  1. JM-I played the PS2 SOCOM series (S1, S2, SIII, SIV) and was in a clan [sOG] from about six months into playing the original SOCOM. I think it boils down to who you enjoy playing with. I hooked up with some guys in one of the servers and we just had a great time playing together. We had a number of qualifications for new members, the key being our desire to listen to him/her on the mic. We all really had a great time playing together. Try to frequent the same servers and get to know some of the people playing. You'll pick up some invites this way for sure. -David
  2. I understand that ebay now allows the seller to add in his "packaging costs" in the shipping estimate thereby making the added cost invisible to the buyer. I have no problem with this policy nor with sellers who pad their sales with additional shipping costs as long as those costs are fully disclosed prior to the end of the auction. If you don't like onions on your hamburger, then don't order it that way... -David
  3. Why did I read this before going to bed????? lol, thanks Roger! -David

    Best movie of 2007?

I have had this movie in my hands at least twice at the local video rental shop. I'll try to actually check out w/it next time! Thanks, Mark. -David
  7. And of course Assassin's Creed (I guess not a shooter, though - more like a knifer and sworder).... I'm going to have a lot harder time resisting the purchase of a PS3 once SOCOM Confrontation is released.
  8. Thanks, Islander. I'll try to get it downloaded over the weekend and give it a test drive! -David
  9. I'm not even sure where to start looking or what to look for. Your suggestions are welcome! Application: I will be using the software as I finish our basement theater (the bar area specifically) and would like something that allows me to place pieces of furniture (i.e. speakers, theater seats, etc) in various places in the room as well as enter the existing data such as wall lengths, ceiling heights, etc. It would be helpful if the software would allow data input for furniture design as well. (I need to design a center speaker cabinet with drawers, etc). I'm not sure what other information would be useful to you. BTW, I say, "cheap/free," as I see this as either a single-use or very limited use piece of software for me and don't want to spend an arm and a leg on something that will not be used very much. Thanks! -David

  11. damon-I don't know anything about Harmony remotes. I am using a TX-1000 by Universal Remote which has been working very well. http://www.universalremote.com/product_detail.php?model=36 It looks like you can pick them up for under $300 on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Universal-Remote-Control-TX-1000-1000-Medius-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ270198966209QQihZ017QQcategoryZ61323QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem -David

    Mr. Brooks

My wife and I watched this movie tonight. Exceptional writing and casting. Afterwards I was trying to think of another actor who could have pulled off the role of Mr. Brooks better than Kevin Costner and I couldn't think of any. Kevin Spacey would have done a great job, but Kevin really nailed this role. Great movie, but wheelman is right, you need to be in the mood. Wheelman-I remembered your words in bold above while watching that scene. Great description-the shots seemed very realistic. Good writeup. -David
  13. tommyboy-hey, welcome back! Sorry to hear about your divorce (didn't your wife post on the forum, too?) Drop in when you have the time! -David

    Rescue Dawn

What can I say? True stories are always the best in my book and this movie did not disappoint. Christian Bale was an excellent pick for the role of Dieter. Not laden with special effects, no deep bass throughout, just a good story that really pulls you in. This is the first movie in quite some time that I have actually been startled while watching, although not one to watch if you are looking for a transformers type of movie (which I also enjoyed). I got the sense throughout that I was living the experience with the main characters. My hat is off to the director. Great movie: Two thumbs up from me! [Y][Y] -David
  17. JB-if you get a chance, post a few more pics of your room. It looks really nice. -David
  18. I would be interested in reading more of your impressions should you elect to start a review thread comparing the two. Do you dare?! Congrats on the pickup, btw. -david
  19. jacksonbart- Love the room although the last time I saw a pic there were RF-7s in there? Did you get rid of them? Looks like a really comfortable place to enjoy some tunes! -David
  20. What's with all the OCC hate? I'm not a fanboy of their show but it seems to be a great promotional for Klipsch products, no? I think it'll be great to see Klipsch get some airtime, paid for or not. BTW, no, Fred's not going to be riding it....Amy is!!! -David
  21. I had not watched the show in some time until a week or two ago when I saw the episode of Vinny leaving. He was always a favorite of mine. Anyone know why he left? They didn't come out and say it, but it appeared to be Vinny getting pushed to the background and the new designer (works on a computer in an office mainly) getting moved to the forefront, although that could simply have been an "issue" of the episode. I was disappointed in the attitude of the owners Sr and Jr when they said that Vinny was replaceable. While true, he was an employee who was with them from the beginning and truly had a huge impact on their success. What's the harm in saying he is going to be missed, was a key part of OCC and irreplaceable? Must have been some bad blood there, somewhere. -David
  22. I have Aragon 24k preamp that I picked up in a package deal a while back and am considering giving it to my assistant's husband in return for some help he gave me (he's a professional mover). Anyway, I would like ot ensure that the deal is fair to both parties but really don't have any idea what this bugger is worth. I would say it's in average/fair/not great/not bad shape, although the previous owner had scratched his last name and SS# into the top of the enclosure. I've had it hooked up a couple of times but haven't listed to it closely. So I really have two questions: 1) Approximate value 2) Is this something that I should hold onto? I could pick up a cheap receiver for him for about the same price and keep this if I am giving something away that has really nice sound. (He's not what I would call an audiophile). Thanks for your help! -David
  23. Check out this link! heh heh heh http://www.klipsch.com/news-center/press-releases/details/orange-county-choppers-builds-klipsch-theme-bike.aspx I can't wait! Truly a beautiful thing! [Y][Y][Y] -David
