  1. Having the oiled oak type "B"'s so close has me really thinking, so I need a little advice. Would the '89's with the AK-3 X-over( e-bay item # 5759998443) be a significant sonic improvement over my '69 "C"'s with a A X-over. I do like the look of the oak as well as the cabinet style of the '89's but am more interested in the function rather than the fashion. The Oak would also match my Cornwalls, Fortes, and CF1's, so you can see I am rather partial to oak.
  2. St. Pete native. I do want to see those horns but am afraid my credit card would take a beating.
  3. I bought my Parasound 2205 home theater amp from them. One guy in the shop seems a little gruff, but he did excellent work on a pair of Polk speakers I had. This is the 2nd time they have been listed. I would love to have a set of the "B" style though I have really grown fond of my "C"'s.
  4. Time has a way of lowering prices !
  5. I've read on one of the audio websites that of all the Epic's to own, the CF4's series 1 are the choice. They said that Klipsch's main engineer chose those over any other Klipsch speaker. I don't know if it's true but it sure is interesting.
  6. I have a Scott 299C rebuilt by Craig 2 years ago that I'll throw into the mix. Everyting works.
  7. "I'm a Dork Fish!" had my son wanting to close the front door so the neighbors didn't hear me laughing. Just too funny.
  8. Corners are a must. They need to fit snuggly in there to take advantage of the bass. Your wall actually becomes part of the speaker. If they can't fit into the corner there's always creating a false corner, but do a search on that. $1.5K sounds like a good deal. Good luck and keep us updated.
  9. I know this thread is a blast from the past, but I have a question regarding the sites to buy these DVD's. Both sites mentioned in the reply's above do not exists anymore. Does anyone have a suggestion to look to purchase DVD's you can't buy here in the States? I'm looking for a movie called "Cold Blooded" that stars Jason Preistly which appears to only be available here in US on VHS. I have looked a lot of places on the web but it starts to get a little hairy when you type "cold blooded japanese bootleg dvd" into Google search.
  10. Contacted the seller. These are Cornwall II's from 1988.
  11. One thing Klipsch advertised about the KLF30's was that they were the best RR speakers built. I don't know if they were quoting someone, but I have seen them advertised that way.
  12. There is another B3 player that I feel is noteworthy. I've heard cuts from Joe Krown's blues album (2000 release)on the local college radio station. He has also played on the last 5 Clarence Gatemouth Brown albums. Really like the sound this guy has.
  13. Champagne is right. It is the creative and logical sides of the brain.
  14. Here's the link for the website though I know you were looking for original. http://webhome.idirect.com/~marcolook/
  15. Do a search for the last 3 years. I seem to remember a guy that made wood cases for the Scott's. From what I remember, they were actually pretty nice looking.
  16. I too, have this DVD. I think I like it better than the Metropolis 2000 released a couple of years ago. The whole band are amazing musicians. Petrucci gets a lot of the attention but Jordan Rudess on keyboards should get kudos too. Rudess has a recently released cd that kicks some serious butt.
  17. Chorus are still highly regarded and sought after speakers. Market price is $600+ depending on condition. Current replacement is the RF7. Both are fine sounding speakers but I prefer the sound of the Chorus\Cornwalls over the newer RF line. Something about those big boxes that gets peoples attention.
  18. Actually, $400 is right on target for a nice pair. E-bay prices have been over-inflated, IMO, for the last year or more and the inflated prices have crept over to other sales forums. heresy2guy is right on the money for offering less. It will cost you money to fix the passive radiator as well as refinish the speakers. But once fixed up, dollar for dollar, the Forte's are hard to beat.
  19. I have a M504(165wpc vs 200wpc of the 508)& P308 running my KHorns. $800 is a good price for the combo, but not a deal like you got on the Las. There is a 508 on Audiogon right now for $675. I would guess you can get the 308 for a little over $200, so if the pair is in good condition, I would get them. The 508 is a 2 channel amp and although there are connections for 2 sets of speakers, will sound best powering 1 set of speakers at a time.
  20. Does anyone know of this receiver? There is a used one locally for sale, though I think they are asking to much for it. It is a stunning piece of equipment. Of course it would have to sound pretty darn sweet to beat out my Parasound 2205AT\B&K Ref 30 combo. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  21. I have had 2 Yamaha receivers w/ my Klipsch, and I wouldn't describe either as being bright. Back in the day, 8 years ago, it was my Yamaha RX-V890. Then an upgrade to the RX-V2095. Both sounded great with a plethora of Klipsch products. Then I got on the "separates" kick and the Yamaha was relegated to the bedroom system.

My daughter wanted to know why I rented a "chick flick"!
  23. I'm done now but did 10 years Navy, though I never saw a ship. Good thing too because I get seasick.
  24. I remember refinishing my LaScala's, getting them set-up and thinking I'll never let these leave my house. Then I refinished the Khorns and set them up. The Las are some nice clean speakers, but the Khorns take it to a new level. I sold the Las to a friend and still visit occasionally. I have good memories of the Las but don't mind the trade-off.
  25. Bring your shorts. It's been in the high 70's to lower 80's for the last 2 weeks down here, or at least in St. Pete.
