Hi bdbaba, nice old console. They do make nice pieces of furniture if you have the space for them. I have an old 40's Philco with the doors on the front that I use as a TV stand for my 36" Toshiba, it looks cool in amongst my more modern surround sound system. Unlike old radios the consoles are too big for most people to have a huge collection of them so as was already pointed out they aren't really that valuable/expensive and as such a lot of them are hauled off to the landfill site or gutted and used for something else.

Hi Michael, sounds like you solved your problem that's great. The easiest way I know of to reset a remote back to its origional factory settings if it doesn't have a reset button is to take out the batteries and hold/press down the buttons to discharge any residual energy for a minute or two. Works like a charm. Cheers

Hi Dentman, welcome to the forum. I own a pair of Kg 3.5's and I think they sound awesome. Right now I'm using them for surrounds on my computer with Kg 4.5's and KV3. I was using them as mains before I purchased surrounds for my larger system and brought the 4.5's down here. I was impressed with the fullness of the sound from the 3.5's, very nice. I think another forum member ,Thebes, has a pair and enjoys them. What kind of condition are they in and how much or little are you paying for them? Good luck on your deal.

Hi johnyholiday, I don't know what the crossover point is sorry, but I did notice that Klipsch has removed crossover points in speaker specifications. I noticed this just within the last week when I was trying to check Chorus crossover points. Any idea why Klipsch would delete these? I think the info was useful. They should put it back, my opinion.

Tried posting this morning but the forum wasn't working so I saved it in a rich text document to post later. Looks like we already got some action, way to go wstrickland1! redtop, hehe, no I've not done it before, I just looked at pictures of the 30's and 20's (in discontinued floorstand) and measured with my mouse pointer. The 20's look like it would be a really tight fit, I'm not sure if the magnets are bigger than the horn front. I have 3 pairs of Chorus II's, 3 in front and 3 in rear, so I know how much better matching speakers (especially the fronts) actually sound. I use Opera as my main browser so I didn't see any picture. I took a look with IE but it only shows up as a box with a red square in it. Those are still fairly new, Klipsch would probably still stock the parts, have you tried asking your Klipsch dealer for prices? A KLF30 would make an awesome center in my opinion. It might be less expensive to look for a pair that perhaps isn't in the greatest of shape and make one from them. It looks like the KLF30 could accomodate having the mid and tweet turned sideways and centered between the woofs. You could probably just knock out the motorboard and install a custom made one and be able to use the same cabinet. The ports I'm not exactly sure but couldn't you move one to each end and just cover the remaining hole? Hey good luck on this, it sounds like a good project and having three KLF30's up front in your HT will be awesome.

What I did is use the left surround back channel and then select the SurroundBackX1 setting. I'm using the Pioneer 56TXi and that is the correct setting for me, not sure about your Harmon Kardon, doesn't the manual have instructions for setting up a 6.1 setting? I'm really liking the 6.1 setup, it's nice that you can do it with 3 pairs of speakers and not have 1 sitting idle. HTH

Way to go vman71, I know you will enjoy them. For my third pair I was able to fit them in the back seat of my Topaz by taking out the back seat and building a flat platform. I used a sheet of that fake wood panelling with carpet on either side in between them so they wouldn't get damaged. It was a really tight fit, we had to push the first one part way out the opposite door in order to squeeze the second one on top. I was going to rent a minivan but by the time I figured out what I'd have to pay for the extra mileage and gas on top it started getting real expensive. It was a 14 hour drive altogether. Good luck!

MrMcGoo, thanks for the info. IIRC you're using the same reciever as I have for a preamp but are using more powerful amps. Right now I'm using 240/250/240 across the front and 110/110/110 across the rears. I agree at -10 it is plenty loud enough and even then I've seen peaks approaching 90 db in the room on some movies. As for amplifier size I do agree that bigger is better just for the sake of headroom. Although there are some wonderful sounding 50 W. S/S amps out there one better be prepared to keep their listening levels well within the amps range unless they're prepared to spend the money repairing broken/blown speakers.

My recommendation would be to look at a Bryston 4B. The older ones at 200 WPC can be had for less than $5oo.oo, newer ones for more. Excellent/articulate bass response. I have a question about the "Amplifier Power Required" calculater. From what I see this is for checking using only one speaker. Wouldn't you need to add an extra 3 db for each additional speaker you are using into the Loudspeaker Sensitivity chart to get a proper measurement?

Hi firedawg24, I used Kg 4.5's with a KV3 center for about 8 years. They are not a good match for the Chorus II's. They are also rather large themselves and the 10'' woofer will not keep up with the 15's in the Chorus. Here's the sizes of the different speakers, Kg 4.5 DIMENSIONS: 37.5" (95.3cm) x 12.25" (31.1cm) x 12.75" (32.4cm) Forte II DIMENSIONS: 35.4" (89.92cm) x 16.5" (41.9cm) x 12.25" (31.1cm) Quartet DIMENSIONS: 31.2" (79.25cm) x 15.9" (40.39cm) x 12.25" (31.12cm) Academy DIMENSIONS: 23.25" (59.06cm) x 11" (27.94cm) x 10" (25.4cm) Actually the forte's aren't a whole lot larger than the Kg 4.5's, 2" shorter and 4'' wider. If the size of the Quartet's or Forte's are prohibitive go with 3 Academy's. All of these sound good together and you will be much more pleased with the overall matched sound. My Kg 4.5's and KV3 are a good match for the Kg 3.5's that I bought and they sound awesome together on my computer. HTH

I waited and watched for deals on near mint Chorus II's. I have 3 in front and 3 in back, sounds pretty good to me. You can pick up a pair of Chorus II's for the same or less money than an Academy although be prepared for a lot more shipping costs than an Academy.

garymd, I just picked up a pair of KG 3.5's today that I bought on eBay last week for $139.00. Not totally minty but they perform great (actually pretty awesome) and look good, just to give you an idea on pricing. Those 4's sound like a pretty good deal, let us know how they sound.
