  1. Hi Bruce, With faith, determination, will and support of medical staff, friends and families, you and Barbara will get through this. I remember about a year ago, there was a memorable quote on here from KrustyOldSarge about 'kicking cancer's ***'. Worked then and it'll work again. You and Barbara take care of each other and all the best. Hamish
  2. quote....I am reminded of his Tails of the Twins that are much better experienced vicariously than in person..... "Tails of the Twins" - now there's a thought. Have a safe trip home, Dave, Godspeed and God Bless Texas. Hamish
  3. Kathleen Edwards latest CD 'Back to Me'. There's some excellent lead guitar riffs by Colin Cripp who used to play with Blue Rodeo. The track "Back to Me" is a sizzling rocker that sounds good loud and better louder (thank you, Klipsch) and the track "Copied Keys" is a Suzanne Vega genre ballad with some great slide guitar harmony for Kathleen's voice. Listening to a Kathleen Edwards song is like having a little movie go off in your head. Her first CD was "Failer" from a couple years ago and the tune "Six O'Clock News" got a fair bit of attention. She's playing on Parliament Hill live on Friday night for Canada Day along with Sam Roberts. Hamish
  4. Nice idea, I like the idea of the horns being at ear level. I've got some plywood out in the garage. Might just try it. Somewhere on the board, I remember someone making a bass extension port that goes on the bottom of the LaScalas that raises them about a foot and gives them some more deep bottom end. Thanks. Hamish
  5. Here's Paddy and Cammie. Hey Sputnik, do they still have that restaurant that makes good pies in the skinny part of Idaho - Sandpoint, I think? Hamish
  6. I hear you, TekWorm. Amen, Hamish
  7. the Upper Ottawa Valley is pretty cool - some great music too - lots of lakes, rivers, trees - not too many people - interesting history and classic small town architecture - four real seasons - not too expensive - close enough to the cities if you need something - and no tornadoes - I was in the one in Edmonton on July 31, 1987 that killed 29 people - force 6 - just the odd earthquake here - just a little shake now and then - nothing like - oh where's that place? California? Anytime you want to drop in and check it out, let me know. Take care. Hamish
  8. 18 holes of golf today and I'm aching....how about Dire Straits - "Making Movies" - sounding pretty good right now through the old LaScalas. Hamish
  9. At one time, I used a Heresy as a centre speaker by placing it upside down on a cookie sheet (shielding) with the front face of the speaker lined up with the front face of the tv so the tweeter would beam without reflections - dialog and clarity was wicked - just looked big. I think scooterdog made a centre speaker using Heresy tweeter, squawker and a couple smaller woofers at one time. Might be a reference to it in the search engine. Hamish
  10. Ditto to the above. I've got both in the same room - different amps though. The Cornwalls are used for rock and the LaScalas are used for vocals. Different speakers - different characteristics - a matter of preference. Hamish
  11. Rick, In the next world, he's waiting for you at the gate. Take care. Hamish
  12. Peter, we could be related. I'm a Galbraith on my Mom's side. email me. Hamish
  13. That's a very cool set-up, M-Dub. Lots of hard work and thought have gone into your project. The biggest bonus is you haven't lost any floor space with a mountain of speakers. I also like how you have them in from the corners about half the distance between them, so they have room to radiate without a lot of early sidewall reflection. And I believe that doubling up speakers is like 'more violins sounding better than one big violin'. Some people with doubled up setups have inverted the top speakers so the horns or tweeters are closer together to keep the imaging tighter. I'd love to bring my 'Yes' CDs over and hear them on your rig. Congratulations and thanks for sharing. Hamish
  14. I can't upload it either, sorry. Anyway, here's my opinion. If you could find another set of Heresys, all speakers would be voice and timbre matched and give you that 'down the road' equity one finds with Heritage speakers. Take care. Hamish
  15. Fini, I'm sorry for your loss. I've sent you an email. Take care. Hamish
  16. Just picked up the newish CD "Back to Me" by Kathleen Edwards. It's a great followup to "Failer" from a couple years ago. Some great lyrics and guitar work. One track named "Copied Keys" - just instantly grows on you. And one called "In State" has a Tom Petty ring to the keyboards. Anyway, well worth giving this a listen. Hamish
  17. Something poetic about the sound of 'three Belles'. Congratulations and I'd like to hear a full report when you get set them up. Hamish
  18. Fini, Best wishes and prayers go to you and your family at this special time. It sounds like your Mom, Anita, is a wonderful person who appreciates the greatest gift of all. God Bless You All. Take care. Hamish
  19. Thanks for the great post and congratulations on the beautiful job. Handcrafted articles are 'affairs of the heart' and mean so much more. Have you thought about dating and signing them, so future generations will appreciate the full story? And I love your dog being included in the pix. Well done. Hamish
  20. They're beautiful. What's the finish on that? So much nicer than black. Hamish
  21. A few thoughts: They're going to make real ashes out of themselves That doesn't look like US beer Wouldn't want to pass gas in that kind of setup Thanks for the laugh. Hamish
  22. Congratulations Gonzo (lol) Just blow the dust off those Yes CDs and step on back. Enjoy. Hamish
  23. That's a stellar setup you have, Northshore. How do you find the slanted ceilings as compared to a boxed shaped room? I have a similar room in shape and size in the attic and find a big difference. Congratulations. Hamish
  24. A speedy recovery to you, Lynn and try not to sneeze. Hamish
  25. I think we're all bozos on this bus
