  1. Those in the UFC are highly trained fighters who learn a host of different fighting skills and also need to develop great endurance and strength, who basically spend almost every day training and honing their skills. They have to learn to defend themselves against wrestling, boxing, Thai fighting, Ju-jitsu and Judo to name a few. The only thing they may have in common with a bar fighter is a certain inclination for combat and perhaps a desire to have a beer every once in awhile.
  2. Didn't I read you saying that you powered your mains with a couple of K2's?
  3. Nope. Lol, your answer was a bit terse. Care to elaborate. If there is a short of some kind in the amp that could cause a shock, would that not trip the circuit breaker in the power cord and cut the power.
  4. http://www.lowes.com/pd_145257-33536-C629171___?productId=1135905&pl=1&Ntt=circuit+breaker+power+cord I had a similar issue with a power amp and adding a cheater plug also stopped the hum. Through some reading I bought the above power cord that I plugged the cheater plug into for some added safety. For those in the know does this not make the ungrounded amp safe from possible shocks.
  5. Lol, parting out a Magnepan is pretty funny! The drivers are just thin ribbons. Put it up for sale as a single and see what happens.
  6. While the frequency of the low end might state 34z, they go much lower. When I have played bass test CD's in the past, my CF3's start shaking the room when the test disc starts hitting the 25hz tones.

    Are we alone?

According to this guy, who has tons of vids on those from other worlds, the ET's have no interest in the things or peoples of our world, and earth has been put under quarantine from other races because it is such a dangerous and unwelcoming place to visit.
  8. One of the easy visual cues to help in determining versions when looking at pics of the Epic line is whether or not you can see the wood through the port. When viewing a typical downward shot without the grill, if you can see the wood it is the shorter port and so version 2 or 3. If you can't see the wood as in the pair above, it is the longer port. For me that is a quick way to narrow it down, along with the grayish drivers and horn. ON version 3 the drivers and horn were black as well.
  9. Yeah, I noticed that afterwards. That is a bit troubling, as they could be mismatched versions. If he were near me, i would offer him money for just the one from 94 to use as a center channel.
  10. How did you figure that out? There were no pics of the drivers and I didn't see any S/N's listed. If those are v1's and end up selling anywhere close to the $299 mark somebody will have gotten a great deal. Arrow through the pics, the s/n's are there.
  11. Nice set of MWM's in Southern California, if anyone is interested. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/ele/5257026851.html
  12. Epic CF3's on Ebay, pick up only in Connecticut. These are version 1's. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-CF-3-Floor-Standing-Speakers-Epic-Series-/171961341496?hash=item2809b1d638
  13. the CF4's sold for $650. thats a good price for those. Did anyone here buy them?
  14. Well, his starting bid is $650. his buy it now is $975. They have the shorter ports, so probably a version 2.
  15. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-Epic-CF-4-Speakers-/321882520768?hash=item4af1b17cc0 For anyone interested, there is a pair of Epic CF4's up on Ebay.
  16. great score. i'm glad you got it. Perhaps, a pic once its in place.
  17. You have a lot of Klipsch speakers. Are they all in play?
  18. Perhaps, he will ship, even with a shipping charge, it would still be a great deal.
  19. Wow, what a great price. I have the same one and it is a great center and looks good as well.
  20. I'll chime in as well. Over 12 years now with my Epic CF3's version 1's. Though hearing a great many speakers over the years, there is still no desire to replace them. Before these I had speakers from a company called Audio Physic, their Tempo lll's. They had a claimed frequency response of 35hz to 40khz. Extended highs to be sure. They were a beautiful speaker design covered in cherry wood, and the company's credo was "No loss of fine detail". One of their great qualities was that they would disappear in the room when playing, which was one the things that made me want to buy them and had them for about 2 years or so. But I wanted to try horns and bought the Epics having never heard them. Bought them on Audiogon for $650. They were shipped from Minnesota to me in California without trouble. I loved them from the moment I put them in their place and sold the Tempos soon after. Wonderfully full bodied at lower night time listening and rock and roll slam when cranked up. The speakers have a lot of bass and to my pleasant surprise the Epics also disappear in my room pretty well too. With eyes closed, I hear music in space without the Epics calling attention to themselves. Contrary to others here, I have never found them to be bright and found the highs if anything, to be slightly rolled off, perhaps because of its 2 way design. I also love the large sound field the big horn centered between the drivers produce. A Big bold voice on these. My only complaint is that the sound field can be low at times because of the height of the horn and contemplate elevating them. My visit to the Newport Audio Show this year brought that home again. I listened to many great speakers there and noticed the height of the presentation compared to the Epics. The reason I have hesitated doing so is because of the sheer size of them as they are and not wanting to create a more imposing profile in the room. Perhaps, if I find an ideal stand, I may do so. Here is a pic as they stand with a C-7 for a center. one day I will get another Epic for center duty as others have done. Grills off just for show. The screen is 9ft wide for reference.
  21. I have recently become interested in amps from Rogue Audio. Check out their integrated called the Sphinx. It has a tubed preamp section mated to class D power. it also has a good phono preamp from the reviews I've read.
  22. Also, make sure the speaker taps to the highs are tight. One time on my CF3's the nut behind one of the posts became loose and that of course effected the sound. I had to pull out the crossover network and tighten it from the inside.
  23. Your link led me to notice there is also an A200x3 for sale for $600 that caught my eye. His ad is quite good and inspired interest. I just noticed that you have one as well. What can you say about that amps qualities?
  24. I have had the RB991 for over 10 years, though it has been sitting idle for the last 4 years or so. I used it with my Epic CF3's and thought it was a great match with the Epics which I have found can be a bit demanding on an amplifier. It has a damping factor of 1000, puts out slamming bass when called for and did its job without issue and to my eyes, it looks good as well. I wanted to try the amps XLR outputs just for fun and purchased some XLR to rca cables from monoprice to connect with the Pioneer Elite receiver. Though I read it is not truly a balanced designed amp, I used it that way for the rest of the time that I had it in use.
