  1. Geez--you guys with your high $s--- you spend a couple grand on cables I'm sure, too--they see you coming![] I couldn't be happier with the Adcom GDA-700 used off eBay--less than $200-- older unit that works smoove--
  2. Wow -- Ben Folds with the Perth Symphony Orchestra is terrific. As each song finished I kept thinking, damn I wish I was there-- Lush backing to Folds' melodic songs and a hell of a show. Fold's banter between songs really gives insight to the origination of some of his songs that I used to wonder where did he get THAT lyric from? Funny as hell-- and his made up song Rock This ***** and getting the huge orchestra to back him on it is stellar and again funny as hell. Thing is, Folds is goofy looking. He comes out wearing a crappy old shirt you saw slackers wear in high school, but damn he can play the piano, sing like an angel, and rock the house with an orchestra. I'm glad he's not a household name -- this show is incredible-- beautifully recorded too --

    Spidey 3

I took the kids to Spiderman 3 yesterday -- a great movie. And yet, the standard was set so high with the first two that you feel its not quite as satisfying--there's almost too much going on. But wow what a ride. The effects are dazzling, the fight scenes are innovative and close-up. Kirsten is radiant, and Peter Parker's dance on the dark side is funny as hell and ominous at the same time. Spidey fights so many villains and has so much trouble with his love life in this edition that its dizzying, and after its over you realize its been one-damn-thing-after-another. Tobey Maguire saves it with his knack for making you care about this guy in tights. I love this series, but I hope 3 is the last--
  4. SDog-- is it similar in feel to Fear of a Black Planet by Public Enemy? [H] Seriously, I'm gonna check this out - Are you a fan of no-man, Blackfield and other Steve wilson creations? What else is great by him? BTW , Vacuum by the Watch is very good--
  5. The recipes' in the Weber grill manual--but tweaked a tad--
  6. I'm always amazed at how consistently good the ribs are at Sam's Club. And that's the secret--you buy the ribs from the right place. If you don't have a good rack of meat to start with, you can't experience rib rapture. Sam's Club has sealed ribs, usually three large racks, for $25 to $30-- I let them sit at room temperature for a half hour or so with a little salt and pepper on them before grilling with indirect heat for 2 1/2 hours. And you apply loads of great BBQ sauce the last half hour. The sauce has ketchup, worcestershire sauce, vinegar, mustard powder, sugar, lemon juice and salt&pepper that is mixed into a saute of chopped onion and celery in butter. Gotta have the celery. The great Sam's ribs have flavor good enough to match the tangy sweet in the sauce. A mess to eat, but that's part of theor charm- One of the few things I'm not humble about -- they are do darn good

    Watch Now

Have you seen the new "tab" with Netflix? As part of a membership, you can view streamed full-screen movies. The choices right now are limited, but hey its more service for the dollar and again a kick in the pants to Blockbuster-- You just browse for a movie, click Play and within 20 seconds you're watching it onscreen-- I recently viewed an Australian movie called "Alexandra's Project" which has got to be one of the best/worst/frightening divorce movies made--sexy, too
  8. Pat Metheny-- so many styles and such an unmistakable tone--
  9. So agreed -- The Live at Leeds reissue a few years back with three times as many songs is evidence. What a great sound and vibe they had-- Quadropenia still amazes me--Pete did almost all the music--
  10. I'm headed to Boca Grande for a few days and taking the iGroove, so I looked alot for some kind of bag-- My favorite luggage store in town cut some foam to go into a small 9.75 x 18 bag to protect it--does the trick--
  11. Dittos on making your listing as close to bullet-proof as possible. I had almost 500 transacations last year and never saw the issues you discussed-(knock on formica)
  12. Da Gators will repeat-- so unseflish and skilled. cbssportsline.com has great brackets that you invite friends to set up their picks and you make the rules and scoring --They figure your scores for you--too late to do now, though. Try it next year--
  13. Too bad you're not a basketball fan -- the Madness has begun!

    300

"300" is a beautifully made movie of glorious violence that illustrates the 300 Spartans beating back 2 million Persians back in 500 BC. Based on a graphic novel which was based on actual history. The visual effects are breathtaking and the heroic comraderie is infectious -- you find yourself pulling for these warriors to survive. Powerful metal soundtrack that emphasizes the action. The acting off the battlefield has weak moments where liberals are scheming while their warriors fight, but the intensity of the battles is riveting. This movie looks and feels different with dark, almost black and white cinematography and creative blood spattering and slow motion effects. Highly recommended--
  15. I just got an HG because it was a newer model from Klipsch on eBay with free shipping and the warranty -- what a deal and what a great sounding unit. I think the only difference is the MicroTractrix Horn -- is that right? All other specs are the same--
  16. If you find the perfect bag--please advise. I would not be happy if this black beauty got scratched whilst in transit--
  17. Yes -- Going for the One . Great 70s prog, but not considered a classic by Yes standards, yet its probably my favorite after all these years. Beautiful and powerful and overreaching in places, but that's why its good. Two longer suites and three cuts with somewhat song structures--all are favorites.
  18. Ok -----> got my money back But, where to get the cheap downloads?
  19. I've had KG5.2s for 16 years, and love their look and sound. Refinished them and DeanG did his crossover magic on them. They're not Heritage, but for the size they sure fit the bill. Fantastic bass and smooth mids and highs.
  20. All good things come to an end, but is it really over? I've downloaded dozens of albums from www.allofmp3.com and its sister alltunes.com from Russia for more than a year now. Really cheap ($2 an album) and darn good quality. But, they started taking payments only from third parties the last few months, which has worked until this last installment of $20 to clickandbuy.com, which is supposed to get you a prepaid card from xrost, com. No card and ignored e-mails-- Anyone else dealing with this site? Are there other alternatives for cheap downloaded music? Apple getting 99 cents a song irks me-- BY the way, has anyone tried LaLa,com? I saw a promo in our Tampa post office, of all places, and tried it. You list the CDs you'd like to have and the CDs you have you'd like to trade, and they send you a pack of prepaid mailers. You pay $1 per CD plus 75 cents for postage per traded CD -- and it works. I've traded four and the CDs I've gotten are great. You can also buy CDs from them, too--
  21. If you leave for a week vacation and can't truly enjoy yourself until you get back home in the LaZBoy with the speakers pumping--
  22. More Prine: "The Missing Years" and "Lost Dogs and Mixed Blessings" both produced by Howie Epstein, the bassist for Tom Petty, who adds melodic production values to Prines great songs. Both CDs are a great listen throughout. Prine has a an incredible gift with imaginative lyrics -- you' snicker several times listening to his ruminations-- Folk Rock.Country
  23. This is by far the best year for competition-- there are at least four girls that could win it, and man they can sing. The boys are not as impressive, but there is definitley alot more talent on the show than last year-- I bet it will be five girls and one boy in the final six--wagers? (just kidding, Amy)
  24. I've revisited Elvis Costello this week-- I don't get his later stuff, but the albums "Armed Forces", "Get Happy" "Trust', and "This Year's Model" are classics . He and the Attractions are having a ball --this stuff reaks with attitude--and that's good. I'd call it punk New Wave pop --from the late 70s and early 80s
