  1. OK so I only got around to brewing one batch, an imperial stout, it is in the fermenter now and the yeast is pitched. It was hot today had trouble getting the wort down to 70 to pitch, I was even using a wort chiller it was hard I could not get it below 80 so I wound up setting the boil pot on ice and added some very cold water. I am hoping this does not skunk due to the heat issues today. That would be a major bummer.
  2. Oh I whole heartedly agree. I too use the DoubelWood as my "daily" , I used to use The Glenlivet 12 Y/O as my definition for a good pedestrian scotch, which I guess it can still fit that role as it is a scotch you should not go less than IMO. But The Balvenie just makes me grin and relax, the DoubleWood is just a nicer fuller bodied scotch with a notably smoother finish, and the Single Barrel just takes it to another level. Yeah a scotch thread would be a good idea.
  3. Soooooo.....The baby backs were mmmm soooooo goood, fresh corn on the cob, the yeast starter will be ready in the AM, watched the local fireworks for my front porch w/ a 15 Y/O Balvenie Single Barrel and an Onyx Reserve.......twas a good day. ps...beer santa = bad ...that is why I do not bottle!!! don;t mind sharing but have no intention of being the local neighborhood distributer.
  4. Not to hijack your thread but that is a nice looking Bull Terrrier ya got there.
  5. Obvious answer is another CW II but if that cannot be accommodated then a Heresy II should do nicely.
  6. Jay, You are doing home brew brewskies? Sounds good with the ribs and corn. Our church has a cookout early in the evening. Then we take lawn chair out to the parking lot. We're located just up the hill from the city park where the fireworks are launched. Best seat in town. Yep I do the home brew thing. My timing is a bit askew as I'll run out of my ESB before I get the new brews out of secondary fermentation and kegged. R/Jim
  7. Sounds like a good fun weekend. We could really use the rain as we are on water rationing for things like landscape watering total of about 20 minutes/week.
  8. Sorry DP.....What is this a 2 for one I hit post once and it posted twice.[]
  9. Yep and they have a dressier look too!
  10. hmmmm I do not know if I'd call any of those a failed attempt. Just like the CW III Klipsch listened to their fan/customer base and brought them back! Well done Klipsch, being a Heritage guy I always liked the 7's
  11. Aside from our traditional 4th of July BBQ (smoking baby back ribs n cookin corn on the cob on the grill) I'll be brewing at least once and maybe twice. For sure I will brew an American Amber Ale but possibly an Imperial Stout as well. How bout you folks whatcha doin this weekend???
  12. Happy BIrthday indeed Ms Rose. Hope you enjoy your day.

  17. don't say that I clean my brewing equipment with that and I am 47 lookin 50 right on the eye, I mean c'mon I still haven't got a good recipe for an imperial stout or double IPA worked through yet.[]
  18. or a public park! That is why I need a blank/starter pistol. I am thinking the Alfa .22 is what I going go with I just wish I could still get the NEF.
  19. That is one I am considering pretty heavily. That is their replacement for the NEF. WC21 tell me about it I have had some absolute crap ones. Thanks guys
  20. Why you ask??? Well ...the dog sport I play in requires the dogs to execute an obedience routine (specifically healing exercise), while two or possibly more gun shots are fired. I have tried inexpensive ones but the firing pins are garbage and fail in a short period of time. I am tired of sending them back for new ones that exhibit the same problem. I have been looking for a NEF pistol but they seem to have been discontinued. Anyone know where I can find a good .22 blank revolver?????
  21. Wow, these are the kind of life's dealings that I struggle to find appropriate words to express my thoughts. So let me just say this. Prayers most assuredly go out to you and know you can bend our ears or strain our eyes any time. Keep you chin up, you are one of the really good people in this world.
  22. In the words of the immortal Forrest Gump, "Stupid is as stupid does".
  23. RIP . This is sad, she fought a brave fight.
