  1. Hi Turbox, I used a JubScala (402/k69 on top of a LaScala bass bin for center between my Jubilees. It worked perfectly. I also tried the 510/k69 atop the LaScala bass bin as center and it worked equally well. My recommendation for center, per your parameters, would be a 510 atop a LaScala bass bin. The only thing missing in the LaScala bass bin is the very deepest information, that likely isn't is center channel anyway. A LaScala bass bin with 510 will also be under 36".
  2. Glad to help, Cameron. Congratulations on your next step toward Klipsch Cinema. [] I will look forward to your pics, comments, and thoughts when you get them home.
  3. Not affiliated. yada, yad, yada . . . I found a pair of 1976 LaScala's for sale in Andover, KS. http://wichita.craigslist.org/ele/3459738679.html I inspected these this afternoon. The cabinets are structurally sound and quite clean, but they do have a couple of corner dings and veneer chips from handling. These were purchased with a Rodgers organ and were used in a church. The interior of the horns and crossover area is surprisingly clean for a '76 vintage LaScala. They each have a Rodgers S100-C amplifier mounted inside the upper cabinet that will be easily removed. I have no info on the Rodgers amps. The seller, Todd, has indicated a willingness to take $600 (without the Rodgers amps) as a bottom-dollar. Todd is a organ player, not an audiophile. I'm happy to assist anyone with questions or additional info, if you like.
  4. My biggest audio regret is too many years of unprotected hearing of lawn mowers, power tools, guns, motorcycles, flying airplanes and mixing sound for bands without a pair of these:
  5. Yes, that's Dane Lorenz. He fabricated metal grills for a bunch of KP-110s. Great job - great price.
  6. First follow Trey's instructions to remove the white grill fabric backing and clean the grill and frame to remove any potential impurity build-up. I just finished spraying grills and frames on a pair of RCSW-5s to match new wall color. We wanted the speakers to disappear, so they were painted the same color as the wall. The match is perfect. I used an Earlex 5500 Spray Station with Benjamin Moore Regal Interior Latex Wall paint with an eggshell sheen. I thinned the paint about 10% with water and sprayed with the 2.0mm tip. I was amazed!! That little sprayer actually sprays latex wall paint!! I have also used it to spray black General Finishes semi-gloss milk paint with a 1.5mm tip over Klipsch pro speakers with terrific success. http://www.amazon.com/Earlex-HV5500-Spray-Station/dp/B004RGOKR2
  7. According to the spec sheet on the attached link from 1998, the KPT-100 with a K-761 tweeter crosses at 3000Hz. The frequency response on the spec sheet would suggest there may not be an x-curve roll-off in earlier models from 1998. I believe there was a KPT-100A and a KPT-100B. http://web.archive.org/web/19980704172210/http://www.klipsch.com/
  8. $700 for a pair of 450's is a very fair price.
  9. Hi Tasdom, The KP-450 woofer is the same woofer as the KPT-904, with two K-45 15" drivers. The hi freq section is a K-60 driver on a K-501 horn. If all drivers are operational, the system will sound fantastic. If you get them and decide you don't want to keep them, I will buy them from you. Attached is the info sheet. If I lived in ABQ, these would already be in my garage. 'nuff said? KP-450.pdf KP-450.pdf KP-450.pdf KP-450.pdf
  10. We tried to use the P.L. 700B for PA work in the early '70s, driving LaScalas. The amp quickly earned the nick-name "Fails Linear", because the entire row of output transistors would fail. I spent a lot of time with a soldering iron and a box of output devices before we surrendered and returned to the Crown DC300. The Crown amps were much more reliable and sounded better.
  11. This is great stuff, Trey!! Thanks for posting . . . . When can we see more info on the new commercial speakers? I see we now have a Ki-396 and a Ki-52, but no info is available on the site. Looks like we're going to have more terrrific speakers to add to our collections. We need more . . . . Thanks, Bill
  12. Hey, Turbox, Does she want something Bose, or does she want something small? A much better alternative to Bose in the "small" category might be one of the Klipsch Gallery Airplay. Wireless control with her iPhone, small footprint, can be taken to other rooms or outside, if desired, AND, I'm told be friends in Indy that it sounds fantastic. http://www.klipsch.com/klipsch-gallery-g17-air
  13. We did just that for a friend building a new house. In rooms where they wanted TV/home theater or 2 channel, we used in-wall or in-ceiling in appropriate configuration. The rest of the "common areas" are covered with the dual-channel in-ceiling speakers. We installed 24 in-ceiling speakers in total. There is music everywhere . . . . .
  14. Golly, Turbox, this one is really up to you. It all depends on whether you want one of the best horn loaded bass cabinets made, or something lesser. [6][] I have owned all of the Klipsch-made horn-loaded woofer cabs. While the MWM is fantastic, it is somewhat impractical for home application, given the usual floor space restrictions and w.a.f. For the typical home application, whether 2 channel or HT, the Jubilee bass cabinet is the best bass cabinet I have ever owned. Period. Now, you pick . . . . .
  15. Hi Klipschtastic, Having installed and used many in-ceiling speakers, I have never found voice matching particularly important. A speaker mounted in the ceiling will sound a bit different from the same speaker mounted in a wall, given the difference in orientation of the listener to the source. In your application, you are not attempting to establish a stereo image or "stage", but rather to provide uniform coverage of the audio throughout the listening area. In this type of application, I have found the dual-tweeter, dual-voice coil in-ceiling speakers offer a good solution. Both left and right channels are delivered from the same speaker source. http://www.klipsch.com/r-2800-csm-in-ceiling-speaker Two important considerations when designing for this application are 1) uniform coverage of the area which may require mulitple speakers, and 2) the ability to control the volume (loudness) of the speakers separately from the "main" system. Sometimes you may want the ceiling louder, sometimes softer.
  16. Thanks, Michael!! Those are, indeed, the brackets Marion has with the KPT-100s etc.
  17. Hi jordan 122345, I sent you a PM. One of our forum members has a nice RSW-15 for sale in Dallas. In the next few weeks, we are doing a "pony express" run from Dallas to Wichita and Nashville to Wichita, then on to Denver. If you are interested, we may be able to transport the RSW-15 to Denver for you. No UPS damage . . . .
  18. I used the DSP in the Crown XTi-1000 for crossover, EQ, and delay .
  19. Hi Dan, Glad you're home!! Do you get to stay home now? My nephew's up for tour #4.
  20. ABSOLUTELY!! KPT Cinema are the real tools. Everything else are just toys. OK, just kidding . . . .[] I agree with the others. Buy 402 or 510 horns with K-69 or DE75 drivers and mount them on top of the LaScalas and Belles. I had a JubScala (402/K-69 on LaScala bass bin) for my center channel between Jubilees. The JubScala will give you the same tonal characteristics of the Jub, but just won't go quite as deep. It will be an easy transition to Jubilee bass cabs when you're ready.
