  1. More than likely the problem is in the setup of the receiver. Make sure you have the subwoofer selected 'On' in your receiver's menu. Also make sure that you have the speakers set correctly, something like Large+Sub or Small+Sub. I'm not too terribly familiar with modern receivers but there are many, many options that can be turned on or off that will affect the subwoofer signal.
  2. Are those Cerwin-Vega woofers?? Also, he's selling an envelope from Sony dated 1972. If things like that are collectible I'm going to raid my parent's house and make a mint!
  3. Spill the beans on the $$ you paid! I have my friend's KLF-30s and my Forte IIs and I prefer the Forte II sound. They've been the best all-around Klipsch speaker I've ever owned, including RF-25s and RF-7s.
  4. KV series probably isn't going to match well with the Reference series. Can you get by without a center channel for now? Otherwise something smaller in the Reference series such as the RC25, RC10, etc will be a closer match than the KV.
  5. Contact forum member DeanG for crossover modifications. http://www.klipsch.com/products/discontinued/details/rf-7.aspx Click the above link and look on the right-hand side of that page for links that take you to different manuals for the RF-7.
  6. So what of hers is she giving up that you don't need that much of??? [^o)]
  7. Pretty crazy tragedy. I was at work helping a customer and her cell phone rang. It was her sister telling her that the bridge collapsed. I've watched the videos and looked at the pics. I couldn't imagine having that happen while driving. I just hope I would have the good sense to keep myself alive and help anyone else out that I could.
  8. I can't answer your question, but isn't having too many Klipsch speakers than you know what to do with one of life's greatest problems to solve? []
  9. The Klipsch Sub-12 has been said to be an incredible sub for the money.
  10. Several things will affect the sound quality: position in the room of the speakers, seating position relative to the location of the speakers, room size, etc, etc. Some people have tried to 'loosen up' their new RF-7s by playing some music pretty loudly on a loop all day long while they were away. Go ahead and try that. It certainly won't hurt anything and it might help them a bit. Something with a full spectrum of bass-midrange-treble.
  11. If you want to try a different cable, I have a 3 foot long DVI to HDMI cable that I bought but never used it because I didn't realize my cable box didn't support the DVI output that it had on it until after I bought it. [] Free to you, just pay for actual shipping cost.
  12. Very clean setup you have there. Looks just like my OO Forte IIs. Great 'little' speakers, aren't they?
  13. Does it have a fuse that can be replaced?
  14. Who knows, but isn't it nice to know that your Klipsch speakers are holding their value so well? []
  15. One nice thing I've found about Fortes is that they don't need a really high-end amp to make them sound really good. I used a few different amps/receivers with my old RF-7s and couldn't afford to keep trying to find the holy grail for them. If you look at my signature you'll see that I'm running a Sonic Impact T-amp with my Fortes. I have my oppo DVD player going directly into it, no pre-amp at this time. I don't know exactly what dB number I'm hitting at times, but I can tell you that it is very loud and very clear. Having all the bass from 80Hz and down be handled by my SVS sub definitely helps the little amp have more juice for the rest of the frequency range however. I think you'll do fine with whichever one you choose, both are good brands. Pick the one that has the features you want most.
  16. Call said relative. Tell them they owe you a new speaker.
  17. Nope, probably 3485 (New model) http://www.harmankardon.com/product_detail.aspx?Region=USA&Country=US&Language=ENG&cat=REC∏=HK%203485&sType=C
  18. What Doug said. You're using an upconverting player which will never be anywhere near the picture quality of actual HDTV. But, in doing what it does (upconvert) the oppo player is one of the best. One thing you might also want to check is that if you have made certain picture/brightness/tint/etc settings with your previous player, you might have to re-adjust those since you're using a different input (HDMI) on your TV/receiver.
  19. I didn't realize they made a ceiling mount kit for your center channel! []
  20. 80Hz is usually recommended as a good starting point, then you can make small adjustments from there.
  21. I don't think any plan involving putting them off the floor is going to be recommended. The tweeters will probably be firing too far above your head while seated.
  22. You mean RC-7, right?
  23. That would be the speaker's crossover that you're seeing. Call Klipsch tech support - they're awesome!
