  1. Cool -I am anxious to try all of these including the pre bottled stuff. Any body got one for the clear vinegar based Eastern NC type?
  2. I have many years of expierence with field dogs. I have hunted game birds behind several national champions. I trained a lab that was -fact- no brag- the best one that I have ever seen- Had Mark for 7 years- another gut wrenching story that I will defer repeating-I have never been able to buy a dog after losing him. Anyway- you should immedaitely- like TODAY- check out Richard Wolters- gun dog- available in book or DVD. It is the bible of training field dogs. Setters are ofter high strung and need obeidence/field training at a very early age.You may see and hear that hunting breeds can not be both bird dogs and family dogs. At some high end field trial lever that may be true. But I know many friends with pointers and setters that are eating table scraps and watching TV with the family one day and pointing birds the next. The important thing is to get the dog to listen to you early on particulary with this breed. The Rolex is worth much more than you paid- The older ones are better than the new according to some experts.Have it serviced every 5-7 years. There are several fine oils that need changing or you will start losing time which spells trouble. If you take care of it the thing is bomb proof and will last forever. I have several of them
  3. Yes Mustard is a good variation which I use sometimes- about half of a 20 oz suqeeze bottle of French's regular mustard. Or Webbers if you cand find it. I suggest trying it with and without depending on if you like mustard in a BBQ sauce. If I am using primarily for pork I do use the mustard. If for chicken without. I like it either way. Thanks for mentioning the mustard. I should have put it down in the first place.. This is also good on grilled king mackrel.
  4. Nice pup. I remember the agony last year when we lost my buddy's German shorthair. Both of my boys shot their first Pheasant behind that dog. Became like a family member. I getr a lump in my throat reading this thread. Nice looking Air King- I think
  5. Sounds like a great time-The Eagles/Melbourne is a great Music DVD- One of my favorites- You can find in in the junkpile at Walmart for 6 bucks if you look around. I am going to grab an extra the next time I go to Walmart looking for ammo.
  6. This is a recipie that I have been using for 30+ years. It is relatively easy and the results are great. People who tried it would bug the hell out of me for free bottles and it got to be a pain. I would just show them how to make it so they would leave me alone. Not joking You will need a large mixing bowl and an electric hand held mixer.I have better luck making large batches as to adjust the ingredents after the mix. Retain extra ingredents after the first mix to adjust for taste. LEAVE ROOM in the bowl to add/adjust- very important 8 -18 oz bottles of Kraft REGULAR BBQ sauce- must be the regular- not smoked-1- 40 oz bottle of Heinz Ketchup-pour these into your mixing bowl. I pour about an inch of white vinegar in the empty containers and wash them out to get the last of the sauce and add necessary vinegar to the mix. Retain the bottles to store the sauce for later use.At this point I add one of the small bottles of Texas Pete to the mix. I like mine a little on the hot side so you may want to adjust to taste. Cover the top of the mixture with a generous portion of hand ground black pepper, The same with instant minced garlic to taste- you can also used powdered garlic. Add a splash of vinegar in addition to the vinegar left in the bottles. Dont over do it or themixture will become too thin.Typically I put enough pepper and garlic to coat the top of the mixture in a large stainless steel mixing bowl. Mix the ingredients completely. Taste the mixture. Too hot or spicy add more BBQ sauce and ketchup-Too bland add more of the other ingredients. Now the PITA- pouring the mixuture back into those bottles with the small openings. You can do smaller batches using the same ratios but it seems more difficult to adjust the mix after mixing. Keep the sauce in the fridge. I t last for ages with all of the vinegar. I use this on pork-chicken- beef ribs.Sorry for the general amount on the spices. One or 2 attempts and it will be easy. Lets hear about yours
  7. Cruisng through the week- playing catchup from the Canada trip last week. Went to a party last night launching the new 2011 Porsche Cayene. Lots of free catered Ruth Chris beef tenderloin-out of this world. free wine and cheesecake. my kind of deal - free and good. Gotta hit the liquior store tonite - trying out a new small batch burbon- mitchners american whiskey or something like that. rave reviews. many of my friends have switched from single malt to this.We will see. Have not had a cigar in 2 weeks- Dont smoke in the house- have not had time- have to fix that problem over the weekend. It is hot as blazes here- high 90s- beer weather and drinking plenty of it- and oh yes the- red wine for medicinal purposes only-- Cheer to all my bar buds
  8. I use a mixture of Monster-( whole product line is pure garbage IMHO) and blue jean on my HT setup. At some point I will repalce the monster interconnects with Blue jean- For HT I really don't think that IC or speaker wires are that big of a deal. The high end monsters have fallen apart one at a time- with hum issues and you name it. I would say any interconnects are OK for HT applications except monsters. The RCA plastic coated examples from Lowes are my misc backups and honestly- I have no issues with them. I do think the blue jean or mono price is the way to go if you don't want to invest a lot of cash. I would say the same thing for a solid state amp setup- BJ or Mono price is rthe way to go. However- with tube stuff- I have rolled wires and there is a difference. Switching to Nordost blue heavens all around has definitely enhanced the higher frequencies- to my ears at least. very pleased- I have not heard the AQ- DBs but they have an excellent rep according to local info sources. I think the cables/wires are an up grade in any tube setup up to a financial point of diminishing return. I know a guy who just spent 3 grand on interconnects alone. I know another local guy makes custom wires for high end customers- not for me - but he stays busy. I have bought used cables and wires form AG and E-aby without issue-lucky I guess.
  9. I was interested in maybe buying it. But tulsa is a bit too far to drive
  10. where are you located? That sub is a pain to ship
  11. You are on the right track. I listened to stock K horns for just over a year. Modded mine in a very similar manner to Greg's. This is an OMG mod. The difference is night and day.
  12. regardless of which machine you use- highly reccomend chemicals and cleaning instructions from the Disc Doctor Pretty much foolproof.Even for a rookie like me.
  13. I will take that round after a brutal business trip to Canada. Awful travel schedule getting up at 5 to return then working for 7 hours. Fights with hotel clerks over not having rooms- over booked and 2 hour waits to take off due to control tower F ups. On the good side- un real food and wine. 6 to a pound shrimp from Thialand. 3 pound lobsters- Kansas dry aged prime beef- bluefin tuna tartare with raw quail eggs.Lobster tempura. maxed out my company credit card. 2 nights at the same resturant- Queve Laval in Montreal- maybe one of the best resturants on the planet. 2500.00 in 2 nights. glad it was not my money. Recovering at home - sipping a variety of beers. trying to get over the trip. Hope everybody is having a great weekend Cheers- Next round is on me.
  14. Moral judgements aside- this guy is the absolute king of the POS hall of shame. I t gave me a chuckle to see his name at the top of the list as still the worst after a year. People like dogs(me included) and remember this Barbaric deal- It is not going away. Funny- Most people I asked to guess today guessed Tiger. I could give a rip about what Tiger did. He is just a laughing stock as losing more dough and being a biggger dumb @ss.
  15. Speakers never go through menapause or get a headache. So obviously keep the speakers. 86 any woman who may suggest the alien concept of too many - or too big- speakers. Don't dare sell them. Sell the smaller ones in your profile and buy K horns or Lascalas[6]
  16. At 350.00 go straight to the Cambridge 640CV2. Spirit audio had them a while back. 750.00 machine marked down after upgraded model model came out. 2 DAC units- sounds just a click below my 1000.00 Jolida. Highly reccomend in the 300-400 range
  17. Mike is the best- one of the top forum members who really knows the 2 channel playbook. I thank his as well for my used VRDs and tube rolling tips for the next round of upgrades. One of the good guys of this forum who has led others to the ultimate 2 ch listening level.
  18. My yahoo page featured a list of the most disliked athletes in sports this morning. Guess who won- Hint- It was not Rothsberger or Tiger Michael Vick???????? Bingo- Looks like sports fans have a long memory when it comes to the dog tourturer. He can put this one in his trophy case along with this prison jumpsuit.
  19. Cool -makes me feel good to know that people know of it. We spent many hours in that area- got the location odff his Loran. to sink the barge Maybe someday I will get back out there. Maybe charter a boat to fish that area. Lots of memories. I will be off the radar for a while- Heading to Canada -business travel- gone until next week unless I can get to a computer. Going to some world class resturant in Montreal -cant wait to taste the food- not looking foward to traveling. You guys keep the bar open and save my seat for next week- All the best to my bar buds- Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. TA- Yeah and maybe you should stick to your motorcycles and you infinite knowledge of the next world. I find it interesting and quite amusing that you feel it necessary to engage in personal attacks when an opposing view is expressed. What does Scotch and Sports cars have to do with this discussion? Having been through this type of situation certainly gives me a perspective and a right to my opinion on the subject. Anyone with a family and kids who - terminal illness execpted-paints the bathroom with their own blood leaving children- siblings- parents- friend to mop up the mess is a coward. End of story. My opinion and I will stick to it.
  21. Beg to differ- Terminal illness- pain- no problem. 40 yr old productive individual with kids who everybody loved ( in my case)- who choose to bring kids into this world-loads of friends who he choose to cultivate- you have an obligation to the people who care about you. How many crying children have you had to explain to why some self centered individual who they worshipped decided to eat a bullet??? None I would guess. I completely understand why J4N has an element of anger and misunderstanding for this course of action. Suicide is the ultimate act of cowardice. I have been close to 2 of these events and I have not changed my opinion and never will. You will always beat yourself up for not stopping it.
  22. I have close to 5k miles invested in picking up stuff. Part of the klipsch expierence(heritage especially) meeting people ect. shipping?????? long story short... dont do it with any big speakers. Been there done that- disaster. I deal with shipping issues at work daily. Motor freight carriers suck. You have a problem- You are screwed big time. Dont expect them to make it right.
  23. LMFAO- why is anyone surprised? Good clip Marty
  24. Nice Richard.. I think you need to sell off some of your other stuff to make room[6]
