  1. AND the BEER!!! Welcome ALEX!! muhawhawhawhahwhawww.... never mind. Hi Amy. [] Cue Coytee re: ear lobes...
  2. Sounds like the same idea... SO, two women living on a farm had a few head of cattle. They decided that they need to get some more cattle so they thought about getting a Bull. Down the road from them another farmer is happening to sell a Bull. One of the women said they will go and talk with the farmer about buying the Bull and if it comes to pass, that she will send confirmation to come pick up the Bull with the truck and trailer. So the farmer decided that he would sell the Bull to them but they would have to pick it up. The farmer told the woman that it costs .99 cents per word to send the confirmation. The woman thought about it for a bit then said she would send the word "Comfortable". The farmer, with a puzzled look on his face, questioned "Comfortable"??? The woman replied, "Yes, see my companion is blonde, she will say the word numberous times, very slowly... Com for ta ble.
  3. http://www.hometheater.com/content/yamaha-rx-v3900-av-receiver-ht-labs-measures As the link above states, with 5 channels, wattage drops to 69 watts to 81 watts depending on how loud you want to listen and the distortion you can put up with. I think you have enough power (again, depending on how loud you listen) to reach near reference levels. (Most can't stand listening that loud) I can't help but think that there is something in the settings that you are missing. Quite possilbly the tones controls are set weird, if there is a built in EQ might have something to do with it, the sub settings wheather they are set to sub only or sub+mains. I don't recommend the Sub + Mains as thats what your subwoofer is for(low bass boom). I have the RF-62's and I would in no way say they are what your looking for if you like the "V" setting in an EQ. I have hooked these up with an external amplifier that was producing 250watts per channel into these and still would not get what you are looking for without blowing them. I have mine setup with a Marantz SR-6004 and am happy with the sound and performance I get. When not listening to movies, I usually like to have the EQ in the mix when listening to music. I have a gentle "w" as far as the EQ goes, even a cut at 4 kHz. You say that yours is not bright, this might be a case of the room they are in. EX: Too many heavy drapes, floor coverings or furniture that is of cloth material. As mentioned before, check the connections on the back of the speakers to make sure the jumpers are in place. Are the tweeters working okay? Just put your ear to them and you should be able to tell if they are working. Or, maybe its just a case of your hearing going. ... Just sayin'.
  4. I found that the RW-12D had a port chuff when pushed hard, or with lowwww bass. The SW-112, I believe has a slot port which might be better. Best to hear them if you can.
  5. From the specs...it looks like it'll go high enough that my cats will hear it...150kHz.
  6. Hi Sascha, Welcome to the forum!!! Something I would do is get a subwoofer to help the receiver deal with the bass issue. Get something that is the most you can afford, cuz we here know what happens when the upgrade bug hits. When buying anything for this system, think about what it'll be like when you move(if possible), to accommodate the size of the room. Getting the sub would be beneficial at this point IMO as it will not only help the receiver from not working as hard for your bass, but will aid in protecting those RF-62's for years to come.
  7. Blue on the left, Zoe on the right. LOL.
  8. These are my kitties. (Hopfully this works, first time with pics) Zoe on the left, Blue on the right
  9. Congratulations Amy, fine job you're doing!!! Hope that doesn't mean we will see less of you on here.
  10. LOL, thanks guys, this unfortunately, fortunately was the laughing highlight of my day! Good one.
  11. Thank you Stephen, THAT is what I was looking for.
  12. Nicely put William, and thanks for replying. Your last point is the answer I was looking for. Begs another question. You said " If you have a speaker which dips to 4 ohms or less (this is measured at the input to the box), at a particular point in the freq response, and for some reason you have an equalizer, and you goose up the applied voltage in that point, what is the result? What does happen is that with more voltage applied, current increases. Pardon me if I seem dumb here, but if goosing up the applied voltage in that point with the equilizer, am I correct in thinking that the current is increasing anyway without turning the amp up? In that case is the amp(if not suited to handle low impedance) not having to work as hard to deal with that impedance at the particlar section of frequency/ies? For all intents and purposes, this is for learning and applying for anyone if curious. Thank you to all.
  13. Thanks for the quick response speakerfritz, I understand what your saying. Great. Good to see you posting.
  14. If a low impedance dip of a speaker is something like 3.84 ohms at 500Hz, but the speaker is nominal at 8 ohms(don't know if it matters), does the amount of resistance(in ohms) change if you boost or cut that 500Hz band??? Thanks
  15. Oh no, don't tell me the Scotts with weed inhibitor did that. Is it the bag thats white & green but has the red on it? I bought a bag of that to put on the lawn for the winter time. As far as the grubs go, I had them this year and because we have a "don't use the big bad anti-environmental chemical" bylaw here, I was forced to use the nematodes on the lawn. Well, I must say it worked pretty good, if I used another treatment, it would have prolly rid them all if I haven't already. The reason I am not exactly certain is cause I used them in the drier of the season and didn't wait til this time of season to spray them on. They supposedly best to spray on/into the lawn early spring or late fall when the best rains and cloudy days are present. They are very prone to UV light from the sun so that is why they recommend to do it then.
  16. Hi Mako, Welcome to the Forum! I wish there was a RB-52 model, that'd be sweet. If you are meaning the RB-51 II(not the RF-52 II), I'd prolly go with a platform type of stand like one of these: http://www.sonicboomaudio.com/btech-bt606-24-inch-atlas-bookshelf-speaker-stands-p-16.html?zenid=463ef64daeec1b95efa54fdcc707e8d6 although higher, yes. You want to try and get the tweeters about ear level when sitting down.
  17. Haaappy Birthday Amy! [^]
  18. Canadian favorite Poutine: Cook F. Fries according to directions on package or (not too long as gravy will soften fries). Heat your favorite tasting gravy (can be chicken or beef gravy, etc.) I perfer beef myself. Shred favorite cheese (marble, old cheddar, medium, etc.) Place cooked fries on plate, add shredded cheese on top of fries, then pour hot gravy over fries. Add condiments as per individual taste. (ex. salt, pepper, ketchup, etc.) Enjoy!!!
  19. So Jacksonbart IS here on Earth. I knew it!
  20. Thanks, dtel! SO dtel, when are you getting a make over???? That hat is hideous...LOL

  22. Here is a review for the Marantz 6004 and test results for the 110w you questioned. http://www.hometheater.com/receivers/marantz_sr6004_av_receiver/
  23. Hey Shake, How are you A/Bing them? Are they in the exact same location? Do you run a ARC type correction software for them? If you do, do you run it everytime you change them out... I ask as they will have different responses to the environment they're in as they are different subs of type. Problems can sometime exists if the software measures differnt than another time. Not too much consistancy, with one I've tried. (Audyssey)
  24. Ohh I'm telling you, its getting f-blaming brutal up here!!! There is always a couple of stations that'll play it anyways but its true stupidity and that is what I base political correctness on. I don't care, they'll still hear it when I D.J. If they don't like it, they can go find another planet to live on. MHO []
  25. Happy Thanksgiving to the brothers in the south!
