  1. I use Titebond II with good results. Jeremy
  2. Has anyone built a DIY record cleaning machine? I'm a DIY'er and have given it some thought. A vacuum wand and tower can be purchased from VPI. I have and old Dirt Devil hand vac, that could supply its motor. I've got a beater turntable/radio/cassette player from my youth, which could supply the platter, bearing, etc. I need to find a high torque/ low rpm motor. I can build a box to put it all in. I'm a tool & die maker by trade, and a hobbiest wood worker, so I believe I could pull this off. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this. My record collection is not big enough yet, to justify $400-$500 for a record cleaning machine. That money could be used to upgrade some other equipment. I don't mind cleaning them by hand now, in order to save money to spend on a better front end. So if anyone has done this please give your thoughts, i'm sure i'm not the 1st to think of this. Sorry to high jack the thread. Jeremy
  3. If you edit your post, you need to reattach your pic. It's gone after editing. Jeremy
  4. They are cheaply built, but I got them for free, so if I can get them working for $20-30 they may work fine for playing music in my garage, or shed, or giving them away, or selling them. I'm not planning a 2-channel setup around them or anything. I have Cornwalls, RF-7's, JBL c-38's, plenty of decent stuff. I just want to get them going cheap with damaging anything. I guess I can wire up some 10", 8 ohm drivers i've got, to see what the final load will be. I just thought maybe some one might have advice other than throw them away. I registered at Audiokarma, but no one has responded there yet. Jeremy
  5. How much for the k-601's? They are composite right? I have some extra k-600's but I wouldn't mind trying the 601's. Please let me know. Thanx Jeremy
  6. I know it's not Klipsch related, but I need help. I recently aquired a bunch of equipment and have been sorting through everything. I have a pair of Sansui s-57 speakers that are missing the woofers. They are a 3-way that have a cool tweeter deflecter, ala JBL. What I need to know is what the impeadence of the original 12" woofers were, so I can find a suitable replacement. Is there a way to test the crossover to see what would give me an acceptable load, or is it going to really matter. Should I just go middle of the road with an 8 ohm driver and not worry about it. I'm sure they probably are not going to sound that good anyway, but if I can get them going on the cheap, i'm sure I can find a use for them. I have not been able to find any useful info on the internet so far, so I thought I would turn to the forum that I trust. Any help is appreciated. Jeremy
  7. Holy crap! I picked up a pair of the c-38's last weekend for free! Mine are quite a bit rougher, but have all the same drivers in them. Maybe I should try to sell them on ePay. I was planning on keeping them, but I really want a Blueberry Extreme. I can't wait to see how this auction ends. Jeremy
  8. I might be interested in the K-33's. Are they the new style like BEC sells? Jeremy
  9. I did the local pawn shop circut yesterday afternoon. I was mostly looking for electronics or speakers, but I always ask about vinyl as well. One place said they had about 8000 albums, but thay are not currently accessable. [] I said I would love to go through them, and his response was "I think we're gonna eBay 'em" Oh well. I hit the Salvation Army after that and found Simon & Garfunkel "Sound of Silence", and a Herb Alpert album for $1 each. Half the fun is in the looking [] Jeremy
  10. Here is another on I've got nothing invested in. It's a Pioneer SX-650. Jeremy
  11. I'm still saving my pennies for a BBX, maybe by winter time. Congrats on the "Big time" Mark [] P.S. Is there still a possibility of a remote control in the works? I remember this discussion a while back when meagain used to post alot. Jeremy
  12. Cool link. It would be even cooler if I could read it. Jeremy
  13. Anyone have any good methods of cleaning and shining up the silver faces on this vintage stuff? I was thinking of using a wadding cloth like Never-Dull, and just staying away for the silk-screening and glass. I'm afraid to get alcohol and Q-tips close to the lettering, for fear of ruining it. So just curious what you all have done to spiff up your vintage stuff. Jeremy
  14. Here is a pic of the Pioneer TX-7800 and SA-7800 that I scored free this past weekend. They need a little work, but the price was right! Jeremy
  15. I noticed a blue box in the middle of the ceiling in your gallery, during my visit. Is that what this is for? Do you do video stuff when you photograph weddings and what not? I have a friend interviewing photogs for his wedding. He told me alot of them do video compilations of photographs and such. Not trying to be nosey, just interested. Jeremy
  16. My aunt manages a huge storage facility, and she ends up with alot of delinquent units. She always saves speakers and stereo equipment for me. This past weekend I went to visit her and came home with alot of stuff. I have not sorted through it all yet, but this thread made me want to mention 3 Pioneer silver face / woodgrain units I got for free. The most promising looking set up is a Pioneer SA-7800 integrated amp, and aTX-7800 tuner. I also got a SX-650 receiver. They are heavy-duty and look pretty cool. I have not had time to hook anything up yet, maybe tonight. It may all be junk, and that's why it was put in storage. Maybe I can post some pics tomarrow. I will probably start a thread showing all the free stuff I scored. There were lots of cheap black box receivers, cd players, and cassette decks. The coolest score was a pair of JBL c38 speakers. Jeremy
  17. Go read the "Oops I did it again" thread in 2-channel before it gets deleted. Welcome back, i've always enjoyed your insight. Jeremy
  18. V for Vendetta I just watched this for the 1st time, last night. Wow! what a movie. Jeremy
  19. 9/11 is my wife's birthday. It was always a great day for us, until 2001. Whenever she is asked for her date of birth, people always respond with "oh, i'm sorry". Coincedentally her sister's b-day is 12/7 (Pearl Harbor day). We always joke that everyone should stay home on her brother's birthday which is 3/22, because something bad may happen. Jeremy
  20. If I ever win the Lotto..........i'm in [] Jeremy
  21. Oak, count me out, but thanx for offering them here. Jeremy
