  1. Yes I need the black variety. I was so enamored after seeing Gary's cornwalls that I decided to strip mine down and redo them. There was so much laquer on there it was unreal. Underneath the veneer is beautiful with just a few small blemishes on the bottom corners which are no larger than Lincoln's head on a penny. Mine are the Laquered oak variety. Hopefully I'll be ready to stain them by the end of the week. I'm not gonna rush this. I've selected Golden Pecan Minwax for the stain. Mark
  2. Hey all, I just got off the phone with Ralph at Duracrest and they won't have any fabric for a few weeks. Furthermore, they have a five yard minimum. All I need is a yard or two. I'm completely redoing my cornwalls. Anyways, does anyone have a yard or two they'd want to part with? Or would anyone like to split an order? Any help would be appreciated. Thanx for looking. Mark
  3. Winners never quit and quitters never win! Cough, hack, gag! Good luck to you all. Maybe I should join the Memorial Day tribe. Mark
  4. Nice Gary. The chimney is for the fireplace in your den? Mark
  5. Good luck on a nice deal! I got out of this one cheap. Mark
  6. To bad it's just the wood though. No components.
  7. Definitely two thumbs up! []
  8. Cmon who cares what they look like. They sound nice. I'll have a pair someday, no doubt.
  9. Hey all, I hooked up the TT Saturday. I had some problems with ground loops. After I figured that out all was well. I listened to a whole mess of lp's for about nine hours. I was grinning like the village idiot! Vinyl does in fact some much more dynamic than cd's . As far as Gary's systems go all I can say is they're top notch. Any one who says tubes lack bass doesn't know what they're talking about. Gary played an Elton John SACD on his Scott 299B and I commented to Gary that he was cheating and had the subwoofer on. That's how nice the bass was on his Cornwalls.
  10. Yeah, I'd say so. The thing is I didn't make one wrong turn or get lost once. I have a slight fear of highly populated areas with loads of traffic. Everyone's flying by and they know where they're going and you don't have a clue. I'm lousy with directions.
  11. I drove down to Baltimore today and picked up my Music Hall MMF-5 from Gary. We got to listen to both of his systems. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. I'll write more sometime tomorrow right now I'm exhausted after driving 727 miles. Thanx again Gary and Katherine for inviting me into your home. Goodnite all, Mark
  12. No Coytee it's not SET. I get to see Garymd's VRD's this weekend oh yeah. Mark
  13. Bob, My intention was to keep the values the same. I'm glad I participated in this discussion otherwise I would've never discovered my error. Thanx alot, Mark
  14. Bob, I used 68uf . It's been along time since I went to school. I thought putting them in series would keep the value the same. Alright I guess I need to fix that. So what would 34uf do to the performance of the woofer? Thanx for your help again.
  15. That Hitatchi looks like a nice deal.
  16. What caps are you gonna replace the 47uf ones with? My kp301's had a 68uf cap so I used two of the parts express non-polarized electrolytic type there in series. Also was that ok to use those ? They sound ok to me. Mark
  17. I just can't believe you've never heard all of your nice klipsch's without tubes. They go together like rats and cheese wiz.
  18. Rockbobmel is a forum member who plays bass in a coupla of bands. Haven't read any posts from him in awhile. http://mysite.verizon.net/vzepjij3/index.html there's a link to his website. Another cool forum member. Mark
  19. Couldn't you just use a hose clamp and say an inch or so of some radiator hose and tighten that around the horn somewhere to nullify the unwanted resonances to experiment rather than permanately altering the horn? Wouldn't that help? I'm thinking of it like a tuning fork. When it's vibrating and ringing you just grab it and there ya go. But in that theory mounting it to plywood should take care of that. But I don't know maybe it would help. Mark
  20. Both of those sets are beautiful and your prices are quite reasonable too. I wish I could buy all of the nice stuff that's been offered here lately. Tuned is gonna be selling some stuff soon. Jeepers! Thanx for sharing though. Mark
  21. Just when you thought you were all done. Congrats they're nice. Mark
