  1. Don't be to critical in this situation you never know a "KID" I bought a nakimichi receiver off craigslist just for a listen, that sold for around 400 on the bay for 50.00. I spoke with the seller a young man of around 13 yrs of age and it was his fathers piece. I knew it was a little unfair but his mother wanted nothing to do with the amp and wanted it gone and once I knew it was his father's, I would give it back to him after an audition and let him keep the money. I gave it back to him told him the same old story, you may want this some day, you can keep the money just don't sell the item. Well it showed up on craigslist 3 weeks later, at least he held out for a little bit.
  2. ..........psst...................... Dale or crd is really.................................drum roll.............. ROMY THE CAT!!!!!!!!
  3. I am left handed when it comes to delicate things, but I am right arm dominate. We are different, odd and excentric, many of the ones I have met have extreme focus where the subject has interest to them, and always think outside the box ,where it doesn't, forget it. Spelling , I have never met one who could, this is just an assumption I have only met about 15 in my life, but this may hold true. I would say we range from retarded to brilliant most seem to be the latter in some discipline. Myself I have a photographic memory for things that interest me, other things that don't, I will never remember (example electronics sorry for all the silly questions I have asked) Presidents, in the last few decades have been dominated by left handidness. Ford, Reagan "who was switched". H.W. Bush, Clinton, and now Bama. What happened in between that was a right hander!!!! I used to be able to throw a ball into the mid 90's, a football over 80 yards, I was single digit golfer within a year and a half of playing golf and can still hit a golf well over 300 yrds, play to a 6 and I never practice golf. If i could putt I would shoot in the high to mid sixties alot. Actually I do practive my chipping in the house. All of my hobbies I am pretty good at. I wont tell you what me s.s.tech says about my ears compared to his graphs or my audiologist. As far as the club 4 of the 6 children in my family are in it but the other 3 are right handed!!!!!!!! Good luck right handers and lefties!!!!! Sorry but I cant spell
  4. One of the below; 1. When production ends. 2. When you are sorry you got rid of them. 3. When the wife says they are butt ugly. Dave This is very funny
  5. Nice thread, I love vintage audio as I educate myself to it. When I have people over and and I play my Altec model 19's people love them, and say, they sound fantastic, and "they are the best they have ever heard" but when I put my 604's on, the party stops and everyone just listens. Altec made some nice old gear but be careful, they can be harsh and need alot of fine tuning and can be very source dependant. Good Luck
  6. Very cool link Thebes, I am sure you have checked out the park at 236/ 50/ 28 with the little stone house with the projectile holes in it? Interesting to see and very accessible. I remember when I spent some time in Middleburg, you could walk in the woods, and take a metal detector to almost any old oak tree and it would light up. Great pictures thanks!
  7. I have been looking at the art audio stuff since I started playing with this audio stuff, they my favorite looking amps I have seen, and now to here how good they sound..... went to audition some of their pieces in Clarence NY, but the the owner of the shop had the flu and I was leaving the next day. Very cool stuff
  8. If you post some pictures I am sure forum members can give you the help you need. Good luck!
  9. crd please enlighten us you are on a roll, AND YOU DEFINITELY ASK THE most interesting ?'s
  10. Didn't even know he was gone, I have read hundreds of his posts, sad to find out the truth. On the bright side he is still fooling people. I think he might like it that way.
  11. The Flame Linear stuff was 75% off ebay prices..... The Harman Kardon amps I cant find a value anywhere......But were probably not on sale, but they should be worth a try!!!!!
  12. Black Friday came a little early this year via craigslist..........
  13. After your flood you deserve it!!!!!! Congrats!!!!!!!
  14. +1 for C&F they do a nice job and are very reasonable, but I have only used them to ship furniture with a blanket wrap. I had some speakers shipped by another company that were much larger than KG 5.5's and it was just under 500.00. This included 7 or 8 layers of protection and with the pallet and packing materials weighed close to 400lbs. I am sure you can get a much better quote. If you pack them yourself you will save alot. A great material to use are 4x8 sheets of construction insulation. Good Luck
  15. As usual, late to the party!!! Did pick up some more vintage junk, Phase linear 700b, 4000 pre, Hk ax20 hk20 amp, tube amps. Bob Carver might be insane and I will probably never use these pieces, so I must be a little off.
  16. Very cool to see pictures like this! Klipsch definetly has some very saavy marketing techniques! I recall a company when I was younger that used very "light, but to the point, fun ads" they started off ,selling audio, in a 20'X 25' room with a bullet proof warrantee. They would hand pick the pieces that they would sell that they got a good deal on. They now sell everything audio, video, computers, cameras, phones, real estate, and even jeans. Thanks for posting the pictures really fun stuff!!!!!
  17. Acasanis, something doesn't sound right. Speakers of this vintage shouldn't be tacky to the touch. There are few possibilities why this could be, from to much pledge, to an appliction of an oil based product that didn't soak in, or even being to close to the kitchen. Best to proceed with caution you may wan't to try howards wood cleaning products in a small area at the base towards the back as a first step. Good luck let us know what happens!
  18. Great for you Jhoak,This is a nice place!!!
  19. Wuzzer I tried to buy these, I was hoping a forum member picked them up. They were what appeared to be in mint condition. Not often do you see untouched ( not stained), Birch klipsch speakers.
