  1. Not sure I understand you. A Voir Dire is essentially a trial within a trial and it is for legal argument to be presented and resolved in the absence of the jury. Most trials do not require a Voir Dire. The ones that do will simply have the jury eating sandwiches in the jury room oblivious to the legal arguments going on in the courtroom.
  2. At least two years, but I already know it will be for longer than that.
  3. ...so it is said. This change is from Oz to Qatar. Ahh, the sand, the sun, the wild heat, the crazy drivers and the biggest construction project on Earth - the expansion of Ras Laffan. Some have quoted to me that there will be 100,000 personnel on site at the peak of construction activity. The best part - looks like I'm taking all my Heritage gear, DD-18 and NAD receiver with me. Schweet.
  4. I would like to serve on a jury. Unfortunately, it will never happen. As a practising lawyer I am absolutely barred from ever serving on a jury.
  5. I have not read the entire thread. I presume the follwing link from a McIntosh engineer has already been posted. If it has, or if not, it deserves posting again: http://www.roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm
  6. I don't have swine flu and I'm not worried about getting it. I have oinkment.
  7. Lights should be on a totally separate circuit to power outlets. Sounds like you have some shonky wiring to fix before thinking about a power conditioner.
  8. La Scalas and a wee sub sound like a borderline proposition when size is considered. Easier to accommodate than Klipschorns. Bigger than Heresys. More than capable to filling any size room in any place you're likely to live. Just get a pair that are cosmetically challenged but functionally unchallenged.
  9. Only if you like spending money on cable for no reason.
  10. Given the current economic climate, may I suggest an undercurrent to any selection of equipment that may reduce your choices but be a PR winner? Make sure that every single component is US made, and prominently display this fact in the Demo Room. I'm sure you could source donated equipment from the appropriate manufacurers (McIntosh comes to mind). This would be a PR windfall for them.
  11. Forms part of the Heritage HT. There are 2 x Heresy III out of shot. 2 channel is made of 2 x Cornwall III + (occasionally) the monstrous Velodyne DD-18. There is a very special Heresy III under that 50" TV but I am under strict instructions that images of it are never to see the light of day..... All driven by a NAD T785, Cambridge Audio 640C, Panasonic BD-35 and Mediagate 450HD.
  12. I use a Panasonic BD-35. Good picture, Terrible features. For example, you cannot set it to send HD audio via PCM but send standard DTS or Dolby bitstream. It's PCM or bitstream for everything. Another thing is that the response time for menu access is abominable.
  13. The high gain servo is addictive. Now, imagine the extra control the DD series gives you with a DD-15. Then imagine a DD-18....... Mwuhahahahaha.
  14. In this scene my entire house shakes and I am not exaggerating. Say hello to a Velodyne DD-18.
  15. Good for you. I said I was advised that I was the only person. I didn't claim it to be the case in reality. I'm not interested in penis measuring.
  16. No-one would expect anyone to post about a retail chain about which they know next to nothing bar the fact that 'drugs' is part of its name: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Drugs
  17. I used to be able to solve it in under 45s. Dead easy when you know how.
  18. I prefer speakers that sound good rather than look good.
  19. This is where you need to be more specific. Do you mean the original La Scala or the La Scala II? Cornwall, Cornwall II or Cornwall III? Heresy, Heresy II or Heresy III?
  20. Oh, yes. They are a perfect match to my ear. Close your eyes and listen to a pan from left to right using movie material and you would swear there are three Cornwall IIIs there. For pure stereo use, all it takes for the Heresy III to match the Cornwall III is a little bass reinforcement from the DD-18.
  21. I use 50Hz with the CWIIIs in HT and the occasional reinforcement event. The rest of the time they run full range. 70 and 80Hz did not work well for me. Bear in mind that regardless of the crossover setting, everything in the LFE channel will go to the sub.
  22. I've been advised that I am the only person on the forum running an all current series Heritage HT - 2 x Cornwall III + 3 Heresy III. All I can really say is that it sounds great and whilst I might have an itch to go Jubilee/Khorn/LSII, I have no craving or need to. Hence, if you are looking for a small island of tranquility before the 'bigger and better' bug really hits you I think following my footsteps may be prudent.
  23. Why not simply run whichever mode sounds best to you?
  24. How much do you really want to spend? The receivers listed so far are good. I've heard all the latest Denon gear and it's good, too. However, if you step up the dollars you get into places like NAD. To my ears the NAD T785 I have is better than the Denon gear I've heard. Not by much, but where it counts. Further, if it's sheer grunt you want, 7 x 190W FTC (to compare with the other receivers listed, otherwise 7 x 120W using NAD's system) is what could be called monstrous.

I haven't heard any of their designs but I suspect that the response curves presented are relatively easily corrected. Most give peaks, not dips. Peaks are easy to correct. Dips, nigh impossible.
