  1. That's odd but your ears tell the story. You going to keep them? I can't. While I think the bass thing is figured out, the image is just too small. The speakers have barely 10 feet between them. Just not big enough room. I lack the corners to put them along the long wall like I can the Cornscalas. Well that just plain sucks....sorry to hear that Gorm. My first HT setup I had about 9ft between the Khorns also with TV and audio gear in between them, was pretty tight for sure, but I did have true corners for them. Somewhere on this site they are posted but that goes way back to 2001 and my setup has changed since. I just saw your for sale ad and that is pretty much the exact same setup I originally had, not much room and my tv stand and gear setup was between them, I now fully understand your dilemma.
  2. Good advice, she is fortunately more prone to candles and such.Going to keep an eye on Alberta and maybe Saskatchewan over the winter and into next spring. We are moving into a new place the end of August so her priorities will come first. She has some new furniture plans for the dining room. I would also keep an eye out in Brithish Columbia for them also. Don't see to much in Alberta and have never seen in Saskatchewan, always check Kijijji online, probably your best bet on finding a set or even try Canuckaudiomart.com. There are a few Khorns on Canuck but mostly in Ontario\Quebec and I imagine shipping here would be quite expensive, let alone the NWT. Depending how often you get down here to Etown, we have a Dealer, Audio Ark, who happens to be the largest Dealer in Canada for Klipsch Heritage and I have seen a couple of pairs of Khorns there on trade in or on consignment over the years, located on 124st and 107 ave. Unfortunately here in Alberta, any Dealer that sells the Heritage line does not stock them in store, they are a "special order only" as we Klipschers are a special breed and we know what we want and are willing to pay for it. I do get down to Edmonton a few times a year. Have never been in Audio Arc and will check them out next time I'm down. I'm hoping October or November. Thanks for the tip. No problem, Let me know in advance and I can tour you around to a few of our great audio emporiums here and indulge in a beverage or 2...unfortunately I don't know of any places like "The Range" here in Etown like in YK...lol... What a wonderful and unexpected post. Don't run into too many folk who know YK (Yellowknife NWt for you southern folks). Trust me I can live without the Range, more of a Black Knight kind of guy. We are moving into Northern Hieghts the end of this month. I can crawl home at -40 from there!Would be very happy to meet you and take a look. Pints on me. Edit/addition: did you live here in the late 70s early 80s? Used to know a guy named Boomer with the Ultimate Vinyl Collection when I was a young man. Good morning and not a problem, I'd be more than glad to help out a fellow Klipsch family member! I can also relate to you as I lived in YK for 6 yrs as well as Inuvik NWT (94 -00), and I know what it's like there. I believe at one time I had the most northern Khorns on the planet when I lived in Inuvik, and the offers I got on them, I'm surprised I never sold them...HA....Can't say I have heard of boomer and the Ultimate Vinyl Collection store, I probably would have spend half my time and money there if he was still going when I was! Sorry, had to throw the Strange Range in there...lol....it's funny when you bring that name up to people who have been to YK and the look you get, but I had alot of good times when I lived up there and definitely miss the salary I had when I had one of those cush G'NWT jobs before I settled back home. I have always told people if there is some place you truly want to visit it's our Canadian Arctic...the pictures in National Geographic don't do it justice in the summer time and also winter. Tim
  3. The snow isn't too deep by then? Bruce Bu that's when you book it as a Snow Day with the temperature at -40 F\C or I should say a Klipsch Day, and a time for catching up on quality tunes, a fine Cuban cigar and Hot Rum totties and watch the kid outside you dropped $20 on to shovel your walks and driveway....lol....

  5. Congrats on pulling the trigger....and as you stated, you can always sell them if they don't work out....*cheers*....
  6. I'm going to cry...why can't someone in Western Canada sell a pair like these so I can snag them....

  8. "I'll likely buy them"? In Calif if you sneeze the guy behind you will snag them. Iv never went for a speaker(s) that i did NOT come home with. Fetch first, think later. LOL...I like that..."fetch first, think later"....touche.... If I had a 20 spot for every set of headphones and tube headphone amps, even audio gear that I have bought and not used ....I could buy another set of phones or more gear.... It's like a disease we have...do we need...no...do we want...oh hell yea...... When I was stationed in Germany and bought my Khorns from the American PX in 93 I had no corners for them in the place we lived on base but boy did I WANT those big bad boys!!! A decision I never regretted.
  9. 1/ She accepted your offer which was "FAR LESS" than she wanted. 2/ AK-2 crossovers AND sequential serial numbers. 3/ They sound "VERY GOOD" from the demo 4/ You convince yourself again stating she accepted your "much lower offer" than what she wanted. 5/ Chipping on the veneer edges and bottom grill cloth "THAT CAN" be repaired and replaced. I've heard you can buy the grill cloth direct from Klipsch or find out where you can get it,,,,and veneer can be replaced....even removed, sanded and stained over or even re-veneered. 6/ "Mechanically" they are sound from what you state, just "cosmetically" they need alittle TLC. I don't think this is a hard decision in my opinion......but something is holding you back.....
  10. Look just like mine, 1993, and the finish is called Oiled Oak not Medium Oak.
  11. Which ones did they suggest? I bought some cheapos from HDepot and they work but the connection is not the best. Bill Hi Bill....I bought 2 Monster Y adaptors male to 2 female. SVS sells them on their accessories webpage but not the jumper cables. I made my own jumper cables out of some Monster cable I had and bought 4 gold plated male RCA connectors. I plug the Y adaptor into the "pre out" on my Marantz 2275 and branch the rear line into the sub and the front line into the "main in" on the 2275 for both right and left. I have seen on Ebay a few sets of jumper cables from about 4" to 6" and they seem to be of half decent quality. There is a guy on Ebay from Sherbrooke Quebec who sells different varieties and lengths of jumpers and his prices aren't bad. Here is the link for his "stores page" and you can check out for yourself what he has: http://www.ebay.com/sch/visiontronic/m.html?item=221818941754&_qi=RTM2067268&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 I hope this helps, let me know....Tim Tim, Thanks a bunch. Bill No problem Bill, glad to help out a fellow Klipscher, he seems to have pretty good feedback from the various jumper sets he has sold so you should be able to find what you need...good luck and Happy Listening.... T.

  13. Great to hear and part of the reason why I bought my SVS SB2000. I had an issue with hooking my SB2000 up to my vintage Marantz 2275 receiver, and they were more than helpful, even drawing up a schematic and emailing it to me with what I needed to do and NOT to do from what others had tried with vintage gear, even what jumpers to buy...great people.
  14. I doubt the OP was waiting 13 years for an answer LOL....to funny.... but in that price range you can find a nice vintage Thorens TD 145 mkII to TD 160 mkII, or for a new model the Rega RP1 is a sweet entry level player.
  15. I actually just bought a Marantz PM8004 Intergrated amp from a member here, FinalygotmyHerseys, and run a Marantz SA8004 plus a Rega RP40 TT in 2 channel mode for my LaScala's and I love it, very clean and good punch when needed.
  16. Good to hear BillyBob, glad you got it home ok...and welcome to the plasma world......It's good to hear you got some help, I remember hanging my 65" on the wall at 137lbs, not fun!
  17. Hey Jmon, that all depends on the viewing preference. Do they do most viewing in the daytime or night? How is it for natural light entering and how lit up is the room(is it in the basement or upstairs living room)? If the room is darker with little light from outside or inside affecting it, then go plasma, which is a better picture quality, however, be advised light will reflect off the screen. In a brighter room with natural light or fixed lighting then LCD or LED is the way to go as the screen will absorb that light and not reflect it like a plasma will. As for life of the set, no worries as the plasma's, lcd, led are designed to last longer than a tube tv with 10,000 + viewing hours, which is alot. The main thing, what is their budget? Quality and pricing can vary. Check out Amazon, but always Inspect it before the Courier takes off! I know here here in Canada Sears just cleared out a 50" LG plasma, new in box, for $348 CDN, from their outlet\clearance section a very sweet price! Shop around and work stores against each other for the best price...I love shopping for electronics...lol....
  18. The best plasma's ever made were the Pioneer Kuro's and were only 720p, they smoked the competition and my 50" weighs 84 lbs soaking wet. It wasn't until Pioneer sold Panasonic their technology(some not all) that Panasonic became number 1 when Pioneer retired. They retired because their plasma's were just to expensive then to the average household at around $3500 for the 50" and $5000 for the 60". The Panasonic Viera is a nice unit, but the last run of the Panasonics in 2013/2014 before they retired from the plasma business is the top of the line. I have a 65VT60 and this beast is smokin(137 lbs) and by the richness of the blacks it truly gives the Kuro a run for the money with a contrast ratio of 6,000,000:1! You can now score Pioneer 50" Kuro's in the $600 to $900 range used and even the newer Panasonic T series are going for $1000+ for the 55-60" . Any Panasonic is a good Plasma and if the price is right for you then pull the trigger and enjoy! As for transporting it, newer model plasma's can be laid flat, older ones must be upright due to the pressure, I would investigate for your model.
  19. That is a sweet little setup, use to have one until I sold it in 2000, still kicking myself for getting rid of it! I just ran the amp to the sub and sub to the speakers, worked great....enjoy....
  20. I am hesitant on that shelf with the vibration the subwoofer gives off, it's pretty thin and suspended. Mine is on the floor a foot away and you can definitely feel the vibration coming through the floor. I wouldn't run 2.0, that subwoofer is what gives the system it's kick! If you go that way get some half decent bookshelf speakers with 3 way - highs, mids, and lows and control the ranges off the soundboard on screen display.
  21. I second the SVS SB2000, just got one to go with my LaScala's strictly for 2 channel and am quite impressed! Very tight and musical sub, extends quite well where the LaScala's drop off.
  22. Looking for a Groovetracer subplatter, prefer the reference model. Must have the whole kit with instructions for a Rega RP40 TT, willing to pay for shipping. Thanks for viewing.
