Polyglass 6.5" for $350-$450 and they are awesome for the money.

I run Focal all the way around in my Dodge diesel, amazing speakers. They are crystal clear and will leave your ears ringing if you want to push them that hard. For lows I run two JL 10w3's under the back seat in a Fox box. I use Alpine amps for the highs and lows with an Alpine 7" screen and Alpine six disc dvd changer as well. I have not heard a cleaner sounding car/truck personally. Focal is very impressive. Hybrid Audio is also worth looking at. http://hybrid-audio.com/products/

Yes, you will hear a difference between a Yamaha and a Denon on Klipsch speakers. These are not just amps, they have preamp sections which vary drastically and they each have their own sound signature. The Marantz and Denon, I don't know, they probably sound a lot a like since they are the same company. All you need to do is search these forums and you'll have people saying over and over again for the past 13 years that Harman Kardon is one of the best sounding AVRs for Klipsch when it comes to music. You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink. Most people would rather buy an AVR rated at 150 watts with all the bells and whistles than an AVR rated at 80 watts no matter how many people on a forum tell them the lower rated HK has more power and sounds better.

Yeah, I have read that from a lot of the old timers on this forum over the years but here in my house, it just has not gone that way. I chalk it up to a lot of the old timers that just don't like change, no matter what - they refuse to accept it. For some it's the placebo effect and for some it just may be nostalgia. It's almost a 100% chance that these same guys claiming this have never had the RF-7 in their home. Here in my house with my gear, myself and several friends could not pick a clear cut winner between RF-7's and Chorus II's and most people will tell you Chorus II's sound better than Cornwalls. I remember years ago they had a Klipsch gathering of sorts at Klipsch, I guess in Indy and I'm pretty sure DeanG was there with quite a few other members. If I'm not mistaken they had RF-7's and Khorns in a room. At one point one of the engineers at Klipsch or some employee walked in and mentioned how nice the Khorns sounded, not knowing or realizing it was the RF-7's actually playing. That is what I always refer to as proof in the pudding. I may have that story a little mixed up but that is the gist of it. Someone that works at Klipsch thought an RF-7 playing was actually a Khorn. I'm not implying the RF-7 will out perform a Khorn or Belle just for the record. I do know it is capable of giving the La Scala, Cornwall, Chorus, Forte and so on a run for the money.

Hah, I have a fetish. If I see a deal on CL too good to pass up I usually snag it! I'm thinning out the stock though, gonna make my push for some pro audio gear real soon. I'm seriously interested in the Pioneer units. I will be buying an AVR within a month or so. It will probably be either an HK or a Pioneer.

I have a Denon and never have liked it at all. I really like the sound of my Harman Kardon. I would like to hear the Pioneer Elite with D3 amps. I have heard a Yamaha with RF-7's and I thought it was bright. Just my personal experience.

Congrats, yes ten years goes by fast. It's funny, I've gotten into so many other hobbies and ventured off for a year or so at a time here like others have mentioned but I always come back. That's the great thing about this hobby and this forum, you can pick right back up where you left off when you're ready.

Marantz and Denon, same company. I don't know how different their sound signatures are.

Check out Harman Kardon as well. I consider them warm and love their sound with Klipsch. I'm thinking about buying an HK or Pioneer myself actually. The HK I have is older and doesnt have the new blu-ray codecs.

I have not heard the Cornwall vs the Chorus/Chorus II in the same system but I believe the Chorus was kind of a replacement for the Cornwall. In my system I had a ton of back and forth and never could really pick a clear winner between the Chorus II and RF-7. They both did a little something better than the other in certain areas. For music I chose to use the Chorus II and for the HT room I chose to use the RF-7.

I noticed that yesterday as well and I hope it's just stuff that hasn't been added yet. I seriously hope they aren't gutting the line.

If you are looking for a smaller speaker, the RS-64 would not be a good choice as you can see, it is MUCH larger than the RS-62. One of the smaller surrounds would be the RS-42. Although surrounds get much less information than your front three, they still play a significant role in the overall envelopment from a movie. You don't want to skimp too much in that area. Sign me up for that RS-64 please! [] I'll take two...
