  1. Cliff, I am not sure that we should view combat and sport as equals, with the same rules. Would you advocate the same rules for business too? If so, why all the bellyaching about Wallstreet and all the lawyer jokes? Are the whiners all "*******" who simply can't play "hardball" with the "big boys"? Is that really where we want our country to go? So, all is fair in love and war . . . . and sport, and business, and . . . . . . ? Patrick, the idealistic ***** (singular form of "*******") Edit note: LOL, saw the *** and added the parenthetical notation above. Apparently the plural is okay but the singular is vulgar.
  2. It might be legal, but it shouldn't be. I mean, for crying out loud, it is BASEBALL, not football. Seems weird to allow this potential to exist.
  3. Gary, wow, it is like old times . . . . .. next we will be seeing Andy teh builder/soldier, Allan Songer, Parrot and Kelly-Mobile whatever, etc
  4. Hey Piranha, LONG time since I've seen you post; mostly just lurk here myself these past couple of years - - life got in the way, as it were. Hope life has evened out for you and things are going well. Best regards, Patrick Oh yeah, happy belated b-day Craig!
  5. I have had this gentleman redo a 2330B and a 2285B for me and I am VERY pleased with the results. Caveat, he is in such demand that there is a wait list . . . . but if you are going to keep the 2500, it would be well worth it. Patrick http://vintage-electronics.home.bresnan.net/
  6. are the walnut chorus 1 or 2? If 2 i will buy them
  7. YIKES, muy bueno mi amigo. You never cease to amaze me. Best to the family, Patrick
  8. Well, give me second crack at the walnut fortes, please. If it falls thru; not trying to start a bidding war amongst forum family.
  9. Yesterday afternoon was warm too, even in Santa Barbara . . . . . of course, the fact we were pumping 38 yards of concrete may have influenced my perception of the heat; none-the-less I was sweating like the proverbial ***** in church. Never been to church with one, but i did read a book about it. LOL

Truths For Mature Humans 1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die. 2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong. 3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. 4. There is great need for a sarcasm font. 5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet? 6. Was learning cursive really necessary? 7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood. 8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died. 9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired. 10. Bad decisions make good stories. 11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day. 12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again. 13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to. 14. “Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this - ever. 15. I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damn it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice mail. What did you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away? 16. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste. 17. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call. 18. I think the freezer deserves a light as well. 19. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay. 20. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option. 21. Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what the heck was going on when I first saw it. 22. I would rather try to carry 10 over-loaded plastic bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in. 23. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to finish a text. 24. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger. 25. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said? 26. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters! 27. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever. 28. Is it just me or do high school kids get dumber & dumber every year? 29. There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far. 30. As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate bicyclists. 31. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is. 32. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet my *** everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time!
  11. there is a pair of cornwalls for the same price in your state http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/133899.aspx I think most here would say to keep the fortes and to get the CW's too
  12. The cherry CW's are doing great! I only need to put a couple logs in the fire pit, pull out a decent bottle of wine, put on some Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits, old Jim Croce or even Alison Krauss and Union Station . . . and momma likes 'em LOUD . . . .so life is good! Hang in there my friend. My best to Deb and John and you too! PS I still wonder what it would have been like if i had gotten the rosewood khorns . . . . . .
  13. Jordan, my friend, I was not trying to "one up" you. Yours is a great saw; alot of the former members of the Knots ww'ing forum where I USED to hang out really love theirs. Being the proud benficiary of the fine craftsmanship you demostrated on my CW's, I have no doubt you could outperform me even if you were using a rusty handsaw. My best regards, mi amigo, Patrick
  14. Jorjen, nice saw. I have heard alot of good things about the grizzly products. I got into ww'ing a few years back and got a PM66. I wish it had a riving knife. I have been debating getting a SawStop due to the safety brake, but i always have something else to spend the money on. I have always used Forrest WW 2 blades and have been very happy. Last weekend i added an HTC outfeed roller table, which folds down for storage, so my better half doesn't have to "catch" for me . . . . something i sensed she never enjoyed - go figure. Say "hi" to the family for me. Patrick
  15. Afraid? Hardly. Me thinks you confuse fear with pity and disappointment. Muslim? Irish Catholic, last I looked.
  16. Jasonbart, I am glad you took the much more dangerous job; most women just don't appreciate the danger inherent in tending fires. Also, if she does this well enough, maybe for her birthday you ought to consider buying her a snowblower of her own. Just a thought . . . .
  17. Hmmmmm, Elvis???? Never heard any of his songs, and don't care to either. Didn't even know the man. However, I do remember a dude called Cat Stevens who had alot of GOOD songs . . . . . introspective too. Sorry all, I just couldn't (and obviously didn't want to) resist!
  18. Dear all, 1. the bad guy is a jerk and would seem to be in need of punishment, but not by the neighbors. 2. i have no problem with any of us defending ourselves or loved ones, but when he was running away, caught and detained . . . . .he should have been detained, not butchered. 3. if we want to be a civilized society, they we need to act up to the standard that we want for all of us; do we all want to go back to the wild west? the real wild west, not the romanticized crap in the john wayne westerns? 4. don't we all have an obligation to each other to "do better" than the neighbors did in this case? don't we want our neighbors to act better than these "neighbors"? 5. or do we all want to be just a different brand of gangbangers, more affluent and living in suburbia? And Neo, you muslim lover you, "Deer" is already plural, so don't add an "S".
  19. You can't be serious!!!!! Edwinr, I just read the Wikipedia entry on him and it would seem to portray a peace seeking man. What am i missing? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat_Stevens
  20. Well, I got to admire your optimism. Somewhat like Cal, mine has put up with me for 31 years in spite of my foibles . . . . . and i often wonder why . . . . i guess i have some redeeming qualities somewhere . . . . or else she likes beating her head against the wall. I would urge caution and suggest you take a deep breathe. There are a lot of good people out there, but there is also a lot of baggage too. Remember, you are auditioning them; don't think the first one to come along is the only "right" one for you. Eventually you will find one that is more right than the others . . . . . just don't delude yourself. Restated, make sure you are in love with her rather than the idea of being in love. We all want to be needed and loved and cared about by someone special. You are not desperate - - - - you always got us! Good luck, be wise, be safe, and take your time. By the same token, it is your gig, so feel free to disregard all of the above. What would be right for me may not be right for you.
  21. as the kids would say: OMG! as us adults would say: NFW dude, or WTF, i can't believe it. Seems as the Good Lord wasn't doen with that pilot yet.
  22. Mark, thank you. The 2 in question are still branded McIntosh . . . but I have no idea how long it has been in there, as I only acquired it within the past 5 years . . . . . I appreciate the help. Patrick
  23. I looked at it again last evening (ie, in the dark) and there is an orange glow, but certainly on the faint end of the spectrum . . . .
  24. I am sitting here listening to a MC 240, and noticed that 2 of the small tubes are not glowing . . . . but hot to the touch. It is daylight, but i can see the orange glow in all the others. So, if a tube in an amp goes bad, will it stop playing or will there just be a degradation in the sound?? If it matters, the 2 are a 12BH7 and a 12 AU7. Okay, maybe it is the questioner rather than the question that is dumb . . . . . . but either way I'd like a little guidance. Thanks again, you tube dude gurus, Patrick
