  1. The Grudge and The Ring were both Japanese concepts both done VERY well; ultrahigh in the creepiness factor. Not too many movies will give me goosebumps but these do. I have both movies, but have been mulling around for months about getting Ju-on and Ringu although I haven't seen those. Anyfeedback folks? Are the originals worth a purchase.? I
  2. I'm with ya on the bass! I love breakbeats, Oldschool rap. Grew up in FLA so bass was a fairly heavy scene. I also love metal: from Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, to Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, etc. FLA also had a big death metal scene too (not too sure why) but I love Cannible Corpse, Deicide, etc. If it had a big phat guitar riff I probably tried to learn it at some point. Jazz: mostly bop and earlier Classical: almost all Baroque. Electronica: you name it. I am listening to Kruder and Dorfmeisters "sessions" as I type. I can appreciate just about anything if it is "good" in my opinion[] I find that I just don't have enough to listen to.
  3. Carlos Montoya was an oldschool flamenco-style playa with mad skills. Quite flashy!!
  4. Hey Thebes, I used to. I took several years in high school and a few in college. Unfortunately, the older I get the more it fades: It is not like the metaphor of riding a bike where the skillset just "comes back" to me. I just don't ever use it anymore. The previosly mentioned http://babelfish.altavista.com/ is a very crude, but very effective translation device. Cut and paste your cyrillic text that needs translation -- you wont get a perfect translation, but you will get a good idea of what is being said. Good luck!
  5. Does anyone know of any future "super deluxe ultra mega cool box set" versions of the LOTR that are coming out that encompass any material not already released?
  6. 11:20 Maaaan that would be one heck of a marathon. But certainly worth it. The last movie marathon I sat in was at U of Fla: it was a "bad movie marathon" in which the more movies you sat through the less money you had to pay. If you sat through all of them you paid nothing. I can't remember all of the movies but I to recall the classics "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" and "Killer Klowns From Outer Space" the rest were equally forgettable.
  7. Was this about the guy who went to Achtermachtie?
  8. Just remember rplace as you are sitting around in your undies: "All work and no beer makes Homer something something" Does anyone know offhand the total runtime for all three extended editions?
  9. I've done it several times! Do I win anything?[][] Oh wait... You said IQ OVER 80
  10. Geez Damonrpayne, why don't you tell us how you really feel! As a lifelong fan of all things disgusting and disturbing in music and movies I have to say Zombie hit the nail on the head with the center of the hammer with his two movies. I think Zombie's feel for the 1970ish "B" horror flick was dead (bad pun) on. The gore was certainly not as top notch as, say, Peter Jackson's "Dead Alive" (yeah, the same guy who did Lord of the somethinorothers trilogy that made a bazillion dollars) but the shock value was still good nevertheless. I reviewed "The Devil's Rejects" several weeks ago in this forum and I think it has had three whole views since then. Evidently, the number of folks who like this sort of stuff is even smaller than I thought. Not for everybody for sure. [6]
  11. Some earth creature stole my Illudium Pu-36 explosive space modulator as well... []
  12. Lots of strong wind and rain at my house. Many people were without power this morning. The brunt of the destruction was in west AL. Mississippi got torn a new one.
  13. I cannot disagree with the logic.
  14. Now that everyone in the family has camera phones I'm going to put'em to use.[]
  15. I haven't been to an actual real-live movie theater in ages but one of the "younger" fellows was transferring to another school in another city... like we needed an excuse to go out, drink adult beverages, and bond by watching violence. Interestingly, I had to find the theater manager about 30 seconds into the movie: in his words, "We have a DTS board that's about to crap out." As there were only four other people in the theater, I doubt anyone else would have even noticed. For those who don't know, this was Rob Zombie's sequel to "House of 1000 Corpses". (one of my all-time favorite horror flicks and a favorite for when Halloween comes around) This was one of the most sick, twisted, demented, sadistic, tortuous movies I have ever seen. Oh yeah, I was loving every minute of it. The plot was... well actually this one had a plot as opposed to the first one. The acting -- over the top. Dialogue and music: top-notch. For the first time in decades I was able to tolerate Skynrd's "Free Bird"
  16. Mr. Doodles is more of a kitten really. He came home with my wife one day after my father-in-law's cat had kittens a few months ago. I had no choice in this matter and my opinion was not considered. It didn't take him long to start doing what I didn't want him to do. He has made quite a habit of running up my RF7s and sitting on top of them. On close inspection the grills are doing quite well, in fact I can't tell that he spazzes out on them. Since my wife and I no longer sleep with our bedroom door open due to the cat jumping on our head all night long, Mr. Doodles usually greets us at the door after we first wake up and go out into the living room (the first thing one sees is a RF7 and behind that is the TV)all the while meowing and hollering that it is time for his breakfast. The other day I had to get up and go to work early (4am-ish). Since I was in a hurry, and it was early, I politely told Mr. Doodles that he was going to have to wait for his mother to get up before he was to be fed. In the most flippant and defiant manner a cat can be flippant and defiant, he meowed, turned, swished his tail at me, and then proceeded to walk INTO the speaker via the rear bass port. words... cannot... express... my hatred... for this beast.

    Gattaca

Definately a cool movie. Very stylish especially for a sci-fi flick.
  18. Blues recommendations: Cobalt, aqua, turquoise, indigo, azure, cyan, navy, cornflower, and sometimes teal and violet.
  19. Everything you see in my signature for under $8k. I have no idea how many DVDs, CDs, etc I actually have. Protection provided by Remmington 12ga, Para-Ord. P-12 limited high-cap .45, and an insane cat.
  20. Bagpipes and Organ:Polka and Fugue -- never a finer combination!
  21. ALWAYS ready for some football. But for this year I've got the TV to watch it on. Still haven't figured out what HDTV route I am going. I'll be present for a few Falcons games this year, and if I can swing it, when I visit my folks, a Bucs game. SEC football should be particularly entertaining this year.
  22. I must love whine because my wife does it all the time.
