  1. One more question/observation...60" Grand Wega TV and a $100 DVD player?? Did you blow your budget on the TV? []
  2. There is a way to manually change the output from 480i to 480p. It should be in the Samsung's owner's manual. Does your TV have an HDMI input? If so, why not just buy the cord? That's the only way you're going to get 720p, 1080i, or 1080p. I don't know of any DVD players that will go any higher than 480p through component video.
  3. I'm in the two channel guy group and I recently disconnected my sub to see how my RF-7s sounded without it. Yeah, that lasted about 5 seconds. Sub on!
  4. A topic about losing one's virginity containing phrases such as: "I will refrain as hard as it is." "You have a point there" "Lights out, feet up" "Man was that a blast" Sounds like the 4 stages of sex if you ask me!
  5. Apparently the woofers are very fragile and the surface can bend/crease very easily. My RF-7s have a very small crease from the original owner.
  6. Definitely my RF-7s. No other speaker will ever de-throne these. Interestingly, I'm also not wanting to part with my Bose 401 floorstanders. They were the first 'nice' speakers I ever bought. They now are connected to my wife's Aiwa boombox stereo in our upstairs living room. They put out some pretty decent bass for what they were/are. I think that these are probably some of Bose's last decent speakers until the cubes took over. []
  7. What does that equal in US dollars? There are 3 new-in-box RF-35 pairs on eBay right now anywhere from $736 - $800 including shipping. I'd say knock an easy 25% off for being floor models. They could have had them set up since they came out in 2003!
  8. I haven't heard them, but from the looks of things it seems like they'd be pretty transparent!
  9. Yes, on my sub it actually works with the RCA inputs/outputs only, not the speaker level connections!
  10. Brooks & Dunn - Hard Workin' Man - Country. I've been going through my old CDs finding which ones have the most natural sounding voices and instruments and this CD definitely is one of the best that I have! Absolutely no sibilance in the voices, very detailed instruments such as the steel guitar and mandolin. The Boot Scootin' Boogie remix as the last track definitely will keep your toes tappin and woofers whappin!
  11. Just curious, because the actual speaker part of my RF-7s only measures about 9".
  12. It won't work. These people are using stolen eBay identities and credit cards. All you're doing is hurting the people's identities that have been stolen.
  13. After examining my room and looking at the packages for sale on eBay, I've concluded that I don't need nearly as much foam as the sellers have in each auction. That being the case, does anyone have any unused foam that they'd be willing to sell? Send me an email - wuzzzer2001@yahoo.com Thanks! BTW, looking for 2" wedge shaped preferably, charcoal color.
  14. He's also in Fargo and Minority Report.
  15. So it looks like the biggest difference is more inputs/outlets on the 2000.
  16. Well, you could just look it up for yourself, but I'll save you the trouble. 17. Three videos...all excellent! http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/02/22/vw-strikes-again-un-pimp-my-ride-videos/#more-1817
  18. Could be the CD or something electrically on the same circuit that turned off/on.
  19. See my signature for what gear I have. I think I fit your demographic pretty well. [] On my sub it has both a high and a low pass filter. The high pass filter is an either/or 50hz or 100hz. The low pass filter is adjustable from 50hz to 100hz. Generally I have the high pass filter at 100hz and the low pass filter anywhere from 60-75hz. I know on paper this may be a big gap but my sub doesn't seem to have to have too steep of a crossover and blends very very well with the RF-7s. BTW, I'm using the sub and receiver's pre-ins and -outs via RCA cables.
  20. Some of this may have already been covered, but I'll let you know what I experienced with my RF-7s. What source are you listening to that causes that harshest sibilance(overemphasized S and Z sounds)? Is it equal with all sources or is it mainly when listening to a CD? I've found that about 75% of my CDs sound very poor at loud levels with RF-7s. However, almost all DVDs, FM radio and TV broadcast sound awesome. Please don't waste money on expensive speaker cables! I can guarantee that you won't experience any benefit from using them. Speaker placement is huge with RF-7s. Are they very close to a side wall? How tall is the ceiling in the room they're in? Do you have them toed in so they're facing directly at you in your main listening position? Experiment with them...you'll like the results.
  21. You can definitely hook up everything as you stated, LFE + pre-in + speaker wire and you'll be fine.
  22. I had been using my cheap (free to me) Magnavox DVD player for CDs since my older Sony 200 disc changer skipped terribly and the Magnavox was noticeably smoother especially in the treble. I bought a Denon single CD player that's from about '94 just a month ago. I'd say that the sound is very comparable to the Magnavox (very good) but the advantage is that I have a volume control on my Denon. Nice feature since my HK 730 was pre-remote.
  23. DeOxit is the cleaner you'll want to use. Available at Radio Shack.
  24. Well, I did have my RF-25s set up like that for a few days when I first got them. The wife is going to be out of town for a week soon...maybe I'll have to do a little experimenting while she's gone! [6] It would be nice to be able to spread them apart wide and not having nearly any side wall early reflections to deal with.
