I might add that the pre would be an upgrade to a NAD 1300 I am currently using. I use a Baldwin tube amp that I purchased from HarryO about a year ago. It has around 20-30 WPC which is more than enough power to drive my Forte IIs.
I am in the market for a new preamp. My budget is up to 1000 but would like to stay closer to 500. I need a phono section with this. If not, buying a phono pre will have put into my budget totals. This will be used only for phono and CD. I do not need tone controls or a remote control. I am not a DIYer so that is not an option for me. I am considering the Dared MC7P. Any suggestions about this pre or suggestions of others I should look into? I can go either vintage or newer, I have no preference. Thanks.
I am looking at that same preamp also. I can't make up my mind if I want to go ahead and buy one of those or hold out for something else. I have not heard anything negative about those preamps yet.
My goal is to get my K-horns within the next year. I heard K-horns in mid 1984 for the first time. I made it a goal then that one day I would own a pair. I have about 18 months to go before my 30 years expire. LOL.
I own both the Forte II and the RF-82. I use the 82s in my HT most of the time. The Fortes are used stickly 2 channel with tubes. Both are very good speakers, however, if I had to pick one to keep, it would be the Fortes, hands down.
I have been wearing progressive bifocals for several years now. They are the only type I have ever worn. I keep saying that one day I wil try the lined bifocals out. But I never have. I usually just take mine off when I am watching TV.
