  1. Welcome to the forum! The RP3's are surprising speakers aren't they. I'll post some pics of the two I have and see if you have an interest. I'll tell you that they are not pristine and don't have all of the pegs, but that's a problem with that entire design.
  2. I wonder if that decision was based entirely on the load it would place on the average amplifier and nothing else; but makes me think about this a little more.
  3. Thanks for the information, I really appreciate it. I'm curious why you would think the K45 might make a better choice? When I look at the response I would have thought the 48, but I'm sure as always, I can always learn something.
  4. Hey Carl, Trey is getting me the specs but I'm sure you're correct and the 301's have the same drivers so 2 questions, how well do your 301's dig on the low end and what's your opinion of the sound? I totally get where you're coming from and that could be the direction if I go with a ported design. I did finally get to download winsid but it configured in metric so I'm going to uninstall it and try again.
  5. Sure, I'll just put them next to my K34's, the K48's the Kappalite's and the cast 15's I have from Bob. The last thing I need is more 15's, I just need to get all of the ones that I have in their permanent resting place.
  6. Great question and I'm asking the same one about the K48's for a similar project. I don't think you can answer that without the specs on the driver and I just sent Trey a PM asking for mine because I can't get a response on my post, but I'm doing it for audio only so we're looking for two different results.
  7. It would be great.....................I think, if it wasn't so hard to try and track down the specs. I would imagine that the specs on the various Klipsch 15's are close and the DBB plans that JWC and Rudy and others have built would work for a front ported cabinet but I really want to spec this with the correct parameters and take a look at the dimensions of a non ported box too, but as of right now, no specs I'm going to try and reach out to Trey and see if he can help me out.
  8. I've tried searching the archives and can't find any good T/S parameters for the K48's and I need to get them to run some numbers on a ported and non ported double bass bin that I'm wanting to build so any information would be appreciated.
  9. I'll try and download it.
  10. I think I have the proper parameters in a spreadsheet that has over 500 drivers including a section of Klipsch and one of them is listed as a K1548 but I would like to try and confirm these numbers but as if right now I haven't been able to. I don't have winisd and couldn't find a clean download when I looked this afternoon but I have another program and there are others online if I don't find a better source so I'll get the numbers in and see what it spits out and continue to try and find another listing for the TS parameters to make sure they are correct. I'll post the results.
  11. I know, it's exactly what you did! I'm just trying to utilize the K48's and I do not have a good grasp on crossovers so though I can replace a cap or add something it's not going to be without proper instructions from people like you that know what you're doing in this area and quite honestly, I was worried about damaging the 250's, like I stated, some of my assumptions would be wrong. I have to look up your build and some of the other DBB builds and see how the K48's would work out because all I could find from you was some initial pictures when you were starting that build. Did you rebuild your crossovers in your 250's?
  12. Guess it's time to bring this project back to life after a long break from electronics. Here's where I think I"m at with this; take the 2 K48's and put them in a DBB that's powered separately and reconfigure the crossovers in the 250's once I figure out where the crossover point should be. I am assuming a few things that I hope to get corrected on from all of you since I couldn't find the information in prior threads, 1) the KP115's were filtering out all of the low's (I believe at 150hz) going to the 250's so that will have to be dealt with on the 250 crossover and 2) I would imagine that a Heresy network would be a good starting point. Here's a picture of the 250 network that appears to be all original so please fire away with suggestions and corrections.
  13. Thanks gentlemen, it's much appreciated.
  14. Here's the goal regarding how clean I want them to look when I'm done. This is what Dean built me for my Cornscalla's, not that I can make them look this good, but you have to shoot for something.
  15. It's time to get back to some projects and get them finished, one of them is to refinish/upgrade my Cornwall 2's and I'm figuring that I should recap the crossovers but I have some questions. 1. Which network is this and is it a stock network? As you will see, it really looks like crap so if this is stock I'm open to suggestions on cleaning this up and making any cost effective upgrades while I'm doing it but the mess where the wires are terminated and the caps are has got to go.
  16. I WOULD like to have this but too far away ! You and me both brother but too far for me also. Someone should snag this as they are becoming really tough to find.
  17. Hi All, I had 2 fuse holders that screw into the back of my 250's break apart (old plastic) does anyone know where I might score some of these? I called Klipsch and they said that none were available. Thanks!
  18. Nice! What mid horn/driver combination are you using? Oh, and welcome to the forum.
  19. Yes, they would then be considered head phones.
  20. Heresy, and depending on where you are, there was an oddball single on cleveland craigslist that someone painted red for about $100
  21. Hi Dean, What do you have in the way of plans for just the bass bin and are they a good set of plans that have been built from without problems? I have a print but I don't even remember where it came from. I would really consider a cornscala bass box or a DBB as an alternative unless the LaScala's bass is a must have in your set up but I will help you get what you want if I can and we can just barter it out with crossover work I need done. Let me know.
  22. Tell him to double his budget or buy one RB5 at a time. [] I have purchased many RB5's and all for $200 or slightly under per pair and for the money I don't think you can beat them for a book shelf.
  23. It's really up to you, but that's on the high side of what I'm use to seeing. For that kind of money you could also consider building a set of Cornscalas
  24. For the money, I would just hang on to it. I've purchased a couple over the years in the range that you're asking and I wish I would have hung on to one of them for a smaller surround system, heck, try and go find a center for 2x that money and have it sound as good. Just my 2 cents worth so you can't go wrong no matter what happens.
