  1. If not Duco, then 3M77, but on both objects and allow to sit for 2-3 minutes, then stick together.
  2. I still like Fritz's teddy set-up...... [6] Although I would not have appreciated it until I was about 15...... [H]
  3. "Deadfall" oak for me. I just let it sit for about a year (under a tarp during the monosson season) and drop the moisture level down. Cost, of course, is free..... Just have to ask the rancher if I can drive out to the oak "hummocks" and grab the deadfall.
  4. I'd stick with Dean's recommendations as a base line for selection of an air core, if in fact it will make a difference at all. the greatest single improvement to an otherwise quality system will always be to look at the room. Biggest bang for the buck, IMHO
  5. Well said Eric, well said. It's in the application, I always say.
  6. I think A-vox carefully considered the implications of not doing right with Klipsch. Hopefully the folks in charge will continue to do so.
  7. Appropriate memories with Mary Hopkins in mind: . Those were the days my friend We thought they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day We'd live the life we choose We'd fight and never lose For we were young and sure to have our way.
  8. Fat Freddy.........., those were the days; Mr. Natural, et.al. LOL!!! . Those were the days my friend We thought they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day We'd live the life we choose We'd fight and never lose For we were young and sure to have our way.
  9. Take a look at the Onkyo's. Onkyo USA site has some good quality, reasonably priced receivers that will work very well. I have a couple of them in the living room, and the bedrooms (Heresy's, Cornwalls, K'horns, and Belles) Never had a problem and I've had them for about 3-4 years now (TX-SR605, 705, and a 8555 stereo amp)
  10. Did you check with Bob? He may have already done something.
  11. Been a fan of LeCarre's (David Cornwell) writings since I was a teenager. Tightly written, and a command of the language that evokes powerful images as your read. Now.... the BBC series with Sir Alex Guiness (RIP) is a hard act to follow. Regardless of the critic's fawnings over the latest tribute to what many call the "ultimate" spy novel, I would strongly suggest that before watching the flic, READ the book. Or at the least find the DVD set from BBC's series as it is quite accurate, if but detailed. Here's the rub, however. It took almost 9 hours of BBC recording in the series to basically capture what LeCarre wrote. Now we have a "modern" movie that, at least in theory, is supposed to be a "definitive" interpretation. That folks, will be difficult. Notwithstanding the actors' abilities to do justice to the characters, etc. There's going to be a shallowness, almost 2-dimensional panorama (to the film's detriment, of course) of the tale to be told. Unfortunately, reading a book is fast becoming a lost art in todays world which demands "thumbnails", and nothing longer than 180 minutes of celluloid distraction from our busy, multi-tasked and drone like lives. Read the book, watch the BBC version, then see the movie..... It's worth the extra effort to see what a good story should be; hopefully the directors will get it right. [H]
  12. I was readinhgd thuus post and lstning and hvkfn loah............ Whoa!! Just woke up and what a power nap!! Thanks guys for the links!!! []
  13. Westom, you wrote a very good post about a year or so ago that talked about power as it comes off the main line into the house. Can you dig that up and discuss the "whole house" protection practices? That would be interesting for many folks who have to deal with dirty or unreliable power before it arrives at any surge protector, etc. [H]
  14. Hey!!!! How did you get the picture of my personal secretary!!! Or better put, how did you get her to pose with that cake!!!? She never did that for me!!! I got the hats and ribbons, but never the cake!!! [6]
  15. Groom Lake = the actual name of the dry salt lake area on the old Nevada maps where the test site is located. Area 51; well that's what it's called now, even though it does not exist...... My office complex sat on the edge of Lake Okeechobee, and was referred to by the powers that be.... as Area 51. Strange commin's and goins', etc. Ultra secure facility, separate from the main office and guarded at night, etc., because I had serious guns, ammo, fast boats, Zodiac assault boats and motors, nice "Spec-ops" types toys, and constant DOD visitors related to certain projects I worked on... Before any of the "hoi-polloi" could come down, they had to call me. Only exception was the Sheriff, Undersheriff,or DOD folks. My office inside the compound was a dream.... Heresy's and a Sansui AU-11000 tube amp; private bathroom and shower, all the niceties of home. Full service kitchen and laundry room. I dispatched my minions out at 0600 hours, and then supervised by FM radio and satcom communications systems. My email address still reflects that old name, and the other non-public email address still shows up as "Special Projects" as the "alias". Was fun, but when I turned 60 and after 42 years of running around on the water, under the water, in the woods and mountains, etc., I retired and now enjoy my personal collection of serious personal defense toys, strange top sekret assault boat and motor, nifty keen surveillance items perfect for home defense.... and my Klipsch stuff. I still arise at 0:dark-30 hours for PT followed by a close patrol perimeter tour of the homestead, and late at night when all is quiet and I can examine the stars while listening to Boney-M's Nightflite to Venus over the K'horns, await the arrival of the motherships.... [:|][] Ok, so I'm not right..... but at least I will always give warning shots and flares....... [H]
  16. Two things..... First on the back, make sure the crossover point is at about 80Hz or greater, or your source material may not trigger the plate amp. Second, put on something that is bass heavy (and you know that it's bass heavy), and then see if it triggers it. Also make sure the "gain" (top knob) is at the 1:00 PM position (at least to start with...)
  17. Are you sure....... Two things..... First onthe back, make sure the crossover point is at about 80Hz or greater, or your source material may not trigger the plate amp.Second, put on something that is bass heavy (and you know that it's bass heavy), and then see if it triggers it.
  18. G'day Rod!; how's it going down under! No, I actually was not kidding (LOL!!!!!). There's some interesting comments about the 901's, and my suggestion was well intended. Particularly for someone who might get weak and buy a pair...... LOL!!! Lord Knows I have done so on ocassion!!! [H]
  19. True. I was thinking about mechanical distortion measurements only by use of an optical interferometer method.
  20. Just for everyone who has broken a K-701 plastic horn..... The "new horn"forthe H-III is the same horn, just a different part number (which I can't find right now...)and they are about $15 each....
  21. Let's play CSI..... The dude's an out of work DJ, for sure..... He needs a computer to work out his plans on a bank, and a get-away car...... [6]
  22. Good point from StephenM. I have fooled around with the H-III kit in the H-II's (for several years, being one of the first to obtain the kits. I can get there with all of the other modifications to H-I's, and in some cases get better in the "voicing", but that's only for my ears and my applications in which I use the bazillion Heresy's I own. The only possible thing that may help that crossover (until we have all had 10 years to screw around with it....), is Speakerfritz's idea. The cabinet flex on a Heresy is, well, both inconsequential, and not really worthwhile to attempt to address in a cost effective manner (short of constructing a double thick cabinet). Even then, it's cost vs benefit. Moray's work is impressive and certainly shows a dedication to the "H-Box", but from a practical application standpoint for the majority of H users, neither practical or readily "doable". I would like to see flex measurements, but the measurement equipment to see the flex of the cabinet walls would be rather expensive, involving mirrors, lasers, a nice lab, etc. Me? I have often thought about making a cabinet out of "concrete board" which has the flexibility of the Hoover Dam, but the weight alone, not to mention how to finish it in some way that allows me to place it in my home where my wife will see it, has pretty much relegated that idea to a "thought experiment" (in tribute to Albert Einstein.....)
  23. [Y][Y][Y] Those crossovers are nicer than my whole house!!! []
  24. Agreed. And I certainly don't think there is anything "cheap" about the Heresy III crossover... I also agree, and strongly suggest that the best route is to fool around with an older (as in less expensive....) pair of H-II's, and install the H-II kits.... Then... start fooling around. [H]
