  2. Agreed. It's possible to get those inverters up to or maybe evern beyond 400W but that's not the best way to go. What's the fuse capacity you're using now for the lighter?

    THX KT PACKAGE

    Love those huge horns. Impressive.
  4. I believe your RXV has speaker sets for large and small. Set your speakers to small and use the LFE input on the RW12 bypassing the crossover (or set it as high as it goes) so your receiver handles the cut off. Happy listening.
  5. Why? Because I don't think music or movies are heard until they're felt.

    Subwoofer?

Visit the subwoofer forum here; this topic is covered at length. In general you'll get poor performance out of the KSW's. Klipsch will provide you with quality subsonics for a moderate price. Your top of the line will be a product from JL for example (of course there are more expensive products but at greatly diminishing returns). The best value will come from brands like SVS and HSU but the absolute best bang for your buck will be DIY. You'll want to do some research on the sub forum before determining your needs, then budget, then product. You'll do fine.
  7. I know like through RMS guys, RMS!!! Remember you 18" woofer RMS through the big big, gorka gorka slap stick. Know what I mean and that?
  8. It's hard to figure out even where to start. Any suggestions? I know that's a question with a billion correct answers...but anything'll do.
  9. I love the rock of the eighties, nineties an today but never had a feel for anything prior to that. I think it's because my father (I'm 30 now by the way) always had the radio on the golden oldies station that played the same ten or twenty 60's and 70's pop tunes over and over until I was nauseated. Is that all that this era put out? No way; now I'm discovering the hard rock of old and freaking loving it! For those who grew up in that era what was it like? It seems like such an amazing time to me.
  10. True enough. I made my own interconnects for most of my college life and they sounded great. Some I didn't even crimp or solder. No worse audible quality than the store bought cables I employ today. Actually I kind of have a soft spot for all that home made stuff we used to rig. Sure was fun. And cheap.
  11. It's post Christmas bills and woes. Paying off last years purchases and breaking this years resolutions...until next summer when we feel the need to impress ourselves and our friends. Until then sweet subsonic dreams be with us all.

    RW-10d help

There is a varitable plethora of answers to these questions if you do a search on this forum. Not meaning to be dismissive of the subject, just an fyi if you want multiple, extensive answers/discussion on these topics.
  13. The use of multiple ports is exactly for various tuning configurations. I'm no scientist but common sense says that port noise should increase/decrease with the ratio of circumference to area of the port mouth. Two 3 in ports carry a total circumference of 18.84 in while the area they provide is only 14 sq in. A single 6 in port carries the same total circumference but allows an area of 28.26 sq in. My powers of reverse engineering at this time of day aren't allowing me to figure how large a single port would have to be to allow the same area as the 2 3 in ports
  14. Ear, I love you man, but I really don't know what went wrong in your life to always need more and better everything than anyone else in the world! Me have more than 6 digits in account! (right) [A] Some people do get impressed. Live your life brother...for yourself, it's not for us to watch. It really does brighten my day to read your posts!!! But after one like the above filled with nothing but one-up-manship, I feel a little bit sad. No offense intended. I just hope you have people around you who care.
  15. Some large hardware stores have similar devices. My local has a vertical saw with a vented sliding blade and a base that can rotate 90 deg. The things I could do with that piece of heaven!!! Now if only it could mitre I'd trade in a car for it...
  16. It's called Minwax Polycrylic. Supposed to be crystal clear - will not amber.
  17. At first I wasn't sure what you were talking about as the KSW-12 isn't much of a floor shaker, but what I think you may be talking about is the "boomy" factor. That model is a notoriously mid-bass boomy sub with very little linearity. Getting it out of the corner and isolating it will improve your response however "mid-boom" is what this model tends to produce regardless of location. The solution, then, may be to get a more linear sub. I have solid oak flooring as well and a much more substantial sub however vibration is kept to a minimum. I can't recommend much else than what's already been stated except I wouldn't recommend simply turning it down. If you want less mid-boom and more integration with your system you may want to research other options to drive your low frequencies.
  18. Nothing particularly special about this thread or craigsub. Do a search in this forum and you'll see that this one is mere watercooler jabber. []
  19. Which is why the fathoms cost 2 to more than 3 times as much. Bang for the buck is low. And $11k for a Gotham? Seriously diminishing returns. BTW the Ultras are what I was referring to as higher end than the previous models.
  20. That appears to be the trend; SVS is going the more compact, eq'd, single driver higher end way instead of the multi-driver bare bones box direction. I wouldn't say price to price on this one yet though as you can pick up a PB-12+2 now at a mere grand.
  21. Oh my. That elemental doesn't look like a bad sub. I haven't heard any plausible reviews, however so I have no record of quality. It looks like a direct knockoff of the SVS PB-12+2 or Ultra 2. I can vouch for the brute strength of the +2 when it moves around furniture at 18Hz. I think it's still about $1200. Careful how you use the SVS name around here though. []
  22. That's actually a fairly good comparison match. If it was the new ultra13 driver it would best the 12d, but since it's the older Ultra driver there's some give and take between the two subs. What's your budget? Size constraints? Listening habbits? These will lead you to your choice. Honestly you wouldn't be making much of an upgrade, and the fact that there are pluses to the Ultra that the 12d would lack (such as audibly less depth) then you may want to just stick with what you've got. It's up to you.
  23. Funny situation. Google any review of the groove and the dock and you'll see the groove is superior, but I recently read a review about the igroove vs the sounddock on ilounge. I was expecting the obvious bias toward the dock but the review really focused on the remote using IR technogoly. They couldn't get off the subject and slammed the groove because of it! Who cares??? Then they stated the fact that Klipsch touts audiophile grade sound but their reply to that was that SQ is completely subjective! Their conclusion was that the dock was better because their remote uses different technology and because the groove doesn't support the nano (which it does). It had nothing to do with how either of them sounded. Why would you care how a sound system sounds anyway? Sad...
  24. Which is one reason wattage ratings can sometimes mean almost nothing at all. Resistance is just as much of a factor, and remember to consider the logarithmic nature of SPL against power output.
