  1. The difference between a wave of LF rolling across the floor and a LF boot in the chest.[8-|] Very different bass. Kind of depends on what you like IMHO.
  2. I run 511b's with K55 drivers atop Cornwall bass bins on my garage/outdoor system. Sounds fine and is cost effective. tc
  3. "Now what do I do with all my toys????" Well, I could give the Pythons a good home. [6][] Hang in there buddy. tc
  4. "Whenever there are two or more sources (being drivers) reproducing the same sound anomalies will occur." So isn't that an argument for steep or extreme network slopes? [8-|] tc
  5. Chris, Just noticed the post. Sorry man. God bless. tc
  6. I felt great every morning but no one would believe I was close to a teatotaller for the weekend Yes seti was a real Monk on this trip......
  7. jc and seti demonstrate steps to the Hokey Pokey[8]
  8. Who cares about that sausage? Where are the pics of JC's original recipe cornbread?!? BTW...I'm glad you boys DID NOT burn down my house ! Wendstir, Thank you so much for allowing us to do this. The house rules were presented when we arrived. DO NOT burn down the house. The first 18-24hrs we were on top of things. seti kept the glasses washed and dried and I must have done the kitchen floor four or five times. Now you know me. I am the senior man here and the "voice of reason" to these youngsters. But at some point they must have over powered me. Hope you and the Wave are feeling better. Warm regards, tc PS: Thanks for thinking of me with the T-shirt. Fits well and is rather slimming I must say.
  9. Tom, Bet you are pleased with the MC-250's and Peach combo! The MC-275's were part of a tri-amp system so it was difficult to compare. I love the MC-250's for their "tubie" sound. Also if you look at other brand bridged spec's, there is a distortion increase when bridged. These MC's have the same numbers ether way. I listened to MC-275's (not bridged) last summer on a pair of closed-back Khorns and they gave the old horns all they wanted. IMHO, I would think that with your tube front preamp.......... you are there. tc
  10. Elden, You know us too well. Yes a party did break out. The only good thing about being short is that you make a tall stack look taller.[:'(] tc
  11. There has always been something about "The Little Brick" Merlin pre, even stock. But the larger power supply, premium caps, and the super tube takes it to another place. jc fed us well. Grilled burgers, low country boil, brots, and lumberjack breakfast. Sausage, eggs, and pancakes that were almost like crapes! tc
  12. What they said about the Vtracs. Built like a brick $house. Easy to work with and little if any EQ needed to match the system. They sounded wonderful! Like seti, I love the biradial horn tweet. Wish I had thought to bring my Altec 2404's to A/B. The Vtrac has to be THE upgrade for Khorns. Drop in, no muss no fuss. I am hooked on the Trax flair for midrange and these guys are just outstanding! tc
  13. The little Titan subs were hit! They did everything they were asked to do, and did it well. Very clean, controled, and accurate. Perhaps a bit polite for my taste after listening to twin 18" reflex subs. [] tc
  14. Must say that the Trax mid bass horn was a stand out with all of the systems. Very good "slam factor" even for the old slammer!
  15. Last Tues (9/6) I recieved an email (seti as well) from JWC that he would have some gear of interest to evalute if we could get to his place in Ga. for a long weekend. Not much notice, but when I saw the the gear list I started to move and got a weekend pass from my old woman. I spoke with seti and he had recieved a pass from Amy as well. Delta from Ar. to Ga. had gone up big time and was a no go. But we agreed that we needed to be there and listen to that stuff. I departed the north western corner of Arkansas at 3:00am Thursday headed southeast and picked up seti in Little Rock at around 6:30am. We loaded his K403's and DBX EQ and started our road trip. Made good driving time. Time enough for a few well deserved cold ones in a Carrollton,Ga pub before JC got off work. Mark1101 from Athens,Ga joined us on Fri and brought the kitchen system. More to come with pic's and comments but here is the list that motivated our "drop of the hat" road trip: Super Merlin Pre - Custom PC with EMU 1212 sound card - PS Audio Phono stage- Thornes TD166 MKll -Ashley XR 2001 & XR 4001 - Ashley P analog E Q - DBX 231 EQ 2 Bridged MC 250's SS - 2 Bridged MC 275 Tube amps - QSC PLX 1804 for subs K402's with K1133's - K510's with K69's - Trax mid bass bins with two K31's - Titan Horn Subs - KTP684 reflex subs - Vtrac mid horns with Beyma tweets-mid drivers both B&C and BMS- K403 horns in two way with B&C 1.4" drivers ....Bi amped CW's with 1kw Mac SS on botton - bridged MC 275's on top - MC 2100's - Jolida CDP - H'1's......I gotta stop I must stop.....
  16. ............."I wouldn't mind giving a couple KPT-415s a try"......... Now your talkin Seti!! tc
  17. What? You must be thinking of someone else.....I wrote the book on "moderation in all things".[A][A][A] tc
  18. I wonder if the wife would enjoy it? DUDE!
  19. Hey Stallion, I have been very kind and not posted the really good shots. (IE: your view of the hot tub down the hill) LMAO tc
  20. Nice looking music room.... That room is a basement bedroom at Cigar Bums home in Ga. Great sounding room! tc
  21. Lets not encourage the boy.....................[:S]
  22. Radiogram, I too read your PDF and was impressed with the work put into it. I must say that you take first place in having a different approach to the subject. Measurements are a must, but I do beleve that the final test for a speaker is the ear. And as I understand it, so does Klipsch. Having traveled down the Cornwall modification road for some years, (Alcorns, Cornscala, Cornscala dbb, etc) at times I have neglected to end a statment with "in my opinion or to my ear". Much of this comes down to taste, music listened to, and spl. I have loved the Cornwall for "out of the box, bang for the buck" since 1973. I can't prove to you with measurements how nasty the K600 is at 110db. I can only do that with the contents of my closet. At volume, the K600 would chew the legs off my trousers. (smile) It comes down to what you like. With reflex speakers my ear tells me to keep the LF in the bass bin and the mids/hf in the horns. I want vocals thru a compression driver and horn, so I cross low. But thats just me. Welcome to this place and keep doing what you are doing. Different is interesting. tc
  23. Hope you have a good one![^][G][^] tc
