JB, I got to hear the Klipsch rock speakers at the Last Klipsch Fest.............they sounded really good. I agree with other that your shoud take them inside during Your Brutal Winters........... JMHO.

Alot of talk about the Emotiva models. People seem to like them. Don't know about Vincient..............Kilpsch are so efficient that lots of power is generally not needed. Budget/service should be looked at.

I also think you'll be OK. Listen for about a month and see what you think................... However, If you can afford to- get the RC 62. Myself, I think the New Reference line is smoother............but that is Just what I am Hearing.

Also, If your Married or living with someone. 1. Room Size also will determine the speaker or speakers you can get. 2.WAF / FAF 3. As others have stated, finally Budget- Take your time, but buy the Best you can afford. (this will Hopefully stop the upgrade bug)- Good Luck. 4. Room decor- Colors. I had Cataract surgery, so I only have Cheaters for reading small print. I use a cord loop on my glasses that lets them hang on my neck. Problem is, that when I get home and take them off.................they seem to grow legs and move around the house..................(now where did I put those Dang glasses).................[H]

You would be very Pleased with the 83's. Buy the Best you can Afford. As others have stated, the upgrade Bug is an expensive way to go...................

As Youthman pointed out the Front Ported speaker would be your best option. Also you would enjoy the RB35/RC35 combo alot ! But to answer your question, Yes you need a Front Ported speaker.
