One Monday morning a mailman is walking the neighborhood on his usual route. As he approaches one of the homes he noticed that both cars were in the driveway. His walk was cut short by Bob, the homeowner, coming out with a load of empty beer and liquor bottles. "Wow Bob, looks like you guys had one hell of a party last night." the mailman comments. Bob, in obvious pain replies, "Actually we had it Saturday night. This is the first I have felt like moving since 4:00 Sunday morning. We had about fifteen couples from around the neighborhood over for Christmas Cheer and it got a bit wild. Hell, we got so drunk around midnight that we played who am I." The mailman thinks a moment and says, "How do you play that?" "Well, all the guys go in the bedroom and we come out one at a time with a sheet covering us and only our privates showing through a hole in the sheet. Then the women try to guess who it is." The mailman laughs and says, "Damn, I'm sorry I missed that." "Probably a good thing you did," Bob responds. "Your name came up four or five times."

I agree on your comments. The performances are just different enough from Hell Freezes Over to make it a worthwhile disc to get. The horn solo at the beginning of Hotel California - turn it up! Something about listening to horns on horns, you know! My favorite track is Walk Away, second song from the end of disc one. Joe Walsh is an unbelievable guitarist and performer. I hope to see them if/when there is a Farewell II tour. I haven't seen them perform live yet. YET!

I have an opportunity to pick up a pair of RF-3 II speakers for the same price that I bought my RF-25s for. I don't think I'd have any problems selling my RF-25s for at least what I paid for them. My question is, is it worth the hassle? I'd be able to drive and get the RF-3 IIs so there wouldn't be any shipping charges I'd have to pay. The specs seem pretty similar - 97db/1 watt versus 98db/1 watt. Do the 8" woofers make a noticeable impact on the sound? Thanks!

My wife and I and some of our friends saw Star Wars Episode II a couple years ago on an iMax screen. INCREDIBLE! We sat in the farthest row from the screen and in my opinion it was the best seat in the house. The screen was so unbelievably big that you couldn't see the whole screen in your field of vision if you sat any closer. Killer sound system too, I remember them saying it is somewhere between 12,000 and 15,000 watts. The weird thing was they cut out about 15 minutes of the movie. I'm not sure why, but about halfway through the movie I realized that certain scenes were shortened up quite a bit from the original theatrical release.

Could be many different things. I couldn't tell by your post...are you able to toggle between 480i, 720p, 1080i, etc on your DVR? My TV does the same thing if I try to select 720p since it doesn't support that resolution. Displays 1080i perfectly. Also, is there anything regarding your inputs that you have to adjust on your TV menu so that it knows its receiving a HDTV signal?

Best thing to do as far as phase adjustment is to adjust it until the bass is loudest and smoothest at your listening position. Gain or level adjustment is going to vary from person to person. It helps if you can have someone else adjust it while you sit where you normally listen. Just don't be afraid to experiment.

Pink Floyd "Echoes" greatest hits 2-CD set. Won off eBay last week. Finally had a chance to listen to Wish You Were Here at what I'd consider to be reference levels. The dynamics of that song are amazing! Starts off quietly and then when the song really gets going the vocals and guitar are incredible. I have heard this song so many times before. Never heard it as good as I have now. There are many other great songs, Learning to Fly, Money, Comfortably Numb, and many others I had never heard that coincide with Pink Floyd's abnormal side. All the songs must have been remastered, and/or I'm finally listening to them the way they should always have been...on an awesome amp with awesome speakers.

Does your TV have something like a 'black enhancement' feature? If so, trying turning it on/off. Also, I've noticed that different HD programs seem to have been recorded better, if that makes sense. For instance, PBS HD seems to have some shows that look awesome, and some are really grainy and not very clear. Newer HD movies on HBO look awesome, older movies look so-so. It may also help to use a setup DVD (if you haven't already) such as the THX setup that's included on many DVDs. It will adjust the picture/contrast/sharpness/etc to the correct levels and may lessen the problems you're having.

Lex, if you check out www.klipsch.com and look at the specifications of the speakers you have, you'll notice that the peak power that your speakers can handle is actually 2-3 times the rating listed on the back of the speakers. With the efficiency of Klipsch speakers, you don't need an amp with a million watts, you just need an amp that's built very well and puts out quality watts. Your best bet, as was mentioned, is to upgrade to a higher end receiver. You have very capable speakers! :EDIT: As an example, I have an old Harman / Kardon amp that is rated at 40 watts per channel. I have RF-25 speakers. At the 11 o'clock position on the volume knob, these speakers are LOUD! And sound great at the same time! This amp replaced my supposed 100 watt/channel Sony. I'd say the Harman/Kardon plays at least as loud as the Sony, and sounds a million times better at the same time.

Only on the some older RF series and on the current RF-5 and RF-7. My RF-25s are definitely 'innies!'

What I've heard is that component looks best on rear projection TVs, and HDMI is best for LCD/DLP/Plasma TVs.

I have the CD that contains all those recordings and narration. Its called "The Ultimate Demonstration Disc" and its also called "Chesky Records' Guide to Critical Listening." It was made in 1995. If I remember correctly, they had an ad in Stereo Review magazine that I ordered it from. I can't say that I've given the disc a good listen since I got my RF-25s or HK730, though.

You aren't kidding. Just got done listening to some of the songs. Unfortunately at lower volumes than I'd like since my wife was home. "Turn it down!" seems to be uttered pretty frequently at my house. Wish You Were Here - wow - incredible guitar! I can't wait to crank it up and really listen!
