  1. I have kept up with this thread, as it has many problems with it. But, to just cut to the chase, some Kipschoholics need to get laid!!!!![] I could have gone with the scientific angle, but figured the sex issue should come first! Oh and by the way, mines bigger than yours........[]
  2. If you have the RF 7s what are you messing around with that old outdated Heritage stuff for?[] Stick with the RF 7 and you will be happy. Unless you want to upgrade to the new series coming out in a few months........
  3. Your Pioneer is fine. Your system should sound quite good, if it has all the bass you want, then you are all set until you do a major upgrade. Enjoy!
  4. I would make life MUCH easier! Whatever you do, buy a 7 channel amp for ease of setup and use. My recommendation is to make sure it has 200 watts per channel or more. The Sunfire is a fantastic amp and puts out huge amounts of power. You can also find them used for substantial savings. You will most likely never even give a Sunfire a hard days use. With RF-7s you would be deaf. You will have a LOT of headroom for 98% of your listening. Good Luck!
  5. Sheesh! I plan on getting the Sub12 and then a whole new series will be introduced soon. I guess I'll wait. It will be interesting to get all the specs from Amy so the new subs can be compared to the old. I'm wondering if the cheapest new Reference sub will overlap with the Sub 12, thus giving the Klipsch dealers a direct sub to sell against the Sub 12. Gee, I can see those Klipsch marketing minds working now....... They are going to give the dealers some more product to sell to for the entire range of prices. Also, slimming down the lline would be good too. Too many choices just mucks everything up. A nice linear progression in a speaker line is easy for everyone to understand. Next year should be fun!

I hope the people who are saying the 10" SVS sub blows the Klipsch Sub12 away have actually heard the Sub 12 when set up properly. It will put out massive bass. Now it may not put out massive 20hz bass, but in reality it will put out 25 hz. Everyone acts like it has a 36db slope after 30hz. McGoo is correct, it is a stunning $450.00 sub. The least expensive full service sub (for most applications) on the market. If you go up to the 12" SVS models, you are paying quite a bit more money percentage wise. It is a dollar/performance issue. If we had Klipsch price it at $650, they could double the amp power used and build a bigger box. So, you always have to look at the price in this low priced range of subs. Now in the high dollar range, Klipsch will have a new one out soon from what I hear on these boards.
  7. Dr. Who, your post is full of wisdom. I can't add anything to it. Well, except that if he is only using 1/2 a watt or so, he has plenty of headroom......
  8. The conversion stories are fun to read. Once you listen to Klipsch side by side with another brand, you will almost always pick Klipsch. I have said before that I have always wanted a nice Martin Logan setup for home theater and music. After listening to them critically in a well set up demo room, I found the Klipsch sounded as good or better for MUCH less money! This put my Martin Logan dreams down the crapper. So I just stick with my Klipsch....... Remember, if you don't buy Klipsch, don't buy at all! Many of you are guilty of breaking this fundamental law of the Universe....... It is a proven fact, that more scientific discoveries of such importance they will change life on Earth, are done when listening to Klipsch speakers. The proof is in the pudding, er, uh, I mean in the listening!
  9. I was at Best Buy and they had the Synergy surround system set up in a large space abou 40ft X60ftX25Ft. The system ROCKED! The bass (Star wars DVD) was awesome. The SUB-12 can easily fill a normal room with thunderous bass. I was EXTREMELY impressed. It is far and away the best sub for the money that I have ever heard. I am going to buy one as soon as they hit $450.00 at Best Buy. Oh, and they had a Bose system set up with the Bass Module kicking with everything it had. It was weak, in fact VERY weak compared to the SUB 12 and it was the large Bass Module. A sad state of affairs for Bose. The entire Synergy system sounded amazing in a HUGE open space. I can't believe how some people knock the Synergy System, it is the most speaker for the money, and the best buy available. It easily outperforms systems costing 50% more. They are beyond belief amazing!
  10. It all depends. If you use high quality speakers, it is much less important. Going from a Sony center to a real Klipsch center is like going from a Plymouth Horizon to a Corvette. It would certainly make a nice difference.
  11. Computer experts, I need help. Here is my problem. I get on to the klipsch site and the forums are 3 years old! I'm looking at ancient stuff mixed in with new threads. It is a major pain. The "last post" date and name is also from, say 2003 and it is listed as "today". I have already tried spanking my computer by hitting the side of the monitor, it didn't work. Any help will be appreciated.
  12. I was actually thinking about the capacitor issue until wires were mentioned........ You are just baiting me.[] I will not take the bait on the wire issue this time....[]
  13. With the new magnolia room fever at Best Buy, is your head honcho salesman going to get Klipsch put in the high end room? Leaving them out in an aisleway with the Bose speakers will pretty much undo the entire reason that Klipsch started with Best Buy. I would think this needs serious, immediate attention or the Klipsch name is going to go down hill with millions of Best Buy shoppers. Something needs to be done, already the sales help (ignorant untrained youths from Juvenile Detention or the Geek Squad) are starting to knock Klipsch products as "low end". As you know, if someone plants that seed in a persons mind, it will stick. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know.
  14. I have to say jazz horns. That is what made me by my first pair of Klipsch. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING sounds as good as horns on horns. It puts the instrument right there in the room being played live. But so much sounds so good on Klipsch that it is hard to pick a best. Everything sounds awesome! My center channel really rocks and I have even tested it by itself and it makes a darn nice speaker of one. Klipsch stuff is so much better than most speakers out there....... so read my signature line and then live by it!!!!!
  15. What you guys need to remember is that some people just don't care about quality of sound. He bought Bose and he likes it. That tells you right away that all the demos in the world will not change anything, as he is basically deaf. People with serious hearing problems buy Bose. So a demo will NOT help. They will not "hear" anything different. Sad to say, but many people just can't hear diddly..............
  16. I have to agree with Colter. Buy something in production. Good Luck on setting up your new system!
  17. None of these guys will admit it..... they all secretly want a Reference system! [] Serously, you always want some overkill, as you never have to push the speakers hard so the sound is always effortless. That is the problem with the cube speakers, they just don't cut it for a " live theater sound" for home theater. I still like the thread where the guy has an all CF system. That would be another killer set up......... Klipschophiles seem to love overkill, it gets me going..............[]
  18. That system will rock! Sheesh, that is massive overkill. I like it!!!!![][][]
  19. Oh, and if it's any consolation, Stereophile rated Radioshack's general speaker-wire as Class-C or something for cables. Cough, choke, wheeze.....you mentioned Stereophile! You were doing great until you mentioned "Class C". I rate Stereophile as Class D. []
  20. At your local pro audio store you should be able to find a 6 foot cable with an RCA tip on one end and an XLR on the other end for about $10 and this is by far the easiest way to do it if you don't wanna build it yourself. Words of wisdom! I vote for the easy way out........
  21. I think you guys understand my point. I'm just saying if they can come out with a $1000 sub that goes mega loud in the main everyday listening area of 30hz and up rather than mega low (20hz) it would claim a title of sorts as the best bang for the buck for Home Theater. It could be ANY design as performance would be paramount. I guess another way to do it is to give us 75% off Christmas coupons to a select few Klipschophiles (me of course) on the THX dual set up with amps. Good responses from you guys!!
  22. I would not use Mink oil. Go buy some inexpensive 100% silicone spray (Walmart or auto parts stores.) Spray it onto a paper towel or cloth and gently wipe it on the surround. This will protect it and not hurt the surround. You would need to do this every year as it is buy the heat. The silicone goes on wet and dries over the next day or so. Don't put it on heavy enough to run down onto the cones. You will be happy with the results! Good Luck!
  23. Don't pay to have them fixed! Just throw a decent driver in the one speaker and sell them off for $800/pr. Someone will take them. Then buy those RF-5s or 7s. Vandersteens are NOT worth the money IMHO. I have listened to them versus Klipsch many times over the years. Good Luck!
  24. Amy, are there any plans on making another bigger sub, in the "Sub" line? I'd like to see an $900.00 monster of 15 or 18 inches to get more volume, not necessarly going a lot lower. It would be nice if you produced the sub that had the loudest fairly accurate 30hz to 35hz level in the industry, the need to go really loud below 25 to 30 hz really isn't all that big of a deal. I would also take a much larger cabinet than the sub 12, probably about 3 times that size....... Just thinking about a killer HT sub that didn't cost $2000 (or more!) to buy but made VERY loud explosions for the money!
  25. I agree with the others. Get the sub and keep the RF 5s. At that level (RF 5s) I would not worry about upgrading to RF 7s at all.
