  1. I agree with J.4 on moving the sofa & putting the Mits/mains/center on the current sofa wall + putting the RW-12 on the angled wall. If you also consider puting the 15s as surrounds ... I'd say sell/return/upgrade the RSs to RF7s for mains if you can afford to. One important point u failed to say ... R U married? If so, without positive WAF all our suggestions are just like pissin' into the wind! peace, mitch PS ..., good call on the Yammi, ....
  2. Ok ... some people will say that this is BS but ... are your speakers new out of the box & your cousin's have been used fo some time? Let your spekers get broken in some, especially the woofer's rubber mounts not too sure on the horn's comp-driver. The Denon is a good match for the reference series but I'm happy with my Yammi which some say is too bright. To my ars it's just right! Hope this helps some. peace, mitch

  4. Bo$e AcushionMash!? Runnin' & duckin' 4 cover ....
  5. I was wondering what would be a good price range for a used HK3270? It would be used for 2-ch (2.1) music only listening bedroom system. Pros/cons? While I'm asking ... same ?s for a Pioneer PDR-509 for use with my main system. Thx. peace, mitch
  6. Good Lord! They didn't just beat it with an ugly stick .... they used the whole ******** TREE!!!!!!!!!!!! Definitely a looong term fixer upper.
  7. Trey ..... I will most likely make the meet'n greet on Fri nite ... it's nice to put real faces together with the online names. Saturday's definitely out due to Vintage IN Wine Fest & Sunday depends on what time Jennie DeVoe's performing @ a benefit for IndyFeral (feral cat assistance organization) in downtown Indy. Gotta roll. peace, mitch

Thanks ---------------- So I guess I have $100 sitting in my closet since I never took the grills outta da box & used them. Hmmmmmm, what to do .... what to do? I guess that's the nice thing about living alone (well, there is the cat too) is there ain't no kids to worry about putting stuff in the horns! Plus I love the look of the Reference speakers better without the grills. Good luck. peace, mitch

Yesterday he calls me, says he's got the Lp's in his van, come over and get them. We're in the same business complex, so I'm there in five minutes. OMG, about two hundred and fifty LP's by what appears to be in VG++ too M condition. All rock spanning from the late sixties, too the early eighties, the majority being the 70's. Last night a little Crimson & Pink Floyd, Final Cut. I figure it should take me about six months to clean and listen to each album once! Tom --------------- I guess that beats me getting ELP's Tarkus (Mint) & Grateful Dead's 'Wake of the Flood' (Mint, Grateful Dead label pressing) for a quarter each @ a yard sale. Plus I got ELP's 'Pictures at an Exhibition' (Cotillion label) cassette in the 'slide in' case for a dime. peace, mitch
  10. I use "Thank You, goodnight..." by Jennie DeVoe (www.jdevoe.com) who is a musician out of Indy. This CD is a live recording that is one of the best sounding live recordings I've ever heard. Track 1 'Whisper In The Dark' is really good with a djimbay (percussion) intro then some keys then the vocals ... crystal clear (to my ears) and great separation & soundstage placement IMHO. Am ,I biased on this CD? ... mmmmmm, maybe a bit ... see my board name. peace, mitch
  11. Don't know what he's been smokin but pleeeezz pass that blunt my way ASAP & I'll just go home and chill out listenin' too my obviously inferior over-priced RF3IIs. Damn you Klipsch for making such over-priced sucky sounding speakers here in the ol' USA. peace, mitch

Ragdolls can get 20-25 lbs to. Considering that, my 15 lb Flabby Tabby seems somewhat svelt. peace, mitch

  17. 75 wpc will be sufficient for the 35s but MHO would be to try to find some 3IIs if u can. They're better soundin IMHO than the 35s or 15s and can be found at better prices if u'r patient or able to find them. Best thing is o let ur ears decide. Where r u locatd & what receiver do u have?

  19. I just made a little tweak to my HTR5550/RF3II setup that made a world of diff. I have a 14x24 tile floored living room (wheelchairs don't roll easy on carpet ) with a 7-foot sleeper/sofa along one wall in front of sliding louvered doors to the furnace niche, window w/drapes & a 56" wide hutch on the other wall. My 3IIs sounded good but just were a little 'shallow' sounding for my ears so while listening to a live CD that I'm *very* familiar with I first moved the speakers about 5 more inches away from the wall. Noticeable improvement but needed a bit more, so I played with the bass and settled on putting it to +1 ... ohhh yeah, John's djimbay (sp?) intro on WitD really started to jump! Then I played with the treble and settled on putting it to -1, restarted the song, closed my eyes & HOLY S#&%!!!! ... it was like being back @ the show that the recording was done at. Perrcussion slightly right of center, keys left of center, guitar mostly left, bass mostly right and Jennie's sweet smooth vocals coming straight down Broadway .... cranked it to -15 and it still sounded smooth as silk and aside from the increased db level it was as clear as listening to it at -55. Try little tweaks until u get the sound u like.
  20. This *should* work ... saw it on some woodworking show or antique show. Get some de-natured alcohol and wipe the affected area (start with a small spot) .... maybe have to set an rag soaked with alcohol over the area for 5 mins or so, I can't 'member. Basically ur wanting the alcohol (IT HAS TO BE DE-NATURED) to get under the lacquer finish so that when it dries/evaporates the water trapped under the finish evaporates too. Obviously check with an antique restorer, not a refinisher, to be sure but most any furniture restorer that's good will know what ur talking about. I've seen this done on several pieces and it's amazing the great look that u get without damaging the orginal finish. Good luck.
  21. From what I can remember , both in here & talking to other people, is the SF-3 is *basically* an RF-3 (maybe an RF3II) made with the Synergy line cones/horn. I have 3IIs and will upgrade them when I can afford 7s. I wasn't overly impressed with the 35s in an A/B comparo of the 35s to 3IIs. Let ur ears tell you ... if *YOU* like the SF3s ... get 'em. peace, mitch

Using matched set of RF 3, main, center, sides and sub woofer. The subwoofer will be placed in the lower left and I may add one on the lower right. The mains are above and the center under the middle of the screen set back a bit. I am using grille material on the cabinet doors and positioning the speakers against the grilles. What is the best way to position the subwoofer. The cabinet box size is roughly a 28" cube. Should I line the inside of the cabinet box with acoustic material. Thanks ---------------- If u can afford to ... get an RW-12 or 10 for the setup you describe since the RWs are FF/FP (Front Fire/Front Port) and perfect for what u wanna do. I'm not to keen on puttinhg the mains inside the entertainment center .... just think u'll lose the optimal reflex from the rear ports. Consider this: make the lower enclosures on each side for the sub(s) and place the mains on top of the sub enclosures as u planned but don't put a side or back on this part so ur not tunneling the reflex sound from the mains. U can still put doors in front of the mains by making a storage area across the top to match the base width and run a 2x2 or other wood piece to monut ur doors to. U still get the grill cloth door look without compromising ur mains sound. Just my 2 abes worth. peace, mitch

I'll only go to the one store & deal with the same sales associate (thankfully he's an audio GEEK, in a good way) but he knows my needs, budget & what I want out of my system. He keeps me informed (he called me when the HTR5550s were being clearanced @ $180 'cuz knew I wanted to do better than my Sony DE485 but don't have $800+ for a Top Line unit), gives me great pricing and I can call him @ work on tech ?s or general info. I won't even go browsing there if I know that he won't be working that day. Loyalty does run both ways if u work it right.
