  1. Well I rather like what you linked to... It's definitely something different, which Hip-hop/rap needs badly. I wouldn't say I'm a fan of the genre, but if it has a certain uniqueness to it, I'm there. Spare me the Soulja Boy!!
  2. Analog certainly sounds superior, but they don't release many new movies on vinyl....
  3. How does Florida compare to England? Here in Pennsylvania it's starting to feel more like Reykjavik. No... more like Alaska. It's warmer in Reykjavik right now. [:|]
  4. I'm not sure why the playstation wouldn't work with your old receiver, unless there's a variable there that we aren't considering. As far as the extra sound quality from DTS HD, I can't vouch for it as I have never heard it before. Take some time to compare between the sound quality from your old reciever on regular 5.1, then listen to the 09 using DTS HD, then decide if the upgrade is worth it. Does your dealer take trade-ins of any kind? Or you could just sell the reciever for whatever you can get and subtract that from the total cost of the new one, and consider the extra money spent an investment in your system. It really isn't an obscene amount of money in the long run. You've gotta pay if you want to play.
  5. I'm probably in the top 5 at 20 years old. Aside from Me Loves Heresys at 14, VideoCWK is somewhere around 15 or 16. I haven't seen him around these parts in months, however.
  6. What Coytee is saying (I think) is that there are no theaters that use solely Jubilees for sound (i.e. they use side surrounds and the like as well). And I am a Best Buy "Clerk"! BTW.... Gotham? Come on man...
  7. Well, the retail price is $1,800 for a new RT-10D. Assuming the seller is reputable and thus your warranty is still valid, I would say it's a steal. 50% off just about anything sounds like a good deal to me.
  8. 33°, feels like 33° 8" of snow on the ground and disappearing.
  9. If you're looking at new TVs in a retail store, like Best Buy or Circuit City or the like, they are more than likely using regular RF coaxial cable to give the TVs their signal, which is split no less than a hundred bazillion times. Any HD signal is going to look degraded and spotty at best. Your dedicated signal is going to be very obviously better. My personal favorite televisions are the Pioneer Elite plasmas, hands down some of the best flat panels on the market. A 60" elite will run you anywhere from $6-7K though. I lieu of that, there are a few other displays on the market right now that will best your Panasonic when set up in the correct environment. The links are for Best Buy but that doesn't mean they have the best price. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8961965&st=plasma&lp=14&type=product&cp=1&id=1216425209535 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8960207&st=plasma&lp=5&type=product&cp=1&id=1216424728581 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8939955&st=plasma&lp=10&type=product&cp=1&id=1215217076241 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8960056&st=plasma&lp=9&type=product&cp=1&id=1216424728088
  10. [{] for the Icons You seem to be suffering from a form of upgradeitis, which I will call "second-guessing-yourself-before-you-own-it syndrome". Go and get the rest of the set up for what you already have. You will enjoy it. I have heard the V-series Icons. The VF-36 towers are excellent. As detailed and as powerful as the F3s and even a bit smoother over all.
  11. http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/kpt-mcm-4-t-grand.aspx Sure they're over 8 feet tall, but they will have the "balls" you're after. And as a bonus, you can sell your house and use one of the bass bins as a cozy little cottage!
  12. *drool* Are those wheels stock? They look like Z06 wheels but the car looks like the stock edition with "only" 400 horsepower. []
  13. If I'm understanding your post, you have only the VF-35s and no sub? I wouldn't expect there to be much bass from three 5 1/4 drivers. If you haven't heard the icon x-series subs, do yourself a huge favor and listen to the xw-300d and the 500d. Even the teensy-tiny 8" xw-300d will impress. They will match your towers wonderfully.
  14. The top The first level The second level Pardon the dust on the top. Too many brands right now to list. []
  15. Why not explore the possibilities of 7.1? The room would probably look nearly ridiculous but the sound would be excellent.[*-)]
  16. I just set up an AVR-354 the other day. It's a very, very nice reciever, and sounds excellent for home theater and music. I would imagine the reviews revolve around source switching or the like. The first one that the person bought that I was setting up would not properly switch video resolutions for HDMI. They exchanged it and the second one worked with no problems. As far as I know it isn't a wide spread "defect" or anything, but some features can be buggy. I would recommend it simply because of how nice it sounds, and hopefully you won't run into any issues. What speakers and equipment are you using?
  17. Just how much distortion do see on the TV screen? Are there just a few "rainbow rings" on the top of the screen or does the picture look like a woodstock-esque "bad trip" when the speaker is playing? I'm not sure why the TV would have any distortion at all, but I can only theorize that the speaker is not magnetically shielded completely, and may not prevent all magnetic effects if it set it too close a proximity to a TV or the like. I'm sure others will chip in to shed more light on it for you.
  18. Did I miss some drama? Did anyone get shot?
  19. I would think that the forum itself would delete ancient, neglected threads or something like that. But who knows? Maybe Amy found this thread and is messing with us!
  20. Not to get off topic, but Youthman, that theater room looks absolutely oozing with potential! I bet it sound pretty intense already.
  21. I wouldn't say that it's taking over... It's just a great sub for the money, with plenty of output. My only complaint about it is that it doesn't go low enough for my liking. But for one ported 12, it has the goods.
  22. You bought a new little boy for $150?!? What a STEAL! Everywhere I look charges at least $75 a pound. Oh...wait... nevermind. []
