  1. Keep me posted if you find out anything more on the audio breakup issue. Thanks for the input.
  2. Thanks Matt, you confirmed many things I was thinking. I too look at the weight and even called Marantz about it. The Harmon Kardon's I looked at were way to expensive for me.
  3. Thanks for your input. Was the set up menu easy to work with?
  4. Time to replace my Marantz ZR 6001, after several days of research these 3 are what I have narrowed down my choices to. These are all factory refurbished/reconditioned. Please give your opinions on what you think I should choose and why if possible. Your help will be genuinely appreciated. Onkyo TX-NR808-----$625 shipping included Marantz SR6005------$650 shipping included Marantz SR6004------$525 shipping included
  5. Bill, Thanks, that is a great price for that receiver. Thanks again, Cliff
  6. Looks like it is time to replace my Marantz ZR 6001. Looking for something newer that can handle the newer processing like DTS HD which mine can not do. Also HDMI in/out jacks would be a plus I would think. Looking to keep the budget under $700 and at least 110 WPC to give my Chorus IIs the power that they thrive on. I do not know a lot about these receivers and the Marantz I got by pure luck, right place, right time. I have done a little research but need some help from those that know. If it matters I am only running a 5.1 setup but is seems like most everything for sale are 7.1. Your help will be appreciated. Thanks
  7. From what I read Illinois is trying to get sales taxes from sellers that have affiliation in the state of Illinois. If you buy it from out of state and they have no affiliation (Like warehouses or stores etc) in the state of IL then you do not have to pay. Some of the bigger sellers are trying to fight this with the state of IL.
  8. Yes the room will determine what sounds best. Mine are on a long wall about 12' to 15' apart and toed in gives the best results for me.
  9. I have used the KHO 7s and they sounded just fine. I also used a Polk Atrium 10 outdoor passive sub which I was able to get for $150 on ebay. This summer I am replacing the KHO 7s with AW650 mainly because of the 650 better sound dispersion horn. Now the question ; do theysound as good as the indoor?, I would say probably not but close. That being said I would guess only 1 in 10 of your guests would notice the difference. I am happy with my out door system it is what it is; a system to stay outside.
  10. Yes 12 gauge MONOPRICE is the way to go. Where are you located? Look at Craigslist you will be surprised about what you may find.
  11. Are you looking for a stereo receiver or amp preamp or 5.1 or 7.1?
  12. If you have A/B speaker outputs and can run them at the same time; you can run the sub off the B and not have to cut off to your LaScalas.
  13. I am no expert but I would hook up via the speaker outputs.
  14. OOOOOOOHHHHH NOOOOOOOO! OVER $4 per gallon in Chicago http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chibrknews-gasoline-prices-here-break-4-barrier-20110302,0,3729164.story
  15. Too late already voted.but, I might attend if in Indy no way would I be able to go to Hope.
  16. Why did God put our oil under their sand? We have plenty of oil in our unexplored wilderness but We want to be politically correct and leave that in a pristine state. That being said we do need to get our act together and further enhance our use of alternative power supplies. I am for nuclear power and as dangerous as it could be, for now we have to accept it. But if we are going to risk the potential disaster to the environment a nuclear power plant can bring, then we should also be willing to drill for oil anywhere where we can get it. Just my 2 cents. There is another option that I was going to post but it may cause to much of an uproar.
  17. The smaller the volume of the enclosure the more power you will need to get the same results.
  18. For under $1500 I would suggest the following: http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-box-pb12plus.cfm and http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/uls15.html Can not go wrong with either one/
  19. Here is some more info on this subject could be interesting for some. http://www.cnn.com/2011/TECH/web/02/22/24.bit.music/index.html?eref=mrss_igoogle_cnn
  20. Monoprice is best bang for the buck.
