Thats some of the most highly figured walnut I have ever seen... looks almost like rosewood. Whats with the extra wood layer around the mouth on the LF section?

Some music can ONLY be played on a "player piano" because it would otherwise be impossible to physically perform live. that being said... I would MUCH RATHER listen to a mechanical device playing an acoustic instrument than a recording of a mechanical device playing an acoustical instrument.

I keep bidding on a shure on ebay but I keep getting out bid to the tune of $30 or more. it's been like this for months.

well then there's that^... and on top of it all, a proper digital high definition recording probably needs further handling/processing to make it sound superior. but there is still a WOW factor with HD digital that goes beyond a simple newness. perhaps some of it is system related also. I just received a Genesis remastered Vinyl box set last night ($$$), and have not had a chance to listen to it yet... I know the very same set was available on SACD and DVD-A, but I did listen my a new copy of King Crimson's "Red" on DVD-A and all I can say is WOW.

I've been asking myself over the last month or two, is Analog source material dead? I have a fairly sizable Vinyl collection along with a good Analog front end in my system, but lately it seems when I listen to a SACD, DVD-A or Bluray Audio disc, that the sound is at the very least equal to my very best vinyl discs and in many many cases, the digital medium is seemingly considerably superior in Sound Quality. I can upgrade my Analog front end, but now we're into 1500$+ cartridges, another Turntable at perhaps another 2500$, and more tubes for my Pre-amp/sut at 125$ea... when a great DAC with top of the line DSD decoding begins at around 2500$'ish or less. I know Vinyl is on a considerable up tick over the last couple years, perhaps based on Nostalgia... but with really great DSD, why choose an Analog source material? discuss.

I asked for pricing, clarification and lead times on delivery for whole system. if it's not feasible from a price stand point, then I won't buy it... but I will never know unless someone writes back to me answering my questions.

SVS subs are good but in no way a substitute for the effortless sound of a horn loaded subwoofer. That's what I was waiting to hear jason... but you never got back to me via email...

I can pick up these SVS PB2000 for $1,000pr... a few months old and owner says warranty is still good. is this a fair deal, good deal or wait for a horn loaded sub? I would be giving up my SW-115 and replacing a single 15 with dual 12's... I am looking for MUSICALITY over HT, but at least 20hz would be cool!

if I was only closer... I probably still wouldn't buy these.

the recording itself is superb... very well engineered. the composition needs a little getting used to because I am so familiar with and used to hearing Levin in a fusion atmosphere and these particular compositions are more traditional based and semi ragtime at some points even though bill Bufford wrote a couple of them... still overall a great purchase.

I installed my new Phillips SQ's and listen to the brand new Levin brothers Vinyl... both came int he mail just this afternoon.

that is exactly my observations with about an 3 hours on them... mid upper range is really nice and well sorted, dimensional and extends well past my hearing range with authority without harshness. I will give it much more time before changing back to genalex just to hear the differences.

How long do you guys wait until you deem a tube not right for youe system? An hour... hours... or days worth of play back? After changing out my genalex with phillips sq's I feel I gain some stuff but lost a lot of lower register impact and quality.

so that's a garage HOME THEATER set up?
