  1. I've heard both amps in the past and actually much preferred the A205A for its cleaner and much more accurate sound. Another recommendtion for PP EL-84 amp is LEAK Stereo 20 or a pair of LEAK TL12+ monoblocks.
  2. There's only one version of the model 7 with 6-12AX7 tubes. The model 1 mono preamps had 2 versions. 1st version with 2-12AX7's and 1-12AU7 and the second version with 3-12AX7's.
  3. Allan, Nice work there. How do you like your new tonearm?
  4. Happy B'day, Gary. I can recommend you a great place to celebrate it http://www.iridiumjazzclub.com/bio.php?id=267 .
  5. This is so sad. Such a great loss. I'm devastated. I was fortunate enough to see him performing in NYC last year at the Iridium (with his son and Grachan Moncur III). He played so beautifully. He surely be missed.
  6. Edmond, Congrats on your new amp. The cobalt transformers are indeed very special. They've transformed my WL Gemini PF from being a very good amps into being an amazingly good amps. Music had much more weight and instruments overtones sounded so real. I'm still regreting selling them. Wish I could buy them back. Allan, The Ikeda arm doesn't sound as good as it looks........It's nearly impossible to beat the old SME 3012R with these SPU's (IMO of course). BTW, Finally managed to login after weeks of trying......
  7. DON'T DO IT. AFAIK, The peach uses 6DJ8 tubes and no 12AX7's. They're not interchangable and you can damage your equipment.
  8. Man, These look great. (I like them more than the VRD).
  9. Greg, I've owned the WL Gemini PF monoblocks and they were among the best amps I've ever owned. I did prefer the sound of the 45 tube over the 2A3.
  10. That's what I call a "Smilin syndrom".

  12. might I ask Why ..???.... Guy In general, most 6dj8's are too hifi-ish sounding and not musical enough to my ears, and the acceptable ones cost a small fortune and tend to be microphonic in the most circuits.
  13. Personnally, I would rule out any preamp using 6DJ8 tubes so the Modulus and SF has to go, but my opinion is in a minority here. I can recommend this nice C-J http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?preatube&1145116796 .
  14. Edmond (Jazman) is using his with a pair of Khorns and Kelly (Mobile homeless) is using his with Cornwalls which are less efficient. Few other members have very good experience with these too.

  16. Great speakers at a great price. I strongly recommend these to anyone wishing to enjoy music. The 077 tweeters are among the best there is and easily worth around $500/pr.
  17. The Wavelength Gemini PF with cobalt transformers were among the best amps I've ever listened to (although I was using them with Altec 604's). Since you're in the UK, I can recommend you to look for a vintage Radford STA-15 or STA-25. Both sounded great with my Klipschorns.
  18. The model 1's and 7 sound superb. I've owned both and the 7 sounded more musical to my ears but was more compressed with complex music. The 1's are more detailed and have better seperation.
