  1. Builder,You and I went to a lot of concerts together and didn't know it. Did you see the Moody Blues in Shreveport in 78 or 79? I toured the Klipsch plant the next day. Bought me a bull$hit button and a LaScala Hobbit T-Shirt. Wish I still had them.
  2. The sub sonic guns knocked my socks off!
  3. I got a Denon 1603 for Christmas. It has no phono inputs. I still play a lot of LPs. I'm using my old Kenwood receiver for the phono pre-amp. I am going from the tape-out of the Kenwood to the aux on the Denon. On the Kenwood there are no speakers hooked up and I have the speaker switch off. The volume is set to minimum. Will this hurt either one of the receivers?
  4. boa12, After you audition the Live At The Cavern, let us no how it is. I saw it in the store and was curious.
  5. I have my tone controls set to defeat. EQs are toys aand should be outlawed.
  6. Have ya ever listened to Old97's or Blue Rodeo? Check out Too Far To Care by Blue Old97's and Five Days In May by Blue Rodeo. Both are great Rock and Roll albums in the Country genre.

    Star Trek

Having been a Star Trek fan since 1966 I must say I was totally let down. Though the acting is much better and the special effects are as good as it gets, the stories are not as good.
  8. erikjohn,We were veiwing the world throuh John's eyes. Everything we saw from the happy past was in natural color.

    DTS / DVD's

Paul McCartney's "Back In The US" has dts, but It's not listed on the box.
  10. Thanx BBB,I was wondering where he came from.
  11. I quit subscribing to Stereo Reveiw / Sound & Vision when they cut back on the music reveiws. Cut back on the music reveiws and it gives you more pages for advertisements. Go figure.
  12. Until these fast food joints pay people a living wage they will always have a high turnover and snooty employees that hate their job.
  13. Stuff em into the corner at 45degrees and forget about em!
  14. Just got Paul McCartney's new DVD"Back In The US" GREAT concert,Great recording! It's in DD and dts. Wide range of Beatle songs and Paul's. Fantastic drummer.Kind of a cross between Ringo and Keith Moon.
  15. Goodbuy Sony,Goodbye Best Buy! After my Sony Receiver, with a two year warranty failed,I took it back to Best Buy and tried to get it repaired. Since I didn't get THEIR extended warranty they wouldn't honor the Sony warranty. Now I have a Denon 1603! DENON ROCKS! I had no idea how much warmth and detail I was missing. It's kind of like hearing Klipsch for the first time.
  16. Hammond also makes the C-3. It's virtually the same as the B-3 sans the bass pedals.
  17. I get goose bump misty when I hear "Little Drummer Boy" by Bob Seeger and The Silver Bullet Band"

    Levon Helm

Just read "This Wheel's On Fire" by Levon Helm. This is a very interesting book by a drummer who owns a club in New Orleans equipped with 31 Klipsch speakers. Levon wasn't nearly impressed with "The Last Waltz" as I was and his insights about Robbie Robertson and this film is hilarious. With all the heart felt singing Robertson did,His mic wasn't even on. Levon is an Arkansan who lead probably the greatest American Rock and Roll band ever. Great Reading!
  19. ELO and Heritage, great combo! Builder,I was at that show, and went to Ruston the next night to see them at La.Tech.
  20. Ear fatigue occurs when you have had enough of a high volume sound. It is in the realm of physco-acoustics,which is an amazing topic that I've never seen discussed here before.I feel that folks who are used to soft dome tweeters find the honest sound of horns too bright. Looks like your jackO'lantern has had enough ear fatigue! LOL!
  21. talktoKeith,I don't understand what you mean by color coded "wares" but I do understand how to connect components, having done so for thirty years. There is nothing I did to cause this receiver to open it's self up. It was a horrifying experience. Imagine your power supply at maximum volume with no way to turn it down other than switching modes then turning off the power.I do have an out though, seems that this receiver has a two year warranty if I don't have a service rep asking me if I have color coded wares.
  22. Monday night I watched a movie. When the movie was over I switched from the DD mode to video1 to watch some Monday Night Football. THE VOLUME WAS WIDE OPEN! The volume knob had no effect! It's a STR-DE 875,definately not a cheapy. Now the only sound it makes is small electronic clicking sounds as I turn the volume knob. Thank God for Klipsch.Any lesser speaker would have thrown the woofers out into the living room floor.I will never buy another Sony product again. So I'm back to two channel with a 25 year old Kenwood. I did not have it turned up that loud,it did this on it's own. Shame on Sony for selling products that last just over a year!
  23. I have a RC-3 for my center and don't notice any of the thinness that I saw in that showroom. The sub was throbbing like some kid's car. You Know the ones yhat have a sub the size of a washtub that vibrates your rearveiw mirror from a block away LOL!
  24. Could it be the way the dealer had the sub adjusted? I don't know, but I was't impressed. It seems he would sit the system up for optimum realism and not his personal preference.
