  2. All I can say is that, in general, the power ratings listed on speakers of all brands is somewhat amorphous. In sum, 100W of clean continuous power could be fine whereas 25W of ragged and clipped power could be damaging. Regarding the specifics between two models of Klipsch, I'll leave that to folks with more specific knowledge. Thanks,
  3. Please see the below link. (I am not affiliated.) I'd make it "switchable" but I'm unaware how. Thanks! "http://www.craigslist.org/pen/ele/41128160.html"
  4. I swear, there are times I think my "schwartz" can penetrate anything! (Yes, yes, Spaceballs makes an appearance on the Klipsch Board!) All Hail Mel Brooks...
  5. ---------------- PS I know the K horn is made in Hope, AK. ---------------- Merely as a point of emphasis from someone who graduated from the University of Arkansas, the quote above indicates Hope, Alaska. The State of Arkansas USPS moniker is "AR". "There, another state to pick on." Thanks!
  6. ---------- "Yeah, she should be able get a few of those red rocks off! " ---------- Okay, maybe I'm the prude but, for me, this statement went just a tiny bit too far. Don't get me wrong, I'm a proponent of inneuendo in the right context: this was just a seriously ham-fisted missive attempted in an improper forum. I'll get over it. (Such is, of course, merely my personal opinion.) Yours in Klipsch,
  7. I like it merely because I am a fan of evil and Darth Vader-esque monochromatic colors!
  8. Wow! Old-school Fords and Klipsch Heritage: we seem similar in most respects. You don't, perhaps, enjoy single malt scotch and imported cigars, do you? That would be frightening! Very nice ride. I must apologize for the poor "ambiance" of my photo. I was testing a new digital camera in front of "duplex city" before I bought a house. In hindsight, owning that car while living there was like using Cornwalls in a mobile home: Oh the humanity!
  9. A different option that dismisses most virus concerns? The one I use? Use an iMac!
  10. It sounds as if you're on the right track, although the concept of not having a gain control just seems odd...
  11. Same thing happened (bogus e-mail) to me while bidding on some Altec Lansing Model 19s. Truly a slimeball effort...
  12. Hugo Montanegro's (sp?) Orchestra performing, "The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly" stands as the best western theme of all time. (Okay, it and the theme from "The Magnificent Seven" vie for the top slot.) Or, you could just do something crazy like back the bullets flying with Kid Rock's "Cowboy". It would be, at least, a more modern sound. Thanks,
  13. "Wrapped up like a duece, another runner in the night?"
  14. Just a personal note on the Sansui in the test. I use a G9000DB (160W +160W) with Cornwalls remaining fully aware that it is overkill. I have heard tales -- completely believable from equitable sources -- of harshness at certain frequencies using similar combinations. My receiver was recently re-capped along with having the DC-offset (a prime indicator of distortion and harshness) evaluated and squared away: I have perceived no harshness. With similar service, it is possible the noticable harshness in the tested Sansui unit could be reduced or eradicated. This is not to be a Sansui apologist but, rather, to indicate that ANY vintage solid state amplifier is likely to be improved with requisite modern day care. At this point, a 1985 receiver model is nearly twenty years old! Thanks,
  15. Newbie: 1. I use an ancient, re-capped, SS receiver (Sansui G9000DB) 2. I own 1984 vintage Cornwalls. 3. I've exprienced no "harshness" or "mid-range ringing". 4. If the source is good, the sound is good. I'm O-U-T. You guys are talking above my head, anyway... Thanks,

    war songs

"Nowhere to Run", by Martha and the Vandellas. While not, technically, a war song -- it's about a lover -- try listening to it and not thinking about early Vietnam and going "up north".
  17. I listened quite recently to the Pet Sounds album, widely considered Wilson's "artistic triumph" to date. His original analog mono mix was difficult to listen to using Cornwalls but the revamped -- under his direction -- stereo mix removed a ton of impurities. (Purists will say, correctly, that the recording was changed from the master mix.) In any event, like Dark Side of the Moon, Pet Sounds is neither cliche or tired. If Wilson has regained his touch, I'll have to get his new album. While the songs are great on Pet Sounds, production value was revealed to be, itself, an art form. Is 'Over My Head produced in a similar theme? Thanks,
  18. As horn/woofer hybrids go, I've listened extensively to Altec Lansing Model 14s and found them to be quite servicable. A such, I was terribly interested in locating a pair of Altec 19s, with a larger woofer and superior horn, prior to locating my "bargain priced" <$40> Klipsch Cornwalls. Actually, I'm still curious about the Model 19's timbre, as they are typically touted as being excellent in auditory reproduction, but I cannot imagine them being comparable in value or -- dare I say it -- significantly superior in sound. As such, I'm happy.
  19. It's pretty hard to beat Isaac Hayes's original Shaft recordings: it typifies the sound of a generation and, frankly, sounds really cool pushed through my old Klipsch Cornwalls. Of yeah, it "works well" for the wife -- which pleases me to no end! "Long live Isaac Hayes." "Yes! All hail Isaac Hayes!"
  20. Approximately 30 folks, out of ~17k, being "evicted" is a ridiculously low number. I'm new here, I haven't had any moderator run-ins, but that statistic alone indicates that anyone who claims "heavy handedness" on the part of forum rulers is choosing a difficult enterprise: it just doesn't seem so. Besides, this is their "house". If I did something offensive in your home I'd appreciate a warning (best case), followed by a GET OUT if I continue. That's the moderator behavior I've seen and it seems equitable. (I've lurked for about 30 days.) 1. I purchased Klipsch Cornwalls and was looking for information. 2. I received a plethora on this site. 3. Anything else is extraneous and I feel compelled to indicate as such. I'm O-U-T on this particular issue. Thanks!

Many Klipsch Forum Members do RIDICULOUS things with their posts and think they're hot S%$T! "My attitude is improving."
  22. Excuse me, I mistakenly thought you were addressing me, guess you were posting a response to Amy. Either that or you are thinking you can cover your tracks. ---------------- Does this qualify as "childish tactics"? I've lurked here for about two weeks, received much valuable information on my Cornwalls, yet am already growing somewhat tired. I'm merely one person with limited scope but I think this implies a problem. I'm new to the Klipsch world, have all sorts of newbie excitement and energy, yet sense undertones of frustration here? "Not good." I'll lurk/post more, however, this could just be a short term trend.
  23. ---------------- Zeke, I suspect your power output meters are not giving you an accurate indication of what's happening. It's almost a certainty you're using more than 1 watt. ---------------- Always a possibility! Of course, even accepting this notion, I contend that ridiculous amounts of wattage are just that. Hence my curiosity with the final result of this thread. Thanks.
  24. I brought this back up, not knowing of the "ban" or anything else, because it just seemed ridiculous. I use an expertly refurbished Sansui G9000DB (1978) w/180W per channel and anything above 1W drives me out of the house...total OVERKILL. It sounds great because of high amplification quality, new caps and/or transistors, etc., but still... 600W is INSANE. I understand it was his right but, well, damn...
  25. I'm a "new guy" on the board who has been perusing everything to be found under "Cornwalls" using the forum search. How did this potential debacle turn out? Thanks,
