  1. Anyone here like to comment on their experience with a Growler? ........got me interested. [:^)]
  2. mbajner.........What dealer in Chicago? Have you talked to Simply Stereo? (Hoffman Estates).........good guys over there. [Y]
  3. Thebes.......What are you using as a preamp with your 8b?
  4. Yeah.....KLF-30's and a 500 watt pro amp will give you what you want. A pro amp powering a good sub will give you more of what you want. [Y] I'm in the same boat with RF-7's. I know someone with KLF-30's......similar amps and subs........awesome for metal/punk/hard rock. It's not the most refined sound......but it lends itself to the music we like.......It's like ultra clean distortion, loud and impressive. Not really what you want if your into jazz or classical music.
  5. MTV is still in business? [|-)] I ain't got time for all that [bs].........guess I'm gettin' old. [:^)]

    upgrade...?!

RF-7's are a dramatic improvement over the RF-35's........and the more power you give them, the better they perform. [Y] I don't have any experience with those receivers.......but "upgrade-i-tis" can get the best of you. Speaker placement, room acoustics are key........and should be dealt with before dishing out your hard earned money on costly gear. Good Luck. []
  7. The good thing about Bose is that while listening......no matter what I'm doing I just start dancing.....every time.
  8. Have you tried co-locating the subs......either stacking them or sitting them on the floor side by side? Location and placement of the subs will have the biggest influence on how they sound/roll off. IMO.......headroom is where it's at......and when you get your subs dialed in right.....they should disappear, making your speakers sound better in every aspect. Deeper, fuller bass......enhanced mids and highs. [] With a room that's not very big.......you may want to try co-locating the subs......in between the LaScala's or outside. Less chance of bass cancellation but in a smallish room you can still acheive good room coverage and headroom. Congrats on your Lascala ll's and good luck. []
  9. Yer house is gonna ROCK [Y] No experience with DIY subs.....but good luck with your project. Interested to hear how it turns out. ........Gotta have subs........BIG subs[Y][Y]
  10. Do you like the sound of your RF-5's? If so, you'll love RF-7's. [] I'll be interested to hear your comments on the RF-7's compared to the Forte. I had Forte ll's breifly........Heresy's breifly......Chorus's breifly.......all side by side with RF-7's. Amped them with tubes, solid state and pro-amps.......three different preamps......vintage, tube and solid state......and to my ears the RF-7's were much more to my liking for many reasons. Of course it's just my opinion and my taste in music. If you're happy.....and used to the sound of the RF-5's........you'll fall in love with the 7's. They do however, like a lot of power to make them shine. My second vote would be for KLF-30's...........awesome rock and roll speakers. [Y]

    RF 7 value

    Ditto.[]That's why I have three pairs []
  12. That's cool JB.........Same weather here in SE Wicsonsin. [Y] I thought about getting those rock speakers........in the meantime I'm using two 15" Velodyne subs and RB-35's on each side of the patio overlooking the fire pit. I'm diggin' it.
  13. Thanks for the update Josh. [] I've been hearing about this for some time now. I might just have to run up to BB later this afternoon to check this one out.
  14. That can be very true.........Louder music and compromise gets me by. []
  15. Serious subbage just ain't enough, huh?
  16. Are these for movies, music or both?
  17. Does anyone ever really win in that game? Cornhole is an actual game, and that's what we call it here in the midwest, so let's please drop the nuance as to what others might perceive it to be. I know you enjoy your irreverant humor, jacksonbart, but it can sometimes be taken as offensive. Let's get back to the original topic. Thanks! I never knew what that game was called......drinking may have played a roll.....never heard it referred to as "cornhole".Congrats on the "new" Cornholes........I mean Cornwalls []
  18. Congrats on the RF-7's. [Y] For the center......an RC-7 is the perfect match. Look on the Garage Sale here, you can find a used one for about $300-$500. RB-10's for surrounds.......shouldn't be a problem.......any of the Reference speakers for surrounds would probably do. RS-7's or RB-75's would be a perfect match but with a much higher price tag.

    RF 7 value

$1000 in very good condition is a good deal........and you'll love them for two-channel as well. []
  20. I own three pairs of RF-7's......and I love them. I've heard the Corn's on a number of occasions and find it kind of odd that the 7's sound "more mellow and laid back than the Corn's". What were you powering both speakers with? Same or different room?
  21. Curious to hear your comments going from the RF-7 system to the Palladium system. []
