  1. I would run more KLF-C7's as surrounds. Dump the S6's they are not a match anyway they were designed for the Synergy Premiere series (KSP-400, 300).
  2. Those look bad to the bone, killer components.
  3. Just picked up a KV-3 so my KV-2 is up for sale. Excellent condition, all original, working perfectly. I do not have a proper carton or packing material to ship it with so I can only offer to drop it off at a pack and ship for you. Local pickup is preferred.
  4. $1500 - $1750, Crites crossovers add nothing to the value.
  5. No, use another R-15M the KV-2 won't even come close to matching the timbre.'
  6. I love the HIP's so much I purchased two pair and moved the standard Heresy's to the bedroom system. They can easily keep up with the Heritage big boys that they support in the Living Room HT system.
  7. These units are somewhat effective as well.
  8. The K-401 was mated to the K-55M midrange.
  9. Yes that is an EV T-35/Klipsch K-77 in there. The woofer was made by CTS and has a square magnet like the K-33 from the same era. The cone midrange has excellent vocal output and has a sealed back if I remember correctly. Lots of adjustment on the back.
  10. Louis Erath was a seismologist and had a very thorough understanding of low frequencies. The LWE-I's when mated to an amplifier with a Klip Kit were capable of a flat 20Hz to 20Khz. To find a pair with the custom LWE amplifier that was designed for increased negative feedback is like finding chicken teeth. Louis and Paul Klipsch were friends and he had a small speaker company in Houston I think it caught fire and he eventually sold it off to Acoustron. CM Labs developed the 911 that was also custom designed to run the LWE-I's. His circuit was so secretive that he placed it in a metal can and filled it with epoxy so that it could not be copied. The plant stain on the one looks like it can be removed with a moderate amount of effort. He did use real wood veneers as well and the equivalent woofer to the K-33 with custom parameters. He also was good friends with the creator of Parasound if I remember correctly. Either way imagine better than Cornwall and Klipschorn performance out of speaker just a bit bigger than a Heresy. They connect via Cinch-Jones connectors because of the negative feedback loop to the amplifier. I sold a pair to Gary (I forget his user handle) on this forum years ago and I pointed him to a CM Labs 911 version of the amplifier and was thrilled with it's performance. There is much more to the LWE story and the price is certainly comensurate and I am sure someone could possibly talk him down some. Very worthwhile checking this set out as you will never see another LWE amp that I can assure you. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Acoustron-LWE-LoudSpeakers-and-Amplifier/333497889448?hash=item4da605f2a8:g:ZNUAAOSwHU9eMJmR
  11. Well that is interesting so the other speaker is 2C068 then.
  12. Jim, I thought it had too many digits as well but here it is. Thanks Andy but I knew that part of it.
  13. Just passing this on to any potentially interested parties. I did go look at these and while they are in good condition for their age the bottom foot of each of the tailboard's has been sawn off and the tophat on one of them has a good size notch cut out of the back edge. The cane side grills on each side have been clawed up by a cat at some point but they are still somewhat presentable. One of the front grills shows signs of moisture staining about 3-4" top to bottom on the left hand side. One is missing the clear pie slice badge which you won't find unless you have one or are really lucky. I could not see the tops as he had gear piled on the top so I could not tell if they were damaged or stained. They are 1965 models (2C0670) according to the label that I could see and the previous owner did add the AK-3 ugrade probably in the 90's so they have K-55M's with the K-400, K-77M's and the more modern woofer access door with banana plug inputs. The place where they are is tricky to get in and out of and he has lots of stuff piled around. I was going to make an offer but I don't have access to my woodworking friend any longer that would be able to fix them so I am going to stick to my current set up. I am willing to assist in some capacity if need be. https://vermont.craigslist.org/ele/d/burlington-vintage-klipsch-horns/7069659064.html
  14. They do have the rubber seals that came with the AK-3 upgrade kit but they are just dangling since there is nothing to slide them onto at the bottom. I probably will just pass and stick with my La Scala's. I have had a couple of pairs of Klipschorn's in the past and I don't think I am going to be missing much other than some low end response but that is what my subwoofers are for. 15. I went to go look at a pair of Klipschorn's the one label was K-B-MR, 2C0670 I assume the other was 2C0671 (he is stating 2C0680) but I could not get behind it very well to look. They are 1964's according to the decoder ring that the previous owner updated to AK-3 functionality at some point in their life. Just wondering about the timeline and original location of this pair. Thanks in advance Jim.
  16. John he had so much stuff piled around it I could only see the top portion of it I don't even know what model it was. It looked like a smaller on. Any idea if the sawed off tailboard impacts performance in any way?
  17. It's a Ducati. He has a Denon DP-60L turntable and a Sansui 9090DB that he was using to feed them. A pair of black decorator Heresies as well. Really high asking prices for the gear. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  18. I did mention those are made of unobtanium. I would carefully remove it and use the Jubilee pie slices I have. He is asking $2500 in store and on Craigslist. I might offer $1750 they are in a crowded building with lots of overpriced vintage gear in a place that is tough to get in and out of. The 13" of snow we got in the last two days doesn't help. 19. Yes the previous owner cut the bottom foot or so of the tail boards off. He left the piece they attach to though. Not sure if I'll buy them it depends how much he will haggle down. They are 1964 models that he upgraded at some point to AK-3 functionality with the matching drivers. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  20. I went to look at a pair of Klipschorn's today and noticed the bottom foot or so of the tail boards had been cut off. Most likely to accommodate some baseboard heaters. How much impact do they have on performance? I assume that they are there for a reason. That said are they there for structural integrity or a reflection of the bass wave. Seems to be a pain to replace them since I would need the dimensions of the missing section which I know are tapered and notched having had pairs in the past. One also has a small notch cut out of the top portion of the top hat which is disappointing. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
  21. I have a pair that I might be selling soon in excellent condition, stained dark with solder terminal dual phase plug K-55V's and ALK universal crossover networks. They are 1977 models with the rare striped Klipsch badges. I am looking at a pair of Klipschorn's this weekend. I am in the Burlington, VT area which is still quite a drive for you though.
  22. That would have been the Alpine 7347 if you are talkin mid to late 80's. Nice cassette deck. I ran a Nakamichi TD-700 with the Alpine 3015 Computer Equalizer in that time frame with a pair of Alpine 3502 amplifiers.
  23. I would use Academy's or something from the KG line in the rear rather than anything reference.
  24. There was a guy selling a pair of those on eBay last week with the board and everything to mount them.
